  1. A little bit over the top in the anthropomorphism department Looks just like a Lab to me...struggling to find the Husky part!? Could just be cos she's got such a short coat. And the overweight-ness I think the saddest part of this is that the owners feel victimised by the rangers who don't seem to be very educated? It's just their word against the law. Everyone - better keep your SWFs out of sight! They'll be next!!
  2. Ahh yup ok. Haha I seriously never thought of giving dogs the whole egg
  3. Not trying to be rude or anything.. But are there ever any problems with dogs getting egg shells stuck in their gums or anything?
  4. Eww..I could never share food/plates with my dog I know dogs who eat dead sheep AND roll in it (just being dogs) so I can't bring myself to let those grotty mouths near mine
  5. Golly... It's such a shame that kids aren't taught from a young age that throwing sand/rocks/sticks is dangerous?? I mean, not to wrap every kid in cotton wool, but seriously - follow those rules and MOST of the time, everyone should manage to keep their eyeballs. *steps off soapbox* Hope your dog is ok. I would've been furious too...too shy to yell at the stupid mother of the brats but man I would've thunk it in my head
  6. I think Mandira is nice :) Personally, it's my favourite in the thread :p
  7. Pretty sure the phenylbutazone is a pain killer (bute)?
  8. Naawww!!! Hope your son and his new pup have plenty of wonderful adventures
  9. True. But you notice how I didn't elaborate on the pet medicare? I never said that everybody should be entitled to full cover or anything like that. My main point was that many animals get put down because the owners couldn't afford say $500-$2000. If you claim to be a pet lover, then surely you would be a little disturbed by this. I don't think it's anyone else's business regarding whether someone "saves" their dog or puts it down due to not being able to afford treatment. In my opinion, if you want a pet, you have to take into account worst-case scenarios and decide what you're prepared to do. So what if owners have to put their pet down due to not being able to afford treatment. The animal doesn't know any different! Humans put way too many human emotions onto animals, where all they care about is security, food & company.
  10. Huh. Entitled much? Personally I think the world/country could be improved with many things, Pet Medicare is not one of them. The elderly & disabled should be more of a priority.
  11. Fingers crossed for your dogs!!! Hope they're ok.
  12. Gosh that Boxer is a bit of a drama queen about morning time!!!! So cute :D
  13. I got asked to google Tea-Cup Chihuahuas yesterday. I did my best to say they're not a "real" breed...there's just normal Chihuahuas... got funny looks Luckily, we ended up on the DOL puppies page for Chihuahuas where it said that Tea Cup Chis are a scam :D
  14. Definitely depends on the kid and what kind of dogs they're used to. :)
  15. Exactly! My dog hasn't had anything bad happen to him, except very little socialisation in public (has plenty of dogs in his "pack" at home - all BCs though) so that along with his natural tendency towards being timid made him a very timid guy when I got him as a 3 year old. I will admit though, that perhaps if he were socialised when he were younger, before I got him, his timidness wouldn't have developed so much But gosh, the way some people asked "what's happened to him!?" when I was first socialising him...
  16. Maybe for unfriendly dogs (or aggressive, if you want to call it that...) there needs to be a similar rule to what they have with horses that kick. Like a red ribbon tied to it's collar or something... Just as a universal thing saying "Don't pat this dog - ever" so that if the owner (like this bloke) has earphones on and doesn't hear you to say "no, they're funny" you'll see anyway because they have a ribbon. I dunno, could be too simplistic but it works at Pony Club
  17. Great video! Thanks for sharing! :) Most of them were pretty recognisable :) I was surprised how solid the Weimaraners were Not sure about the Scottish Terrier though...his bum didn't match his front end :p
  18. Hahaha. Or in my dog's case, he'll sit on the ute at night waiting for us to go to work
  19. I absolutely agree - those leads are useless bits of crap. I was walking my rather timid BC on a quiet road and some stupid woman with a JRT came up, let the stupid thing stretch his lead out and it came roaring up to Toby growling and barking. Poor Toby thought it was the end of the world and tried to get behind me . I didn't have much time to react, so the little dog got behind me to get to Toby who was trying to get away & I ended up trapped with this stringy stuff around my legs (so taking scissors next time - snip snip, end of lead) ARGH. Stupid owner was still at least 3m away. Yelling out "Ohh he's friendly, he just wants to say hi" Yeah try telling that to my dog who is completely crapping his daks! If you don't want your dog pulling, try actually training it before you get one of those idiotic leads.
  20. I have an outside dog, a Border Collie. He's partly working dog (goes on the ute to "help" my husband out/keep him company during the day) and partly pet (so he's useless with sheep :p but he's good company). I actually don't really like having him outside all the time - as soon as it warms up a bit I want to wash him (at the moment he's rather muddy and dusty from general dam swimming, running in mud, sitting on the ute, exploring under the house, other dog stuff...) and give him a 'mat' that he can sleep on inside on the lino. I'm rather stingy with where dogs can go in the house :p definitely not on carpet and definitely NOT on the bed or couch ever. Probably a case of how I was bought up more than anything. We (oh, as in my family...before I was married) had a little dog who's now 14 who has always been an outside dog. Only ever was allowed inside for about 10 minutes when we washed her, after that she was back to "dog" status and had to stay outside :p still got plenty of fun - she loves going on the ute with dad, sunbathing, being bossed around by my little brother (or by me when I was younger and still at home)... Oh yeah and used to come along with me on my horse-rides :) I think, on a farm, it's hard to have dogs inside - they go out and play in mud/dirt/dust and get covered in crap and dead sheep smell and ew. So unless you want to wash a dog every single day, hell to the no to having them inside
  21. My little dog did it - I said other because I usually laugh my head off. But she did it so rarely that it was cute when she was 'feeling crazy' enough to do it :p I will admit that I never thought of dogs that obsessively chase their tail. I'd say it depends on the dog :) with my little dog it was a fun thing she did occasionally (like zoomies - she'd get so excited she runs around the house then stop and chase her tail then lay down panting ) but with a dog that has a tendency to do it obsessively to the point of harming it's health, I'd definitely be stopping it.
  22. Not all terriers run off :) I had a little cross when I was younger and she was a shadow!! Very keen to please and lots of fun. When we went on holidays we put her on the lead, cos that's the rules...but never needed to, except when she saw another dog :p bit of a socialite (she was an only dog...so seeing other dogs was a bit of a novelty hehe)
