  1. thanks! She is going in thursday to get it done, i have friday off so can keep an eye on her
  2. Thats the one, the big one at the back, poor girl, i didnt even notice it till the other day, but doesnt seem to be worrying her... vet said it does need to be out ASAP.
  3. Try freezing the bones, i give Atlas (Bull Terrier) frozen wings and frames because he is a pig
  4. Kaos needs a tooth removed, one right at the back. I am going to try to get her in this week to get it out of the way. Do i have to watch what i feed her? She is normally on dry food, and fresh meat and bones - im guessing bones will be out for a little while? but not sure about the other food.

    Great Dane

How old till a Dane matures? Met a 14 month old boy last night, stunning dog, but so playful
  6. looks like it Anyone else wanna come over to the evil side?
  7. That's a bit like saying everyone who weighs over 95kg has the potential to be an efficent violent attacker, so we should lock them up in case they do something nasty. Or that people who have tattoos are more likely to be criminals, so we'd better kill them (I have a tattoo btw). Crap, i have a tattoo and 2 bull breeds, whats that saying about me ?
  8. I am thinking i am going to have a chat to my vet about what heat they use when my kids are there. Atlas has been sedated 2 times in the last few weeks, and kaos needs a tooth removed, will remember to ask and make sure they do not use a hot water bottle, that burn above on the leg looks so painful
  9. Thanks guys, had a talk to the vet and she said she isnt too worried at the moment, but i am going to have to get a GOOD muzzle, i cant afford to get him to the vets if it happens again (Mum rung up behind my back and paid the bill for me this time :D ) and get some lube is there anything diet wise that could help? Going to do some googleing and see what i can find He is pretty sore, and it keeps dripping (yay) so i have him crated for the night.
  10. He isnt good with pain, in pain, will bite He was fine till he had a bad run in with a vet and since then has been a total sook
  11. Thank you! I just cant stand the thought of it happening while i am at work and him sufferring like that for hours ETA i didnt think of cold water! So seems it isnt uncommon, but because he wants to eat me, it makes it worse because i cant help him ETA Vets just rung, they had to sedate him, wouldnt let anyone near him, they had everyone in there and he just freaked, so thought it was nicer and faster to knock him out. He vomited while under (with poo in it - ahhh, love my dog ) because he had breakie this morning before it happened, so they have put him on Anti Bios just incase some of it got into his lungs. Not much to do with him, just said to keep an eye on him and talk to my neighbour and ask her to cheeck on him once a day when i am not around (thats going to be a fun chat)
  12. It happened again, but much worse this time! Happened in about 2 seconds, i was in bed and watching him and Kaos play, he grabbed her and humped, only for about 2 seconds and he froze up and started to cry, i ran over and sure enough he was stuck again. This time everything was out, he growled when i tried to have a look, muzzled and he wouldnt sit still and still tried to bite me (if i had someone here i would have been ok! but hard to watch the head and try to fix him up by myself) Rung the vets and they are flat out, but told me to bring him in, they have kept him there for the morning (vet was busy when i was in there) and will get him fixed up ASAP and ring me to come get him. I asked the vet nurse if there is anything i can do to stop it, 2 times in a few weeks is not good, not when he has never had the problem before. I am more worried that it may happen one day when i am at work, i can be away from home up to 12 hours a day, i dont want him to get stuck and hurt and not have help for 12 hours. She said there isnt much, it is just one of those things that happen So does anyone have any advice on how to stop him hurting himself? He humps kaos in play, normally i dont worry about it, but since the last time this happened, i have been stopping him as soon as i see him, just too slow today. Is it possible to fix, or just something im going to have to hope doesnt happen again? Thanks Cin
  13. I have 2 drums i got from the place that makes(made?) lucky dog here in town. They are round with a lid that seals them off, i can get about 20kg in them. At work we use the plastic bins you can get from the cheap shops, airtight and some have wheels so you can drag them if needed
  14. All these puppies! My almost 6 year old and my 4 year old dogs dream, they cry, howl, growl, bark and make weird noises all the time
  15. never Mine will get a wash if they are at work and we are looking for stuff to do, if they have spent time at the vets i will wash them (hate vet smell) Cant remember the last time i gave them a bath? Last year sometime maybe?
  16. oh wow ! Poor pup I have left a bucket on Atlas, once when he had his dew claws removed, and again a few weeks ago when he had a lump removed, he stays in the yard when i am not home, i made sure the water was in the middle of the yard so he could reach it without the wall getting in the way, i also removed the kennels so he couldnt get in, than not work his way out (like he did in his crate ) I also made sure the door that is usually only open enough for them the squeeze into the garage was open all the way so he could go in and out. He was fine But glad for me to be home and have it taken off!
  17. Exactly what i would do - crying means you do NOT get let out, if the dog is still and not barking, then they can get out. My Staffy was crate trained when i got her, but i had to start from scratch with my Bully. I put him in, he barked and carried on, i ignored him. BUT. If he woke up in the middle of the night crying, i would take him out for a pee, bring him in, into crate and ignore again. I now have 2 dogs who will only bark/cry if they are crated and need to go out to the loo or get a drink in summer. They can be crated all night with no problems good luck, it is hard work, but really worth it!
  18. Vote here for the Staffy Ball, mine doesnt get played with by my dogs often, but i sometimes take it to work for the bullies there to play with, they love it. Also love the Buddy Bones, only chew toy my dogs have not killed. The rolls that cables are on work well, we have a few at work still going strong!
  19. Damn, i am working that weekend, would love to go, is anyone going to watch? I dont know anyone here who will come with me, and dont know my way around Sydney (and the traffic scares me!) Might see if i can extend my holidays, dont think i will tho
  20. i have no idea! i will try to dig it out on the weekend when i am off work and have a look
  21. i have an old webcam here, somewhere. if i can find it, you can have it i had it when i moved away to talk to family, but sincethen i got my laptop with a built in one.
  22. Bloody dogs On the crate side of things... I had one like that for Kaos, she went through it within 2 weeks of using it..... Kaos is like Chopper. She is fine at home, when i go out she doesnt care, try to take Atlas away from her and she will do anything she can to get away and join him. I tried to leave her in the yard, she screamed and tried to get over and under the fence, i locked her in the crate, i came home to the same thing you did. We have worked out if she is in her bedroom, her crate is in there, but she isnt locked in it, she is much better. She still cries, but by the time i get home she would have put herself to bed. I like the webcam idea, can you set one up for someone to watch, take your phone and talk to the person so they can tell you what is going on?
  23. this is mine, not big, but i am in a unit so cant do what i really wanted to do, but enough for the cats to go and sit outside if they like, when i get the roof fixed and sort it out, i will be putting their litter out there
