  1. http://www.foxcreekwines.com/our-wines/shadows-run Not a bad drop either
  2. i wasn't thinking of the gardener i was thinking SS sounds alot like someone i used to debate the same subjects with a very long time ago on here infact. sounds very similar to this other person that use to frequent the boards. perhaps they have come back under a new name? we still don't know who this person is, they aint telling us. You have to love the front of someone who doesn't breed ANKC dogs telling the ANKC people how it should be done I find this amusing as well. They seem to consistently put the boot into the ANKC.
  3. OMG Jules I'm so sorry Sadly I know this feeling oh so well. I've got an ear to lend if you need to talk. Gentle hugs to you xxxxx
  4. The Border Collie originated in the "border" countries between Scotland and England. Australia IS commonly known as the country of "development" of the modern day Border Collie. However, they DID NOT originate here. Thought I'd also add, the very best one ever bred is laying on my bed right now The other best one ever bred was his dearly departed mother I am not biased in any way
  5. How about a Staffordshire Bull Terrier? Fantastic family pets. Purchased from a reputable breeder of course.
  6. I'll let her know. Ukko inherited the "bum dance" off his mum Hipsu. They are always a crowd favourite, and he has put a smile on more than one sick childs' face when he visits the Childrens Hospital. He's a great dog. But then again, so is his mum. We are very proud of them
  7. That was UKKO!!!! He is a Nahrof boy that I had out for the day. He is a very popular Delta dog and is amazing with the kids at Westmead Children's Hospital. His owner Deb is amazing and we can't thank her enough for lending him to us for the day!
  8. Another brilliantly successful day for Dogs NSW!!! The breed stalls were very well patronised. Lots and Lots of general public having a great time. Congratulations to our hard working Border Collie Club members for working hard on our stall and helping us to win Most Unusual Stall. I think that may have been the guy in the Border Collie costume that was a huge hit with the kids. Great day, I'd love to see two a year!
  9. I think this is only the second year it's been run? I was there last year and there was an enormous turnout. We were run off our feet all day at the Border Collie stand. I hope the weather is kind tomorrow and the public come in droves as they did last year. It was fantastic!
  10. If it's anywhere near as good as last year's was, it will be amazing!!! Come and visit the Border Collie stand. We will be there promoting our wonderful breed
  11. I understand the concept - the part that doesn't sit well with me is that we as humans are doing the natural selection thing, we decide what is the best conformation not nature - who's to say we haven't ballsed up and the standard really isn't the best the dog could be. I hear all the time of standard changes and of breeds no longer representing what they should. anything a human has a hand in producing is just as likely to backfire if you ask me. My honest opinion is that some of the labs i've seen on the net that are meant to be show winners seem rather heavy boned/large set - I'm not sure how this would help a retrieving dog who needs to be fairly active. Again I'm a noob at it so could be completely wrong. Btw I have no interest in becoming a breeder I just find it a little sad we as humans decide which dogs are deemed 'worthy' of reproducing (exceptions for deformities and illnesses and the like - common sense). I agree with you. Dogs are being put on mains register & bred from, just because they have good confirmation etc in the show ring, but maybe those dogs have problems with giving birth naturally for example....a very important fact for natural survival. Also with my breed, Border Collies, certain colours are not accepted on the mains register anymore, or pricked ears, means you have no chance in the show ring, so what do these "faults" have to do with whether a dog is structurally sound & should or should not not be allowed on mains register???? Look what our years of selective breeding has done to the poor old King Charles Spaniel, or breeds with flat faces or GSD's that can't walk a straight line without wobbling on their back legs. I am not a breeder, just an observer from the sidelines. I just have to clarify that I personally have had great success in the show ring with a few bitches that people would classify as having pricked ears. The latest being my darling Pink who is now in heaven. Pricked eared dogs are allowed to be listed on the main register and bred from. I know because I've done it. They aren't born with pricked ears and I've never seen an 8 week old puppy Border Collie with pricked ears so at the time of register they don't have them. It also wouldn't stop any breeder I know from using the dog in a breeding program.
  12. After being burnt very badly on two separate occasions by people who I thought I could trust enough to sell a puppy on main register outright to, I will never do it again. I don't give a toss what people think of my decision to do this and they are welcome to look elsewhere for a puppy if my terms don't agree with them.
  13. No it doesn't. It comes from people owning a breed that is far too intelligent for them to manage. A breed that needs more stimulation than most and simply not getting it. A breed that if it doesn't receive that stimulation and training tends to get a little neurotic. It's got nothing whatsoever to do with herding desire and instinct. Sorry you've had a bad time with Border Collies
  14. If showing is really not what you want to do, get your boy ready and start doing obedience trials. If you get out there with your boy and are seen to be doing something with him, breeders will tend to take your enquiries a little more seriously. showing is not for everyone, and I agree it can be downright bitchy, but I'm here to tell you the obedience world is no walk in the park either. Go along and visit some dog shows and chat to people there as well. I promise you, we do not all bite. Some of us are even pretty nice people
  15. My dogs thrive on Advance. I wouldn't feed them anything else You have to go with whatever food your dog thrives on.
  16. I'm so sorry about your boy :-( I think a Cocker Spaniel ticks a lot of boxes for you as well. They are such gorgeous dogs.
  17. Absolutely Blair from Quakers Hill. I would have said my old boss John Newell at Frozen Puppies but it has closed down.
  18. I would never sell two puppies from the same littler to anyone no matter what. They do bond with each other more than with their owners. The main thing for me though is it's all great while they are young, but you will also have two old dogs who you could possibly lose close together. Too heartbreaking for me to cope with. I wouldn't put a puppy buyer through that. Just my opinion though.
  19. Isn't John Newell now at Belmont vet clinic...they do alot of AI with Greyhounds!! They are apparently very good... No. John used to own Belmont clinic and sold it when he opened Frozen Puppies
  20. Peaches get in touch with Blair at Quakers Hill. He has a very good reputation. I would normally point you in the direction of my old boss John Newell but Frozen Puppies is no more. Good luck
  21. Personally I don't think a Border Collie is suited to living in a unit. My opinion only though. I just know even the laziest of mine would go stir crazy locked in a small space.
