  1. I have Border Collies as of course you know but I also have the Wicked Whippet. Two TOTALLY different breeds and BOTH mesh well with us. I couldn't imagine living without either breed. Why on earth would that be hard to believe? I adore my hairy dogs but I also adore the sleek lines of my Whippet. I love both breeds equally. Better add breeds I covet: Pomeranians (thanks to a very generous person I co-own two of these little gems) English Pointer Afghan Standard Poodle West Highland White Terrier Akita American Cocker How's that for variation LOL The Whippet doesn't count as another breed because they fit in with whatever other breed they live with. I bet yours thinks it is a Border (a spoilt bed warming one) and I know another that thinks he is a Japanese Spitz. I think most people could live with a Whippet no matter what other breeds they have, because Whippets seem so adaptable. Would you really want to live with the other breeds though ? Ok maybe the Poms, because they are so cute and so small they hardly count when adding up dog numbers and of course Standard Poodles are smart like Borders, but an Afghan or an Akita ? I think it is great to handle other breeds and get to know them but living with them is another thing altogether. I absolutely intend to live with a different breed in the future if time and circumstances permit me to. I absolutely disagree that you can't happily live with different breeds.

  3. They must gain a further 25 points after they turn 12 months of age. So if they are on say 99 points they must still gain a further 25 points after they turn 1 to gain their title.
  4. Used to work for Frozen Puppies Dot Com which was a well known Canine Fertility Clinic. Breeder of beautiful Border Collies Slave to one spoilt Whippet Show our dogs Also show, Beardies, Corgis and Pomeranians consistantly for others (thanks to the owners for entrusting these gorgeous dogs to me xx) Occassionally show other breeds when required Hubby does Agility/Obedience and about to get into Herding with our dogs Give private show handling lessons. Oops forgot Trainee Working Dog Judge
  5. OMG how do you know he was left out at night? Maybe he was let out after his meal to go to the toilet and got out then. Puppies are fast little suckers Maybe the guy HAD been out looking for him and doesn't know how to show his relief at finding him. God I love DOL!
  6. Another who would suggest Leonie. What she doesn't know about Vallhunds isn't worth knowing. She is amazing Meant to add, Aziah who is on here is the Pembroke Corgi expert!! She has lovely dogs and I would recommend contacting her regarding them. I adore Corgis and they'd be my pick of the two
  7. It can be as sound as a bell and "do" the job it's bred to do but if it doesn't LOOK like the breed it's meant to be it could be ANYTHING at all!!! Thought I had better add that this is of course MY opinion only.
  8. Give them mine and you will die a slow and very very painful death
  9. Are you saying they are telling you what dogs to use for the litter they want pick puppy from? If that is the case, I would politely tell them that it is up to you and only you what dogs/bitches you plan to use and go from there. If they get too pushy, I would delete and block them. But I'm nasty like that
  10. The first lot of photos are up on Ffire's website. As predicted, they are WELL worth the wait. The girl is a genius with a camera. Love your work Miss Ffi www.ffirephotography.com ENJOY!!
  11. Every now and again a dog comes along that TRULY takes my breath away. Your boy is one of those dogs. The hairs on the back of my neck stood on end when I watched him with Clare yesterday. He is absolutely stunning.. What a lucky person you are to share you home with this gorgeous Malamute :mad
  12. Part of the contract may have been to withhold displaying photos until after the Royal. The woman is working her ass off. Who gives a rats what other photographers do, THIS particular photographer is displaying them after the Royal. Get off her case
  13. These are no thicker than paracord leads... I will try and take a pic over the weekend of the lead in my hand and on the dog.. that would be great. Thank you
  14. Could someone tell me how thick they are? I like quite thin leads but these are very very pretty
  15. Give the poor woman a break for God sake. She's putting in massive hours at the show to get the perfect shot of the winner's dogs. Ffi is a legend!!
  16. But they had some really pretty ones you know! Red's tweeds etc. Your Millers sounds like it has nicer stock then ours I went past it today and I was not impressed with the boring looking drab jackets. Glad you like it, im on the hunt for 2 more people to give them to. I would say me me me however, I do the same shows mostly as Aziah and you're already well advertised there
  17. Yes they are, they can do well at anything we like to try them at! Me, I like to show my dogs. My husband likes to do agility with them. How lucky are we to own such talented dogs!
  18. Same here, but I unfortunately have a tendacy towards the darker reds (like my Tollers) and sables *runs and hides* Nothing wrong with having a preference for a dark red or a sable if you are prepared to wait as long as it takes to get a good one from the right breeder and don't pay an inflated price for it. Several of us with Borders would one day love to have and outstanding show tri but they are very hard to come by. I have bred tri but not one quite good enough to keep in my yard yet. It is my dream to own a beautiful tri-colour I adore them
  19. Yes I'd agree with this as well. Temperament is a HUGE priority for us as well. Most of our litters go to pet homes and like you I would rather fill a pet order than a show order any day. Health and temperament are the most important thing to me.
  20. However, just because it is capable of doing well in the ring doesnt make it suitable for breeding either. Maybe Mystiqview only puts into the ring what she would happy to use in a breeding program? I know that is the case with me Yep thats great but you guys have a fairly decent sized gene pool and not that many real big deals to have to work with. You also clearly have as a big thing on you list of priorities sucess in the show ring - not every one has the same goals in their breeding program. All things are not equal in all breeds. I never said it was. However, you replied to Mystiqview's post so I was assuming you meant the breed that Mystiqview is attached to? For future reference you may also like to note, that whilst I DO show my dogs, I believe there is a lot more to them than being "Show Dogs". My husband actually does agility with them as well so I would prefer mine to be all rounders rather than just "show dogs". Not sure that's what you meant but thought I'd clear that up

  22. Can you purchase some artificial turf and put down for them? It may work.
  23. After only just going through the heartache of losing a beloved dog, I can assure you that a kind word to let them know you're thinking of them does go a long way. It's been a dreadful couple of weeks for us after losing our lovely "Pink" to a snake, if it hadn't been for the lovely words from everyone, we never would have got through. Hugs to your cyberfriend xxxx
  24. Times like now I wish there was a "LIKE" button on here. Great post Mystiqview
