  1. Water fountains - those decorative ones you find in peoples yards etc Max will stop and growl at them, or refuse to walk past them, which is hilarious because she loves water, especially the hose or sprinkler!
  2. Poor little guy is just scared of the dark. Max is scared of the dark, won't go at night unless I go with her. Won't even jump off the bed until I turn a light on, poor little precious thing lol As for the wet weather peeing, she's pee pad trained so it isn't a huge issue. I still prefer her to go outside though (except in the middle of the night because I refuse to have a wet and cold puppy on the bed lol), it's only rain. It won't kill her, and it won't kill the house if she comes inside wet!
  3. I feed BARF, I avoid processed/commercial dog food as much as possible and feed fresh good stuff. My pug is far from fussy, she will eat anything from cardboard to wagyu steak :p
  4. I'd hope the breeder would at least mention the issues to a potential buyer ... but they probably won't :/ Have you looked further into the breeder to see if anyone else has had similar issues? Do they adverise here on DOL?
  5. Just saw the article linked on facebook by the RSPCA!
  6. Or go and stock up on a pre-made BARF and feed that!
  7. Who/where is "it" And your point is?? I have a feeling this is all coming from the ever reliable wikipedia!
  8. I'll admit I would have to be the most anti-kibble/anti-dry food/anti-filler person on the planet (cept I don't claim that potatoes are better than grain lol). I feed raw because my pup loves it and because it's good for her and isn't full of crap she doesn't need. The second thing I'll admit is that I'm the most unknowledgeable person when it comes to what quantities of what and how often when it comes to raw feeding, so I do the sensible thing and buy pre-made patties made by someone who DOES know what they are doing. I don't think it's more expensive than making your own (especially not if you weigh up cost vs benefit) and you're not d*cking around with something important like your dogs health. So whatever moral high ground you're attempting to take with the anti-grain/pro-potato kibble, and although I totally applaud you wanting to try something better for your dog by feeding raw - doing something half a$$ed isn't doing her any good in the long run.
  9. I'm well aware of that, but MTS hasn't done any sort of elim diet though, her dog farts on a certain brand of food so she's decided the dog allergic to a protein, when it probably isn't.
  10. Someone was offended by that? Oh dear, what is the world coming to Lj was a craze? I still use my LJ more than I use my left hand :p
  11. How on earth did you reach a conclusion that she is allergic to lamb???
  12. Whatever fits into your schedule - not his schedule (definetly no 4am brekkies lol) I get up at 6am for work during the week, so my 8 month old pup gets fed at 6am and 6pm (there was a midday feed in there when she was younger). In hindsight, I would leave at least a half hour gap between me wakeing up and feeding pup, because she learnt pretty quickly me waking up = breakfast, so there is no chance of me laying there for a while! Max knows her feeding times, even a few minutes past 6pm she comes to tell me off for being late with her dinner. And now on the weekends shes (finally!!!!) starting to learn that its fun to get up at 6am for brekkie and then go back to bed for a few hours
  13. You can clearly see the OP doesn't come back to the thread after the initial post.
  14. How old is the puppy now? You say you spend 4-6 hours a day training it? I'm not surprised it's stressed with that amount of training :/ What sort of love and fun and general "being a puppy" does it have?
  15. And what did the breeder say when you contacted them?
  16. Well, he'd probably only try the chilli once!
  17. Tape his mouth shut! (that was a joke) Have you tripe the bitter wound spray you can get, to see if that helps him leave it?
  18. lol I heard it on the radio last night, and they had people calling in with the weird things they had done to their pets after they died. Some people had done some awesomely weird things with their pets - like made rocking horses (rocking dogs?) for the kids out of the pet dogs.
  19. When I picked up my pup from Sydney airport they didn't ask to see my paperwork or ID or anything, and I was really surprised. Anyone could go and pick up any pup, and no one would know who they were or where it went!
  20. Jump on over to the pug thread and ask questions, you'll get good pug specific advice there. Plus you can always ask your breeder. Where did you get your gorgeous baby from? I desexed my female pug at 6 months. I wanted to do her earlier but for whatever reason my vet had a blanket 6 month guideline and wouldn't do her earlier. I believe the younger the better, but talk to those more experienced (and your vet).
  21. My pup can be clingy, her nickname is shadow or velco :p Can't go for a pee without her there poking her head into your undies, or recently she think *awesome, you're sitting there not doing anything I'll bring you a toy and you can play with me!* However, she's fine to be alone if we aren't home. She figured out pretty early on she can carry on all she wants, but if no one is home, no one is coming to rescue her. Have you ever snuck home, or set up a webcam to see what you pup does when you aren't home? You might be surprised. I do have similar issues as you though, if pup knows I'm home she doesn't like being seperated. Whether shes outside, or crated, or whatever, she has tantrums if we are home and she can't get to us. I remove anything she can hurt herself on (we have baby gates up, so she can throw herself at those all she likes, and she can't hurt herself) and let her have tantrums. Maybe not the most effective thing ever, but after trying every other trick in the book to make her quiet without it working, I gave up. She can tantrum if she wants, I figure sooner or later she might realise it's much more fun to settle down and nap, or eat the tasty treat she's been left with!
