  1. It was resurrected by someone who wants to BYB her girl and wants advice
  2. I'd not heard that. Just googled and some shark cartlidge products say not suitable for puppies, but can't find a reason for it. And anything I can find is using it as a treatment for things, not just an occasional treat. I've thrown mine out anyway, since it made my 8 month old pup pukey.
  3. Normally one would do that before signing up with someone!
  4. My pup had some of the shark cartilage treats the other night for the first time, and it made her really pukey. She's a pug with a cast iron stomach, so I was surprised. They must be quite strong and rich in oils.
  5. I actually don't think the survey writer was aware that raw feeding was even an option, it was very "canned" "dry" or "table scraps" like there were no other options available.
  6. With completly inaccurate results :p Pretty much! the concept sounds interesting though Yep, done properly it could be quite interesting!
  7. Also, the cupboard probably smells like you, so try placing a word shirt of yours in the crate with him. Just pick a place and stick to it, changing his "safe places" is unsettling for him and going to cause issues.
  8. My pup has taken to peeing in the lounge room (where the heater is) when it's cold outside. She will look at me as she pees on the rug, even though she's toilet trained and has no issues going in the right spot any other time. It's only when the lounge room is nice and warm will she not go elsewhere
  9. Maybe not fair, but true. It presumes all dog owners are dumb idiots who overfeed their dogs crappy food, and presumes all dogs have bad food habits. And the results will prove this is correct as there are no other answers available! What will the results be used for? Seems like a survey with an agenda.
  10. I'm doing it now, but finding a lot of the questions don't have an accurate answer. A "free choice" or "other". For example, my dog is under 1 year old, but the only choices for age are "1-4" What type of food do you feed your dog? None of the options fit, I feed raw. I guess "Home cooked" would be most appropriate, although "cooked" isn't true. I'm considering not submitting the survey because my answers won't be accurate.
  11. Is the "naughty room" dark, and the crate not dark?
  12. My little one didn't have a gurgly tummy, but she still puked on the bed during the night. Maybe it was just one of those nights where all the dogs of the country decided to gang up and have tummy troubles just to annoy us :p
  13. Wtf, someone shot a kitten with an air rifle? I have no words *hugs*
  14. That's not an elimination diet, nor has it anything to do with an elimination diet though. You merely changed their food.
  15. This story just sounds so dodgy. What vet hears of a sick dog and says "nah, we don't need to see her. Let's wait a month?" Unless they owe the vet an awful lot of money. Even then, most vets would still see the dog, surely. Hopefully the vet is buying themselves some time while they call the authorities and have the dog taken away to a good home
  16. I'm not worried if my dog doesn't like it, I'll have it!
  17. Interesting advice, considering the majority of kibble is filler ;)
  18. I bought a heartbeat pillow for my new pup (I got her in summer, so didn't need one with heat), she loved it. Well ... loved attacking it. She never got any comfort from it, she took all her agression out on it At first she was scared of it, but once she got over that, she would pounce on it to make it start beating, and then growl at it and shake it to try and kill it. Now, at 7 months old, she will still sometimes dig it out from the bottom of her toy box to kill sometimes :D
  19. What brand of BARF? Most have other veggies and fruits and stuff thrown in, so that's really not going to help if he has a reaction to something. I would presume a good elimination diet eliminates as much as possible!
  20. Sometimes a price can give an indication of the type of breeder as well. When I was looking for my pup, I got several "x amount with papers, x amount without papers" answers from breeders that seemed really decent, so that automatically chopped them off my list. Some might see asking for a price as tacky or cheap or whatever, but honestly, 99% of the time it's a deal breaker in decision making. That being said, my pup is 8 weeks old, coming home after he's been desexed at 13 weeks, and I've not yet asked how much he is So maybe there is a compromise between not asking up front, but asking at some stage before you pick them up :p
  21. Plus we needs pics of the new puppy - come on over to the pug thread please :D :D :D
  22. There are so many pet insurance threads already.
  23. I use ceramic because they are heavy enough that they stay in the one spot, and the pug doesn't chase them all around the room whilst eating!
