  1. I would go for another pair of Wahl KM2, work has the Osters & I don't like them, they are too heavy, & when they warm up they don't cut very well, so I use my own Wahls at work
  2. That's great news, fingers crossed for a complete recovery.
  3. No Diuretics for Misty, she has NEVER had anything apart from Enxyplex for her Pancrieatitis, she is a tough old biddy, who just happens to be my VERY BEST FRIEND. We had to buy a new fridge as she used to break into the old one & steal things, one day she ate a 5 litre container of puppy mince, a 1/2 block of cheese, a tub of sour cream & 1/2 a can of scotch, she spewd & shat for days, I have so many wonderful memories of her & I know it is all part of life BUT I am not ready for her to go.
  4. Last Saturday she had a episode where we thought we were going to lose her, turns out she has Geriatric Vesticle Disease which she has made a amazing recovery, she still has a head tilt, but is managing very well, can get up the stairs now with out falling over as much. Well yesterday she went in for Xrays on her heart, as soon as I saw them I knew something was wrong, when the vet came to look at them she didn't say anything for what seemed forever, her heart is HUGE!!!! & she is to start heart meds to help it cope with the stress it is under. After last week I had resigned myself to the fact we were going to lose her, the heartache was unbearable, now it looks like I will have to go through it all over again, I just hope I have the strength to do it.
  5. Are they suppose to get worse before they get better, she is still eating, but is having alot of trouble walking.
  6. No there was no treatment given, from what I have been reading I think she was/is a very lucky girl. She has had a couple of nasty ear infections & the dog we had in at work with it also had very manky ears.
  7. Thanks Per, that has made me feel better as Misty can eat & drink by herself & also toilet already, so that has lifted my spirits. It is such a scary thing to watch your best friend go through.
  8. My old Misty woke me this morning stumbling about the bed at 4.30am, I thought she was having a fit which she does rarely. She was very disorientated & seemed stressed & proceeded to pee on the bed. She had a very badly tilted head, I laid with her & she went back to sleep, however her eyes were very twitchy, so I bundled her off to the vets. Lucky I work there, & the vet came in and examined her & said it was GVD & there was no treatment & gave her a good prognosis. Seems MOST dogs recover very well. We kept an eye on her all morning while I was at work, but she HATES being at the vets & was getting very stressed, so when Mum came to pick her up you could see her relax striaght away. She came home & had some chicken and a drink which is a great sign as the only way MOST dogs can die from this is dehydration as they can't control themselves enough to drink. She is walking alot better, still doing circles, but not falling over as much, it truely is a horrid thing to see, & I was sure she wasn't coming home today, but she is a tough old biddy & at 15 we are hopeful she will make a full recovery. I am adding the link if anyone is interested in it, seems it only occurs in old dogs, and prevalent to dogs that have had ear problems, and quite amazingly we had another old dog in today with the exact same problem. https://www.vetconnect.com.au/5min/data/00740075.htm
  9. A trip to the vet should get it sorted, they will be able to show you different techniques of feeding the pup. I personally don't do tube feeding either, I prefer the bottle or syringe.
  10. So very sorry for your loss, you must be devastated, take care.
  11. I was just thinking the same thing Rysup, Not sure what you are saying PW, Am glad it is not just me though.
  12. Too sad for me, your words show just how much you loved her & I am sure she knows it, it is the hardest thing we can do for our mates.
  13. What a bummer I am working that night, please let us know when there is another one.
  14. Absolute tragedy for Mal & Faye, my heart is breaking for them.
  15. That was so very good, what a great tribute to a special girl.
  16. so very sorry to of the loss of your beautiful Paris, hugs to you & OH
  17. It's up to you whethter you clip it or not, If you can't look after it then yes clip it, if you do have the time to groom it, then groom it, Really just wanted to say what a gorgoeus doggie you have there, a real sweetie.
  18. We had a presentation at work last week from the Frontline people. 99% of dogs that have fleas have CAT fleas, so I would definately be treating your yard, vacumming all your carpet etc etc. The difference between Frontline Plus & Advantage are that the frontline " PLUS " also makes the female fleas infertile, so when you get to the end of the monthly dose, MOST of the female fleas cannot reproduce. Which ever one you use make sure you use it every month other wise you will not break the cycle.
  19. I found this site helpful http://www.iris-kidney.com/ and this one, good luck. http://www.vetprof.com/clientinfo/KidneyDi...nDogs/index.htm
  20. That is lovely Harminee thank you very much I am sure CL really appreciates it. Rest In Peace Lord Huck, it is so damn hard to loose them so young.
  21. Since i have started working at a vet clinic, I will NEVER quibble about how much they charge again, they put soooo much work into each case, often spending hours of their own time researching different problems. If they don't know something they make every effort to find the best possible solution.
  22. vMjv that is one cute little pup you have there, im sure you will have years of joy with him so long as you do all the right things now.
  23. I guess it depends on what time of the day he was done, if it is a busy clinic he may not have been done till later in the day, hence why he is taking so long to recover If you are concerned ring them & tell them of your concerns
  24. Thinking of you, and safe journey Biddy , she will be waiting for you. We also call our 15 year old Biddy, short for Biddy Fat Pants, how they enrich our lives.
