I sure hope you loudly express this opinion should you ever need the help of the police or other people who put their lives on the line each day.

Food Issues, Struvite Crystals And Allergies..
minimax replied to will_454's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I used to mix the cranberry powder in with the yoghurt to disguise it as well, but now I make my own raw mix I break open a trillion little capsules and they go into the bulk mix. You can also dissolve a capsule into a little warm water and put it into their food. The thing with cranberry is it stops any bacteria sticking to the bladder walls, so if there is any infection it won't take hold. It's definitely one thing to keep up, and even though my pugs last crystal breakout was over a year ago, and her last UTI months before that, I keep her on the cranberry and probably always will. -

Is she on cranberry powder? With my girl who had crystals and high pH, we were on the acidurin for months to get the pH to stabilise, two weeks sounds pretty quick. I added apple cider vinegar to my girls diet (but she was fed raw anyway) as well as cranberry powder and over time her pH began to stabilise and we weaned off the acidurin and the pH behaved. -

This was said after the decision had been made to abort the accidental pregnancy, and probably spay. Perhaps I should have said... " *sheepish face* I guess I'm like everyone else in thinking that mine are the best haha" .... I was actually admitting that I was like a lot of uninformed / inexperience owners who state this as one of the main reasons they want a litter from their dogs. This idea had been corrected after reading a lot of information on the forum and getting advice from others. At least quote the full statement - I was answering someone's question about whether I would meet all the costs and ensure puppies were all vaccinated, microchipped etc etc If I did have the litter. Just because I'm not registered doesn't mean I don't give a rats a*s about the health and safety of any pups I was responsible for. Again, this was a hypothetical question anyway as we were not intending on having the litter. No, (luckily?) you were going to wait until she was 2 1/2 before mating them.

Actually, it was because you were going to breed your dogs because you thought they were the best, and because (and let me quote you here) "I know the general attitude on this forum is that only registered breeders can be ethical but I personally don't subscribe to that idea."

which you were going breed she doesn't want to be a registered breeder, she wants to be a byb. she's stated that several times.

Confused As To What To Do Next?
minimax replied to julesluvscavs's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Sorry Jules, hugs to you and the cavs -
I've had the "they can't be pugs, they are too big. All the black pugs I know are tiny". That's because all the black pugs you know are byb with noses and long legs, trust me, mine are normal sized pigs. Oh, or the owner of a 8 month old black pug x something with a nose that I mistook for an 8 week old because it was so tiny "so mine will grow up to look like yours?" I was a bit brutal with my response to that one.
-
I had a similar one the other day - "Oh he's just playing" as their JRT x something was growling and had my dog by the scruff. Well go play somewhere else, I don't like that style of "play", especially as we had walked past before and he darted out from under their table to nip and growl at my dogs and they gazed lovingly at him

I had a dog who hit the ground everytime you came near him with a harness or collar, and he lived with me from the minute he was born so I know he was not abused. Out of context, someone may have said he was hit with a leash or something and that's why he hit the ground - but he was just a bit strange

Ignore other people, don't do anything until you're comfortable. But definitely give your trainer a ring and ask for some advice or details on what they suggest, as there are different "methods" of raw feeding and you may need to figure out what works best for you and your dog. You could do minced chicken frames to get a quantity of bone, without feeding actual bone, and even mix up some veggies in there with the mince if you wanted to. I used to train my pup with her BARF dinner until it just got too messy and wasn't practical because of all the blood/wet content, but if you've got a larger dog you could have chopped up bits of meat with veg, or mince, or even chopped up chicken necks etc

If you read the post you would have seen that the OP's trainer who is well regarded has recommended Raw, who are you to suggest kibble? Nothing wrong with sticking with what they are currently feeding while they research, get off your high horse. Ahh, so you also know more about this dog and training than Steve Cortney??? Pfttt, go figure! Nah, let's do it your way and swap the dogs food over completely in one day from kibble to beef mince and see how it goes, with an owner who isn't confident with that. Great idea

I usually monitor for a week or two and see if it grows. I had one on Boston that started out like a pimple, and within a week it had doubled it size, so that was a vet trip. She let it grow as it was suspected histiocytoma, but it got so big it was eventually biopsied and removed (and confirmed benign) but since it grew so rapidly I worried. Now anytime he has a lump I worry, but wait and see if it grows or develops over a week. If not, I mention it at the next vet trip.

Advice Please (please Be Kind)

This is a forum for purebred, registered dogs, and registered breeders. If you want to be a backyard breeder, perhaps this isn't the right place for you. -
this is the correct link

Oh, that's good (in a way). I was a the vet with my pug the other day who is having chesty wheezey issues, and the vet said although Max just has hayfever, they are having another round of kennel cough type symptoms this season - the second strain in a few months and the symtoms are slightly different to the strain they saw a few months ago.

Is this in the US or Australia?

See, if I was going to get a subscription box for my dogs, and I looked into many because I love random mail  I'd want things I couldn't easily buy in the shops ... and none of them offered that. Even that OllyBox, it's got products you buy at Woolies. For something that price, I'd want something my local supermarket doesn't sell for $5 and you're reselling to me at 5 times the price. I don't known people jumping in and cashing up on peoples willingness to spend money on gimmicks, but until something unique is offered, I'm just not buying it.

How Do You Deal With Persistent Barking In An Older Dog?
minimax replied to kelpiecuddles's topic in General Dog Discussion
One of my pugs is "chatty", but he doesn't tend to bark much when people aren't home, he barks like he's joining in conversation, talking etc Its annoying, but I've yet to find a way to train him out of it! Since yours is an adult do you know if she barks now when alone etc? -
omg, Widge snuggling puppy *fallsover*

Walking a dog isn't rocket science, especially if you own dogs.
