  1. My rescue BC was storm phobic poor lad I just adored him. With unknown genetic's & horrendously abused. He would have a total melt down emotionally 3 hours before a drop of rain or the slightest storm. Countless hours of sitting by his side while he shook/drooled/cried was just the norm with him. I did use meds as he aged to help him & I think it did some what. He was such a lovely boy.
  2. Thanks for the heads up on those collars coogie. Sounds like they would make a great spare & the price is right :)
  3. I'm just sickened to the core... & so very sad for any animal that is subjected to such depraved behaviour
  4. Good point Cowanbree. Stella's behaviour doesn't bother me. I just thought maybe if she was more confident it may help her but thats me perceiving it as a weakness when it may not be. It probably is just her :)
  5. Awww..... MM. sleeping on your head. How darn funny is that :)
  6. Stan sounds like my Sonny. He does like to know where I am however once he has that sorted he will go off & have another sleep again in the air con naturally. Stella has to be right near me. If that isn't possible she just stares at me. You'd think after numerous accidental bumps in the head, toes trodden on & being tripped over would deter her from being so Velcro but it hasn't. Just totally different natures my 2. Sonny is more confident & comfortable in his own skin where as Stel is quite insecure but settles the moment she is next to me :) I'm on a mission not to change her because it doesn't bother me that she is Velcro but I'd like to increase her confidence. Don't know how but I will do some homework & see what I can come up with. Maybe it might help her :)
  7. Awwww..... How cute :) these velcro's are just the funniest dogs aren't they?
  8. Looking forward to the pic's ruthless :)
  9. Same Aussie3, it's a full time job dodgeing Stella. I have taught her to wait at the side of doorways when I need her to. Honestly, never had a dog like her. I have to check behind me where ever I am as I will end up treading on her otherwise. When she is outside, no matter what room I am in I can look up at the window & guess who's cute, little face I see looking back at me LOL :)
  10. My girl jumped over board when she was younger once. I think cause she could see the shore she thought it was shallow. She got such a fright she has never done it again. OH just reached over & picked her up by the handle of the life jacket :)
  11. Another heart warming story. How cute is princess & her teethy smile LOL she's very sweet. What a wonderful job you & your family do K9. Thank you for saving this little girl :)
  12. Sorry, posted before I finished typing minimax. Bloody mobiles :)
  13. Minimax, they are the exact same ones my 2 have. They are excellent ! Really well made, we have had ours for ages & they get used heaps as we live on the coast. They have a handle on the back which is good if you need to pick them up for any reason. They are very visable. Sonny has got a yellow one & Stella has cammo pink one & even in the late afternoon you can see thas they have reflectors on them as well. They actually do help them float as Sonny especially likes to float around & has no trouble doing this with his jacket on & in no way do they hinder their movement as he can run around in the shallows no trouble as well. Happy swimming :)
  14. Same here. My girl is the same. Follows me everywhere all the time. So glad I'm not the only one that finds things to do in the room she has settled in so as not to disturb her donski. I'm pathetic too then :)
  15. Very smart indeed - has he ever fallen in and you have thanked god for having a life jacket on him? No, I mustn't tell a lie; this was for a swimming session in an indoor dog pool! I just posted it cause i love that photo :). Although... If I ever did take him on a boat I would put one on him for sure as he isn't a strong swimmer at all and panics if he gets water in his ears. I love him like a child and I would put a life jacket on a child so then him too. Same donski, I have never been able to have kids so my dogs are my children. I am not 'silly' with them though. I still treat them like dogs. I don't try & humanise them. But if I had kids they would wear life jackets so why shouldn't my dogs. You would be surprised how many people just look & shake their heads, like I'm mad & I often get " can't your bloody dog swim?" Not that the comments bother me. As long as my guys get to experience everything & have fun SAFELY , thats all that I need worry about :)
  16. IMHO, I think it should be made law for our pooches to wear life jackets while out & about on the water. It only takes a second for an accident to happen. About as long as it takes to pop their jackets on. Both mine guys are so used to wearing them as soon as I pick them up they race over to me & just stand their waiting to get suited up. They know it means FUN :)
  17. Ha ha !! Go Stan. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em he sez :)
  18. Yes megan, I don't feed weight bearing bones either. They seem more incline to splinter/shatter. I do chic frames, cut into pieces or beef soup bones usually. I'm very wary of choking hazzards as Sonny for some reason seems to be quite prone to getting things caught in his teeth/throat & he is the slowest eater ever. I could under stand it if he scoffed his food down but he savours every mouth full :)
  19. My 2 BC's are both avid boaties & great swimmers. They both have life jackets & wear them where ever there is heavy traffic on the water, speed boats etc & if there is a lot of tidal water current, change of tides or rips for their own safety. People aren't looking for dogs swimming when they are out on the water & no matter how well dogs swim in strong current they will tire very quickly. So they are worn foremost for their own safety but must admit they do look very cute too :)
  20. OMG !! What a dispicable act I hope they catch the culprits & throw the book at them & karma plays it's hand as well. Can't bring myself to read the link. RIP poor little fella My thoughts are with the family. I can't fathom the sheer heart break of coming home to find my dog shot
  21. Yes , very true & those particilar dog "owners" are the first ones to scream if all of sudden their fav leash free has now become "no dogs allowed".
  22. +1 Well said Aussie. Couldn't agree more. Oxygen thief. RIP poor Cookie girl
  23. We are away caravaning atm & into our 2nd week with our 2 BC's. Our dogs sleep in our van in their beds with us. We have our annex fenced off with 3 dog pens joined together so they are always safe & secure. Personally I think to let them wander about is unfair to people who are not dog lovers & totally unsafe for your dog.
