  1. Gus is still all smooch, he's 13 weeks but I really think he will stay that way. He's a dedicated cuddler!
  2. The litter tray bit kills me. A teddy bear made it with a cactus, so funny.
  3. AWESOME! Breakthrough! Go you guys, that's all your hard work paying off riiiiighht there! Haha.
  4. There's a cat one by the same guy that is hilarious too, for those cat people.
  5. That was my point to my OH but he was pretty traumatised haha. He might be a bit of a softie, but they are awful, awful things.
  6. He is a total a-hole. I almost did skip off home in a tizz, more out of fear that I'd come home to a vaccuum cleaner full of feathers (that did happen) and general not wanting to be at work...haha. I felt awful, jury is still out, I'm thinking it's less and less likely he did it, unless it fell out of a nest (not likely due to the amount of feathers) or was pre-crippled. I watched him run at a ball after work and fall over and face first into the ball, so perhaps not so stealthy. Innocent until proven guilty I guess though! On another note, how are we all teaching general focus, I feel like Gus has no attention span at all! Not just for me, but on much of anything. Do I just have to wait it out til he gets a bit older and work at it slowly, trick by trick or is there certain games we can play or jobs we can do together to enhance focus that have worked for you guys?
  7. I was thinking about this yesterday. Gus had a bird (one of those awful little miner bird things) and jury is out whether the cat killed it or he did, but given his current level of stealth I'm not so convinced it was him. He can't work out his feet so well, but regardless. Running on the assumption he killed it, what do you do? what would be my responsibilities as a pet owner here? I can't well stop him going out into his own yard when we're not home, and nor would I want to, so what do you do? I felt awful regardless, the cat is a total bugger. Won't use a litter tray, only likes to go in the yard, behaves like a gem then when we get complacent he'll snitch a bird or bring a mouse in. Never had to think about the dog catching birds though.
  8. We just signed ourselves up. If Gus can sniff out a single chop bone in a bag of lawn clippings and find it accordingly this should be a ball. I'll post this to a few friends too, see if anyone else is up to make a day of it.
  9. Ours won't walk past stormwater drain covers without a good sniff. Haha.
  10. I did like the look of those too. I could have heaps of them!
  11. He's a bugger, hope he hasn't killed it himself. Given he's gangly and awkward I can't see it, but you never know. She is gorgeous!
  12. The Y fleecy one in red, next size up from where he is, just cause they won't stay on free shipping forever and I really liked those. No tug for gus, but a few extra bully stick things. That should keep him out of trouble for about ten mins...
  13. I just got a text from the OH at home, it reads- 'Puppy did a murder, a bird murder. You might even call it a Birdur' Queue me, WHAT THE HELL? WHAT? Apparently the house is full of feathers and there's an 'unidentifiable meat lump' on the floor. Jury is still out as to whether it was caught by him or stolen from one of the cats. Poor Brooke got out the shower to a sea of feathers and clumps. Guess who's getting a wormer tomorrow?! Thank god for hard floors. I feel so guilty! Lucky it was only one of those awful miner birds...
  14. We have almost exactly the same order and mine is due today. Yay free shipping!
  15. I couldn't get a graduation suit for him fast enough, but we're enrolling in a basic manners course after our holiday next week, so there's still plenty of chances ;)
  16. From what I could tell they crossed in a pointer somewhere along the way to get low acid dogs. These dogs were then bred into the dally gene pool and some people think of them as crossbreds sort of like the bob tail boxers. I think the whole program is amazing. --Lhok I read a little bit about it, there's a tiny teeny bit of pointer outcrossed in about 15 generations back and so therefore not 'purebred' but recently (if I'm not mistaken) a LUA dalmation went to Crufts, so that sounds like a mega step forward. Here's her wiki, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiacre's_First_and_Foremost She looks lovely to me! And as the owner of a breed susceptible to cancers at things at a younger age I can't get behind programs like this enough!
  17. We graduated last night, was very very exciting. His certificate is on the fridge. We must look like total loonies.
  18. I agree. Ans the more you push out at people who breed their pets, the more you drive it underground and then there's more problems. Keeping communication and a decent rapport is akin to the more flies with honey thing in this instance, I think.
  19. Well it's a fact, bigger dogs CAN hurt smaller ones, I don't think anyone is suggesting they all do and it's derailing the thread to suggest that might be the case. Good luck with Carter! He's gorgeous! You've got it early, that is one blessing in a shitestorm :)
  20. Last puppy school tonight, then onto bigger and better things after my mini-break to the gold coast for some real sun. Haha. He will be most upset he doesn't get his Monday playdate!
  21. Ahhhh! Thank gosh we have nothing like that. No humping, no dominance. Touch wood!
  22. It's pretty gross, and everyone laughs at him. Let's just say there's no tongue kissing in our house!
  23. Good for you, TigerJack. Leave her a doggy farewell gift on her doorstop. A nice warm landmine should do it :p I bought a new harness, Gus has grown out of his baby harness and I feel like this one might last about 4 weeks as well. Haha. Not buying the expensive ones yet!
  24. I would love to hear about a fundraiser, I love the littlies, especially the down and out variety. Chester has really got me there. Such a hard life, but that photo with the jumper he looks like he's just radiating love and appreciation.
