  1. Fantastic photos, all of them and all beautiful dogs ! Thank you for sharing them :)
  2. What a beautiful story! Reminds me of a visit to Melbourne couple of years ago.I was in the city shopping ,a homeless man ,out-to- lunch in a alleyway.I went up in case he was needed help,as he looked unconscious ,anyway he was wrapped in a blanket ,with his dog ,a GSD draped accross him, protecting him.I put a couple of dollars in his "donation tin" got a quiet thank you from the blanket and a big lick from his guardian.Must admit I had tears to watch the loyalty of the dog ,and I often think about it. :)
  3. Wishing all Dolers a Very merry Xmas and Many Blessings for 2015 .Thank you to all who supported me earlier in the year with Jesses passing ,it really helped .Hugs to all :)
  4. I agree with all of the above.Neither you or Ernie did anything wrong .Sad you had to come across some low-life idiots ,.Don't let it deter you from your enjoyment of the beach. :)
  5. I agree re the cats.Actually,I feel a bit mean now as he has so many great qualities....and he does love the dogs .Lulu the JS is definitely his girl ,they are inseparable ,so I'm feeling I was a bit hard on him. :)
  6. Bringing a new dog/ cat into the home impacts on the whole family ,and obviously has the potential to cause a lot of disharmony! Number of dogs ,training methods etc,etc can cause stress,to say the least if one partner has different ideas. When I met G 10 yrs ago in my 50s I made it clear...love me ,love my two dogs! In his case it was cars ,4 of them. Anyway ,were still here together ,married 5 yrs. I'd be lying if I said the dogs haven't caused stress over the years ,particularly with Jesses problems ,a s we disagreed on ways to deal with him.( he thinks I should be "over him" now I have another one. He's a wonderful man but....sometimes just doesn't get that the love for your dogs is so strong! Any way ,it got me thinking ,do others have disagreements / stress with partner over dogs . :)
  7. So pleased your little girl is doing so well, she is just gorgeous!! :)
  8. Seren ,You put it so beautifully ,hugs to you too! I find it is still heartbreaking when I think of Jesse .Even though I knew it had to be done ... and an autopsy confirmed it ,I still wonder if I did everything I could....Yes ,we all love them so very much..and I'm sure we are privileged to have the ability to love so deeply.I have had parents, friends, etc, etc pass and I'm devastated but when I lose one of my darling dogs...I always feel guilty saying it ,but it seems to cut deeper.I too am so grateful for the support on DF.Hugs to all those grieving...
  9. As a Catholic ,I have always believed dogs and other animals are part of a Divine Plan.Ive never been taught otherwise. :)
  10. I believe all things happen for a reason ,even if it's not what we want! :) I also believe in "signs" ,and for me that would be definitely a sign! What a beautiful dog. :)
  11. Beautiful posts .I did not realise Lace had passed ( about the time Jesse left me) and I'm so very sorry.I would have posted condolences. So pleased you have your new baby,he sounds adorable. I too have another pup ,Ollie ,German Spitz ,he is beautiful ,but I still miss Jesse so much . ...
  12. oMG ,I can imagine how you feel.I was annoyed when a new groomer clipped around Lulus face.I do think it will grow back but will take some time..similar thing happened to my Keeshond years ago.It did grow back but it took about a year ,she was an older dog at the time ,so coat was probably slower growing.I know how you'll be feeling but I bet he still looks really cute!! :)
  13. Very Belated but Sincere Sympathy in the loss of your beautiful boy! His photos are so gorgeous and his personality shows through ....Thoughts coming your way ,Alex.
  14. What a great idea! I used to worry what would happen to the dogs when I lived alone . I think I will get a card anyway ,as we are usually out in the car together .CnR I hope you are feeling much better, thoughts coming your way :)
  15. Happy Birthday ,Gorgeous Girl ,what a fantastic owner you have! :)
  16. So very sorry ,huski. Hugs to you ,what a beautiful little soul Cherry was...May she now run free ,RIP.
  17. I used to use Calmex tabs on my male JS on long car trips ,but did not work as well on Lulu .They seem to work better the day after you give it to them .in think it's a bit hit and miss ,though .I've never used Valium for them ,but I imagine it would be the2mg not 5? We've had an unusual amount of storms lately ,Ollies very frightened of them so might try small dose Valium next time. :)
  18. Mine will definitely be a Keeshond! I toss up between Keeshond and RC ,my two heart dogs ,but I think I'd see Jesse in every RC ,so Keeshond will be great .Perfect with JS ,GS and Keesie.I'll never stop grooming!!
  19. Beautiful photos ,beautiful dogs! Thanks for sharing :)
  20. I have just read this and am so very ,very sad for you ,VM.What a beautiful poem.I send you hugs and my thoughts are with you ! RIP dearest Tibor,Run Free....
  21. You are not doing yourself any favours with your attitude towards breeders I am not one ,but find nothing strange or arrogant about any questions you have listed .I would not sell to a person who was so obsessed by symmetry ,shape etc, etc.almost daily changes of desired breed ,Im sorry but I doubt your sincerity....apologize in advance if I'm wrong.
  22. I had to wait 3 years for my Keeshond and over a year for my JS. ,both being uncommon breeds.Ultimately ,I think when buying we must respect the breeders right to sell their pup to whoever they think is the best for puppy.I certainly would if I was a breeder.I think it would be so sad if breeders decided not to sell overseas or Interstate .,I notice in DOL several breeders are already saying that.It is obviously in the buyers interest to be as cooperative as possible ,and in most cases an excellent relationship develops as pup grows.
  23. I think it's great the breeder does this .It shows they care a great deal about where their babies end up! I always have to buy without viewing ,owing to the remote area I live ,so I rely on the breeders integrity I usually set up a communication before the puppies are even born.I keep in phone and e mail contact.I also am proactive with photos of my property ,myself and my current dogs.As buyers ,we must remember these breeders have usually put in years of breeding ,so we ,the buyer ,get a great match with. our puppy.I also send photos monthly of the puppies progress. I welcome any questions the breeder may have.I don't think it's at all odd to ask for a photo of yourself ,it's all helps make up a overall impression of the buyer. At the end of the day ,it is their puppy and they can sell it whoever they wish ,and if you are offended by the questions, move on and wait for another puppy. :)
