My pup quickly learnt not to do it only when I was carrying the spray bottle ;) Then she learnt to LIKE the spray bottle and would come to me when I was carrying it especially for a spray down! Argh, little monster she is lol Now the main time she gets bitey and chases feet is when I pick up her poop. So I don't know what poop pickup says to a dog, but it sends her on a crazy foot chasing spree to the point where last night I needed to get someone to come rescue me from her because she had me bailed up in the corner lol (scary 6 month old pug) :p

Pretty much. My pup LOVES attacking my feet at certain times, and if I react she goes for 10 times as long. If I let her do it, she takes off with my sock, or attackes my toes and gets bored within a few seconds and moves onto the next thing. It's the reaction, or the "game" she is after, and you are giving it to her by picking her up or reacting in any way. edit: in puppy pre-school they taught me to distract the pup with a "sit" or "drop" each time they were doing something like that, which I found highly inaffective personally because she was too hyper, but you could start with the training now to use as a re-focus tool in times like these.

I know people selling pug pups at the moment, $1400 for "purebred" (ie: "mother has papers"!). Makes me cry. Wish I was in the mood for investigating, I'd enquire and try to find out the mums details, see if her original breeder knows she's being used as a puppy factory.

In NSW (where the OP is from), pet bonds are illegal. Please check your facts before providing incorrect information. source: http://www.lawsociety.com.au/idc/groups/public/documents/internetyounglawyers/027213.pdf

Because they can?

I stayed in East Melbourne/Richmond last week, at Birches Services Apartments, with my Pug. http://www.birches.com.au/ I'd definitely recommend them if travelling with a small dog or two and wanting to stay close to the city. They ask you to take something to cover the lounges and beds if the dogs will be on them, and since all the furniture is white (although "lived in" condition, not new) I think that's fair. (although I did see some other rooms and they had black lounges, so not all rooms had white). The room did have carpet, but it was "lived in" as well, and not perfectly clean so I didn't spend the whole time worrying Max would dirty it from all the sticks she sneaks in from her walks. The staff there are lovely and friendly, there is carparking on site and supermarkets within walking distance. Cafe's also within walking distance that have outdoor pet friendly tables, and a few restaurants. Tram stop almost at the door, and you can legally smuggle dogs on trams in Melbourne! Also lots of parks close by, including some off-leash ones.

I love it when two squishie-faces play bitey faces, they sort of end up either kissing, or moving to bitey necks because there is no face to bite lol

That running like an idiot IS her sign that she needs to go! You need to watch her and when she does it, give her the command to go outside. Mine does the same thing, I can now recognise the silly run and distract her. As soon as I say her name during her silly run, she dashes outside, so she KNOWS where she should be, she just likes to test the boundaries sometimes.

I've just been through a similar thing, finding a new place to live with my pup. When you're looking at places, keep in mind that if it's a newish place, or has lots of carpet, it will pretty much be an automatic "no" on the pets! You may have to compromise on what you want in order to find somewhere, and you might find you don't actually need to jump through so many hoops with pet resumes etc. You see a place you like, you call and say you have a small dog, will that be a problem. You'll get an immediate "no that's not a problem", or a "uh we'll consider it" which usually means no. I got a place today actually (yipee!) - and it's fully tiled throughout the whole house (even bedrooms!) which is awesome coz carpet sucks with puppies (I have a 6 month old pup, and another arriving in July). It took a few disappointments when places I loved wouldn't accept pets (sometimes even if the ads said pets considered, they said they wouldn't consider it lol). also, don't click the "pets allowed" options on domain.com.au etc, no one uses it I found, even if they allow pets so it limits your results. So, yeh. Good luck, keep at it. Don't over-do it, and don't offer anything extra. It's illegal for them to charge more bond etc for pets in NSW.

Death Of A Pet Can Hurt As Much As Loss Of A Relative
minimax replied to Perry's Mum's topic in General Dog Discussion
Also depends on the relative. -
Perhaps the person from http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/235712-which-breed-for-me/ would be into an 8 year old Tibbie?

It really has nothing to do with believing Novartis (or any other manufacturer) It comes down to common sense, the law of physics and several other factors. I hope that makes sense⦠(the more onions the better IMO) Agreed. For the sake of a few dollars, why risk it?

Considering I love my dog an awful lot more than some of my relatives, I can't say this is much of a surprise! -
whoa! It is a thorough mis-conception that Great Danes need a huge backyard :) I was asking more along the "do you have grass" line of things, rather than the literal :p Yep, a 5 month old Pug who lives in an apartment with a balcony and is pee pad trained, which is why I was asking if she had a balcony, because I was going to suggest pee pads (or similar) if she did. I'm mentally picturing a great dane sized crate and am thinking it would be the size of my bedroom
-
ACV and eucalyptus can help because fleas don't like living in the PH environment of the skin they create, which is different to just washing them out with a soap/wool wash etc
-
You bought a great dane puppy, without research, in a small unit? do you have a backyard or just a balcony?
-
Apple cider vinegar helps - a diluted rinse after a shampoo, also rinse bedding etc. it's less harsh than eucalyptus oil and wool wash.

In that pic does your pup have a life jacket on?

+1 on this. Or an adult black.

Did you get a response back from the guy, or do you think he was just trolling? -
My pug puppy loves the water - anything from the beach to the bay to the bath (!!!!) to the water spray. If it's wet, she's in it! Pity she sinks like a rock, need to get her a little life jacket so she can go out with the "big kids" and not just stay where she can stand!

I don't understand the logic of why an an older dog should be "cheaper" than a younger dog. You pay more for aged wine, and more for aged beef - why should you pay less for an aged dog? Anyway. You were much more diplomatic in your response than I would have been :D -
Are any of the Sydney meetups still active on DOL? If not - is anyone interested in trying to get a semi-regular meetup happening for Sydneysiders?

Honestly, even a bit of a simple google search will let you know these days whether a breeder is reputable or not. People are often quick to post online these days about negative experiences, and those come up in google searches. If you can't find much info about a breeder via google, it doesn't necessarily mean they are dodgy, it just means you need to do further research.
