A Most Disgusting Conversation Overheard
BC Crazy replied to Christina's topic in General Dog Discussion
I wouldn't be able to give her much of my time either Linda K. Seems like when things get a little tough we are out of there, husbands or pets. Just give them the flick & move on. Some people are just like that. Have rouble committing for the long haul perhaps or just too hard The longer you have a dog the better & deeper your relationship becomes IMHO & if they have issues & you work with the animal to resolve them, then your bond with them will just grow stronger. It's such a shame she is missing all of that -

OMG That is scary & extremely sad Linda K -
We are unsure what to do but we need to do something that looks good as we want to put our house on the market.

I did have a recall problem with Sonny, my male BC when he was around 6 months of age. Not so much that he was too interested in other dogs to come back to me, he just didn't want the fun to stop. He would recall back to me but stay about 4 feet away, just out of my reach Spoke to Sonny's breeder, she's wonderful, wealth of info. The solution was make sure you have a very hungry dog, & lots of his favourite treats only let him of lead in quiet areas, no other distractions, let him get a short distance away & recall. When he comes to you, he sits, you hold his collar for 10 sec's, then praise & release. Don't put the lead on him. His reward for coming is more fun. Repeat this. I was doing that about 40 times each outing. If you want to put his lead on to go, you go to your dog. Don't call him to put his lead on. Sonny never really goes any more than 20 feet away from me now when off lead, ever, no matter what is going on around us. I taught Sonny to stop when I want to put his lead on. He reads me very well though so he is where I want him to be most of the time. I rarely have to call him these days. Usually if I step backwards I would tread on him  Good luck. Hope I was of some help :) Just one other thing you have to make yourself the most fun, so your pup wants to be with you. I always had a toy or whatever makes him tick & play with him, then release him, call back e.t.c Sorry I haven't read all your replies so if this method has already been mentioned please disregard.

Oh I missed that "cheap" part too. Sorry TOTW is not cheap as such. But I wont be swapping unless my dogs appearance changes. I am very happy atm. -
We have re turfed 3 times in the last 3 years. Tried Summer grass, the SP one & last year we did Sir Walter buffalo. As I speak we are back to dirt as our 2 Border Collies have run around so much playing on it, it just couldn't cope either. So we are looking at artifical grass from Bunnings. They have a dog friendly one. It is expensive but we have run out of options. Sorry not much help to you.

Oh jesus !! I am so stunned, shocked & deeply saddened. Those poor bloody dogs. They are in a very bad way & the cowering sez it all. I hope the b@#tards get what is coming to them & some. I sent a parcel off today & will be sending some towels next week. They are old but clean.

My boy has a very sensitve stomache & is grain allergic. I have found Taste of the Wild dry food very good for him & he loves it. I have him on the "catch of the day" variety but he seems to thrive on all of them really. Earthborn Holistic is our 2nd choice & he goes really well on that one too. It is really annoying when they change the ingredients, you just find one that works too. -
I am another who has posted several times today & I too can't help but think of this poor littley & his devoted family who did all they could & it still wasn't enough to save him. I walked my 2 BC's in the pouring rain this morning but am afraid my face wasn't wet from that Just so incredibly sad for all concerned.

Yes Mystiqview, you make a very good point here. I always keep me eye on the puppy listings on DOL out of interest & just love looking at the puppies but I must say there are some 'breeders', one in particular, (won't mention any names) they are never off the puppy page. ALWAY'S seem to have a litter on the ground, sometimes 2 & 3 litters at once. Must admit it did make me wonder about this breeders ethic's. & yes it is a very sad day for the Border Collie world.

Oh dear I am ever so sorry to hear such sad news regarding darling little Bailey. What a cruel thing TNS is & no little puppy deserves to endure this insidious disease. No family should have to witness such suffering either. Our thoughts are with you Owey & your young family at such a sad time. You did your very best for beautiful Bailey & at least before he left us he knew the kindness of a loving family. R.I.P Beautiful Bailey No more suffering now little darling Go run free & play forever sweetheart. You have touched the hearts of many. Just had to edit my post as anger is starting to kick in regarding BYBers. Totally with you here Benshiva on this one. I hope one day that they will be outlawed so as there will only be registered, reputable breeders who make sure all these extremely important tests are done & there for horrible situations such as what has occurred here to Owey's family & little puppies like dear Bailey wont have to suffer in sickness & sadly have to be pts

Best Wire Collapsible Crates
BC Crazy replied to Staff'n'Toller's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Yes Kavik, I have 4 of their large wire round pens & they are also very good quality. We use them when we go caravaning to put around the annex like a fence to keep our 2 from harms way. Works really well. -

Poor child, I really feel for her. You'd be terrified of dogs for ever, shame on mother Fancy putting your child at risk like that. -

And another Vebo pet customer here I have 2 of their crates & love them. They are very strong & yes they are heavy but I have an escape artist as well so I have to go the big guns. Highly recommend them. Very reasonably priced too. -
That's what I am doing now with my 2 Weasels So far so good. A good balance of both. Free pats & lots of cuddles

I am unsure how TNS works either but I WOULD NOT go near Bailey's breeder EVER again, not with a 10 feet pole IMHO. I would go to a Registered breeder then all those relevent health checks have been done for you. dancinbc's or someone experienced like that will be able to fill you in on how TNS works Owey.

Ever so sorry for your loss. They are just so very precious & leave us with such a ache in our now empty hearts. R.I.P. Riley. Run free boy

Cat Thrown From Bridge On To Moving Car
BC Crazy replied to Panto's topic in Dog Cruelty and Abuse News
How could anyone do this to something so harmless -
They have every reason to become human aggressive given their treatment or total lack there of but no they still wag their tails at the sight of a human. They are very lucky to have been rescued. Sincere thanks to the great team that are bringing these poor Koolies who were totally neglected & abused back to good health & a giving them 2nd chance for a far better life. You are doing an amazing job.
