  1. The pom breeder is registered, my main concern was that she had 6 puppies from the one litter and I was advised that this was an impossibility in toy poms so therefore I had doubts that she may not have been truthful in saying that they were all litter mates, after lengthy phone conversations and speaking to her vet, my mind was put at ease in relation to these doubts. The vet was able to confirm that the dam did indeed deliver all 6 puppies. I have grown to like this lady and she is definitely a very caring lady in so many ways that I feel a tad guilty in having doubts but I guess being bitten more than twice I couldn't help it. I have decided to go ahead with the pup and she will be arriving tomorrow. I have copies of the rego papers. She also suggested that I transfer only half of the payment before she arrives and the balance after I've picked her up, there aren't many that would be prepared to take that risk, I don't think I would. Another surprise, I have purchased the japanese spitz as well, I have him with me right this minute, he is gorgeous, please don't come down hard on me for being honest and admitting that he is from a byb, she lives 5 mins down the road from me, I went to her place on 3 separate occasions and got to see the pups and the mum & dad. They are raised superbly and although she may not breed for the show ring, she only breeds one litter a year for the pure enjoyment of it, she is by no means a puppy farmer and in fact is very picky about letting the pups go, she has asked me a myriad of questions to ensure that I know enough about dogs to provide them with adequate care.
  2. Dude, if you put something on the internet it isn't private. But I am glad mum and surviving pups are ok.

    Shy Puppy

Poor little guy, he was sick and in a strange place - I'd probably be a bit shy and cowering too!
  4. I love this response! Quote from her website, about the well planned litter: Below, I have added some pictures of our second litter of puppies - born more than 2 years ago (born on 11 November 2009); that time, we had only four, as it was an unplanned/unwanted pregnancy and the mating happened three weeks after the beginning of Envy's season (with Brutus) when we thought that the 'dangerous time' was over. And I thought my planning skills sucked :p
  5. We don't know that , do we ? ..... They say they are a registered breeder, but Dogs SA doesn't list their prefix. Romanas website: http://polarbearkennel.webs.com/ (complete with pics of an "oops" litter!)
  6. Uhm, was this the bitch with the weird heat cycles from this thread - http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/238028-heat-cycles-only-1-month-apart/
  7. *nods* that's a bit scary, actually ........ And the supposedly experienced breeder also doesn't see an issue with it???
  8. And non-dog show people don't care about title either, so if they don't know what it means it really doesn't matter! Also, if a non-dog show person DOES know what SUP means, it probably still doesn't mean anything to them. Ie: Thanks to this thread, I now know it means "Super" something, but it still means nothing to me :p It sounds like it's used by the OP as a status symbol more than anything.
  9. She's been birthing since 9.30pm in her first litter and the vet doesn't even want to look at her?
  10. Yep, they had issues when they first got him http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/233958-updated-he-has-got-worse/ Seems like they've put so much effort into him though, trying to make him work. I hope you find someone to take him, my first suggestion would be to call the place where you got him from. Thank you Minimax. I made the shelter owner aware of the issues. She has said she would take him back. I then tried suggestions from Dolers which improved things slightly, I emailed the shelter owner saying I would keep her posted but never heard anything back. It sounds like they really dont care about him (or you), which is sad :/ I hope you find someone/somewhere that can help, it's not my area of expertise but I'm sure some others will have some helpful suggestions.

  12. Cute! How are they different from any other toy though, are they just tougher?
  13. Hmm, seems an attitude adjustment might be needed!
  14. He might not like the treats you are offering - they might smell good but taste gross. Have you tried ones of differnt flavours or textures? Seems he likes mince (wet) but spits out dry treats (bread and biscuits). Maybe try using mince as treats, feed him his dinner in training treats?
  15. There are millions of Iphone apps out there, you might need to be a little more specific!!!!
  16. I think the problem is he is used to a playpen, so he's used to peeing and sleeping and eating in the same area so therefor the natural distinction dogs have to not pee where they sleep has been blurred and doesn't exist for him. The other problem I have is that I'm used to female puppies who squat to pee, and when he pee'e he just stands normally and I can't actually tell he's peeing until it's too late or I hear the trickling noise! He also doesn't seem to have anything he does before he pee's, whereas my 10 month old female sniffs in a circle before she pee's, so I could always tell and pick her up and take her out, but he just stops mid-stride and does a wee. He poops on pee pads, and he had pee pads in his play pen at his previous home so he knows what they are for, I think he's just being a cheeky brat. The umbilical line method would probably work - he's my shadow anyway and doesn't tend to go far from me (his nickname is velcro )
  17. My 4 month old (desexed) boy has a charming habit of peeing in his crate, on his "day bed" and in my other dogs bed. I've only had him for a few weeks, so I'm trying to break his old bad habits and train him into new habits but I'm lost as to how to do that. As a general rule I don't scold for peeing in the wrong spot when it comes to toilet training, but I'm thinking there isn't any other way for him to get the hint that it's the wrong thing to do? I could close off his crate so he can't access it, but that sort of defeats the purpose of his crate, and it's not teaching him not to go in there to pee. I feed him in his crate, he happily takes toys and treats into his crate, and he still goes in there specifically to pee. He's not peeing in there when locked in, he's peeing in there when he has a choice of a pee pad, which he will poop on and sometimes pee on - but he prefers to pee in the crate or on a dog bed. Apart from locking away all the dog beds so he can't access them (which I normally do, but it's a short term solution, not a long term one) - how can I go about teaching him the appropriate/inappropriate places for peeing? If I put him outside he will pee straight away, which is great and I'm using that to teach him to pee on command, so hopefully that will help eventually. Please none of the "let him out more often" stuff - he will often come inside after peeing and pee in my other dogs bed, it's like he saves some specially for that :p
  18. I hate that cold shiver that goes through you when you realise they've jumped off the bed for the first time. I felt like running and getting kiddy barriers put up so mine couldn't get off, I didn't want him to do it! I don't like the idea of it, and make sure my 4 month old isn't on the bed unsupervised and therefor lessen the chance of him jumping off. I don't mind him jumping off the lounge as it's pretty low, but I definetly don't encourage it.
  19. Yay, we need to see pics when you're done! I'm hoping to take mine out dragon boat training on Sunday, which won't be very thrilling pictures for most people but will be fun for me to be able to take pics in the boat and on the water.
  20. Have you been to the natural vet in Russell Lea? All Natural Vet Care, I think they are called. I've not been there but heard good things about them for treatment of illnesses that no traditional vets could help with.
  21. It's not treatment, only diagnosis cost us 1200, and that's without biopsy. Wow!
