Or one of those folding walking sticks you can buy from the chemist. They're very light and fold up small when not needed :)

How big is the pup? You can buy pet carriers/trolley/back pack like these ... http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dog-Cat-Trolley-Carrier-Stroller-Travel-Backpack-Cage-PETTROLLEY-KB206-/271607525971?pt=AU_Pet_Supplies&hash=item3f3d11f253&_uhb=1 I used to use one for a toy poodle :)

Are dogs allowed on trains in Victoria I think only guide dogs are allowed on public transport in NSW

That does sound like a lot of Metamucil for a small dog Maybe if the owner doesn't get back to you, look at the directions on the pack and dose accordingly? I have used it on a toy poodle who weighs 3 kilos and only gave her about a quarter of a teaspoon dry mixed in with some 'wet' food.

They look like corgis

I don't know gila, I'll bow to others knowledge. I do know our labrador used to catch live leverets (baby hares) and by the time she had 'retrieved' them they somehow had disappeared down her throat It certainly didn't cause her any problems :)

You could give the WHOLE rabbit with goodies intact

Pets Behaving Perfectly....(humans Not So Much....)
Ranga replied to Little Gifts's topic in General Dog Discussion
This morning our two toy poodles who always get into bed with us when the sun peeks through, wouldn't settle properly and were quite restless. They weren't asking to 'go outside' but were not their usual selves. My OH getting sick of their antics got out of bed and then the phone rang. It was very early and not a time when anyone would ring us. It was my elderly mother who was very ill and needed an ambulance. As we live a distance from her I immediately called 000 and she was taken to hospital. It seems she has suffered a stroke - not bad, however, she is still in hospital. Now, if the dogs hadn't been restless my OH wouldn't have gotten out of bed so early and we would have missed the call. My mother was too ill to remember the emergency number, but remembered my number Did the dogs know something? I'm not sure, but it's lucky they were so annoying :) -
This is a very difficult situation. Very sorry you are going through this Tippy Is it only me, or can anyone else see there is another aspect to this? If the OP's dog were a smaller breed of dog, then the situation would be, in my opinion, a lot more manageable. However, we are talking about a Ridgeback/Mastiff. If something goes haywire with a dog like this, there is little room for error It's not a toy poodle having a tantrum - it's a VERY large dog. If the OP is finding the situation stressful and cannot afford the expense and time of retraining a dog who may never be completely trustworthy, then maybe the solution should be more final ...

Just thought I'd bump this up again :) I've worked my way through the whole 49 pages! It's all very interesting reading, but I'm still a fence sitter ... I feed raw and a little kibble. I occasionally have to leave my dogs in kennels and it's much easier if I can give them their home made food and kibble. Kennels won't allow bones

Lots of ticks about atm Use preventive treatments and and check dogs daily if you're in a tick area. I don't remember them being as bad as they are at present. And ABC maybe a bit late, however, the Preventic collar doesn't smell as bad as the Killtix :)

Geez westiemum, a very worrying time Hope you get to the bottom of the problem soon ...

Introducing New Puppy To Your Older Dog.
Ranga replied to suziwong66's topic in General Dog Discussion
I can't say I've ever had a problem introducing a new puppy to any of the dogs I've had over the years. Older dogs, yes, be cautious. But any well socialised adult dog will normally accept a puppy without issue :) -
We always planned our holidays around whether we could take our dogs with us, then my OH won a trip and we had to find another option. We met the most wonderful couple who were house sitting for our neighbour and knew the dogs would have the best of care with them. Not only did they dote on our dogs, the house was immaculate when we returned, and dinner was on the table. I will certainly have them back again :) They also kept us up to date on how the dogs were. If you can find the right people it's worth it.

Could you get a house sitter for the dogs? :)

Firstly, so sorry to hear about your little dog Bitches together often have issues. The problem you experienced would have been made worse by the fact that both JRs and cattle dogs are both quite aggressive when roused - neither will back off. For your own piece of mind it may be wise to have the stumpy assessed, but she may just have a typical cattle dog type personality that doesn't take crap from anydog. Welcome to the forum by the way :)

Sheena Permoxin is permethrin and it can be used on dogs and horses :)
-
He chews them just because he can :) Also, I've found with one of my dogs, if I've been gardening he likes to help ... So anything I've been handling ie branches, sticks, foliage etc have my scent on them and make them interesting for him to chew :)
-
If it's the same as the horse rugs they're impregnated with permethrin, and they work on horses. I think they also make clothing with the insect repellant for people who work in the outdoors :)
