Bookdepository have really quick shipping. If you're really worried about price, check .com against .co.uk but .co.uk is usually still a few cents cheaper

Haha, love you for this.

I was going to fly my dog with me from Sydney to Melbourne when I went recently, but try and find a hire car company that will allow a pet in the car! So unless you have a relative or friends car for transport around your destination, getting there isn't the problem - it's the getting around once you're there. I ended up driving to Melbourne coz it was easier having my own car down there with the dog lol
-
I considered it, but there are just way too many people and dogs crammed into a small space for my liking.

Might sound silly, but have you done a google search? I googled, came up with sumopaint? It wasn't on your list? or Phixr? Splashup? Ipiccy? pixenate? cellsea? I got all these from a google search.

I think it's different to pat a dog sitting outside a supermarket or something - peoples arguments for not patting dogs at shows are that you might ruin it for the show ring, that argument doesn't apply to a dog tied up to a chair while the owner buys milk (which I think is an irresponsible thing to do in the first place, but that's not the point of this thread). Apart from the point that patting a strange dog is never a wise thing to do for your own safety, an "object" left alone does tend to become public property in the eyes of society. Although I've noticed even when sitting outside in cafe's and having my puppy's leash attached to my chair makes her public property and means people can come up and pick her up (yes, pick her up!!!!) to give her a cuddle.

I don't think I've ever seen a brown pug? And anyway I would have thought that a pug being a pug is fairly obvious? (to me anyway)They are rather unique! I assume by brown they mean fawn ;) But know you, you get those "experts" who have seen one pug in their life and therefor know everything about them! Just sitting in Melbourne outside a supermarket for 10 minutes one morning, waiting for my OH to come out, I had 3 different people ask me what she was crossed with, and one refused to believe me when I said she wasn't a cross, she was pure.

My favourite place for dog tags is Daisy & Dukes on Etsy - http://www.etsy.com/shop/FancyTag They are amazingly cheap for what they are, not just crappy printed tags on a bit of thin metal like most out there. They are also fast, 10 days from order to my door from the US. Annnd best of all, Pug proof! Max wears her swimming, and chomps on it when I accidently leave her harness within chomping reach, and it's survived (more than I can say for the printed thin metal ones, which now have lovely teeth marks in them lol) But I have an obsession with tags, Max has about 10000 of them, I change them regularly :D

What if your neighbours weren't home while you were out? How do your animals have access to free themselves plus also be safely contained? Genuine question - my neighbours all work, if a fire started here all my pets would be burnt to a crisp as I have gone to a lot of trouble and cost to ensure all my animals are contained appropriately. Same here. I don't think the "I told you so" attitude is fair, just because they sell live pets and they had a fire.

Hi Guys, I'm New! Just A Couple Of Questions
minimax replied to bigbadwolf's topic in General Dog Discussion
What sort of pups are they? Usually there is nothing wrong with the pups being with someone else, I know someone who currently has pups at someone else's house due to circumstances that were unforseen by all involved! There are many reasons people have their pups at other houses other than their own, it doesn't mean they are dodgy. I don't know how pedigree papers are written, I'm sure someone who breeds can help you out there though. Good on you for doing your research though :) -
Oh that's sad, I go to that petshop sometimes.
-
Not quite breed misidentification, but sort of - my black pug often gets accused of being a cross because "pugs aren't black, they are brown".

In NSW at the moment there are ads on the back of some taxi's that are about Guide Dogs and how they are allowed everywhere (with a picture showing a guide dog getting into a taxi). So there must have been enough issues to warrant that, and hopefully that will raise some awareness.

I Don't Know What Or How To Feed Anymore :(

Why does he need to be on dry food? -
Also, what sort of a "punishment" is an $880 fine for the motel? Paying that is barley is going to teach them a lesson, if it's enforced (which it probably won't be).
-
Probably not, but I didn't really take notice of that specifically.

I got this one: http://www.kongcompany.com/products/dogs/e-collar-and-grooming/ez-soft-collar Surprisingly it was in a pet shop, I thought I'd need to get one from overseas. edit: I don't know what size your boy is, but my collar is a small (bought for a pug) and we only used it once and now don't need it if you want to try it?
-
I used a fabric one on my pup when she was desexed and it was much better than the clunky plastic one because she could move and lay down with it. It was still uncomfortable, but it was only $15 so if the one you saw wasn't too expensive, you may as well try it.

Unpalatable is very different to not being safe for consumption. -

If I wouldnt eat it, why should I expect my dog to? Ok, so I have to use some imagination when it comes to that theory, as I'm vegetarian lol but feed meat to my pup, but my theory is more of a a general "if a reasonable human wouldn't eat it, why should I expect my dog to". If its not for human consumption - its not for dog consumption in my eyes. Edit: this only applies to the bulk of her diet, not her "junk food" (ie: treats) just realised it made me sound like a complete weirdo lol -
What I don't understand is how hard is it for an agent to write "no pets" on the ad, as opposed to making people ask and risk getting bitchy responses in return. Some agents/owners make people with pets feel like the absolute scum of the earth, when it really is common these days to have a pet! And really, you could do what millions of others do and move in your pet without asking, so they should be grateful you are asking in the first place. I feel your pain, having just been through the same thing :) Another tip: don't email - call. You'll usually get a better response over the phone as people are a lot bitchier over email and lot more willing to say no, over the phone you also have more chance to sell yourself and your case.

You don't need pre-school to start training, I'd be starting now, at least with recall and sit.
