Allergies are so very frustrating. My abbey has flair ups I feel it's something environmental but it's just about recognising now before she over reacts. No yeasty smell there Denali?

OMG I just read this, so glad he is okay Aliwake! Big hugs for both of you.

Abbey had that the other week I ended up finding a couple of decent size sores right on the top of her tail, applied some neocort and they cleared up. I suspect she fell asleep in a pile of ants

I was thinking that Giardia too, my lab also had it around that age. The fascination of bird poop was just too much for a hungry lab pup. Although the wormers and injections may have overwhelmed its poor little system (which I have also been through) Keep up the bland diet for a few days don't let it go too far if it doesn't come good. Im a fan of the slippery elm too but not sure of the dose for a young pup.. its great for soothing the system and calming everything down. Good Luck! PS. would love to see a picture of the baby lab :D

Can you put a bit of peanut butter on them just to entice her? Only a little bit just to get her interested.

I've actually had the same thing with Abbey, her's were expressing on there own every now and then. I asked the vet cause we were there last week as she had been paying particular attention to her rear and they hadn't expressed that I had smelt in a fair while. The vet said as long as they are emptying that is the main thing, if it's the normal way (when they poop) or like your instance as long as they empty. Abbey has actually developed the vet feels a narrowing on one side which means it is having trouble expressing. I've got some stuff from our naturopath for her and we just have to see how she goes. But yes not nice when they express when your not prepared.

I use the nappy bags from woollies at home when you can use a shovel for pick up but when going in for the old bag over hand grab on walks I use the DOOG bags, they are nice and thick. I am looking at getting some more eco friendly bags.

I find dogs always eat grass, my old girl actually ate sand at one point....and ate dirt when she got sick towards the end and you couldnt stop her she seemed to be trying to make herself be sick. My old vert did say once it was cause they thought they are missing nutrients from their diet

was also going to suggest coconut oil, best stuff ever -
His system may have been a bit overwhelmed from the steroids maybe… Im just trying to think what point i was at with Abbey when she was doing that, had so much going on when she was a pup its turned into a blur… Maybe try some slippery elm to just sooth his irritation

Originally a lovely DOLer saw them at a dog show and bought and sent one to me years ago when Gypsy was a pup, but after it suffered a brutal death it was replaced on eBay. There's normally a seller in the UK, it's not too expensive to do it that way and Gypsy loves it and it's proved popular with the little one too, unfortunately I haven't found them locally again. They come in different sizes so be careful what you order, the big one has proved more popular here than the smaller one did. It's fantastic because the head of it quacks and then every second tentacle has a normal squeaker at the bottom of it, and the tentacles have plastic in them so they crackle - lots of variety Here is a link to it on eBay (this is the small one though) Ebay link Thanks how big is the one in the pictures? My lab would love one of those for her birthday this year! 25", I went looking on ebay some more trying to find the big ones. You can only get them from a few UK sellers, they don't say they do international postage but some will do it. I just bought 4 more last night because they're getting harder to find and with 2 dogs now I think they're going to die faster, and postage was 25 pounds for the 4 of them, not too bad. When I bought two last time postage was 19 pounds so in bulk is best I think, maybe only to a point though. Search GOR PET octopus, the Danish design version is no longer made in the larger size. Thanks! Could you send me the link to who posts to australia i can only see posts within UK. I think thats the perfect birthday present this year! She loves the kong wubbas but likes soft toys best so this may be a perfect mix! Thanks

Hey Aliwake, Abbey used to do this also when she was a pup though once I fixed her diet it stopped. Question - Is this only happening when you give meat? The reason I ask is when I had Abbey on part kibble part meat diet whenever I would give meat her body would over react, once I changed to complete raw it stopped. Im wondering if you went one way or the other if it would make a difference? Or did he have giardia? I cant remember if this was Nixon or not...

I've also recently changed from the injection to tablet form, wi went with valuheart. Abbey was due last month so I left it till start of this month to give the tablet. I thought if they had never had the injection and you wanted to go with the injection the had to be tested, but I also thought there was an age thing as well.... If the are a pup or something and they haven't been on heart worm preventative they don't need a test! I could be wrong ....
