  1. Why is that? I can't speak to petrescue but I know that I am very careful to make sure that all of my listings about my foster dogs are very honest and that the owners know exactly what faults the dogs have. We also give a lifetime guarantee on all of our foster dogs and will take the dog back and personally (as foster carers) refund the the adoption fee (as our rescue group only refund if the two week trial period fails). Or is there something else behind the scenes about the arrangements between the rescues and petrescue? As carers, we don't have visibility of the back end, we are just given details of how to create listings. Nothing interesting behind the scenes It's in the Terms Of Use that PR aren't responsible for anything. But will take credit I'm not sure what Sheridan means but there's always been iffy advertising on PR because it's a marketing platform with plenty of 'real estate speak' - particularly of dogs who should never be placed into a home.
  2. I don't care if they get paid. Couldn't give a rats. I care that some of their income comes from people believing that donating to Pet Rescue the business is the same as donating to one of the tiny rescues who use their service. Tiny rescues who don't get paid and never will. Or don't want to grow into an unwieldy business. PR are eligible for govt grants, private grants and corporate sponsorship which the bulk of us are ineligible for and that is where they should be focussing on generating their income, not from the (lets face it) the small pool of private donations small rescues do compete over. I care that there are legal rumblings, pro-bono or not it still costs time and money and I don't believe many of the "950+" members would regard that as appropriate use of resources. Nor that we are now de-facto participants or an excuse to protect the PR Brand. In return for being able to use their site for free, we have no say and cannot even question the small things like a donation button on every single one of our listed pets. Basically it's; suck it up Princess and if you don't like it, there's the door. And the rescues who have been in the position to walk have done exactly that.
  3. No readymade alternative really. We only put the most basic on a profile stuff with a link to our website for full profiles. Most inquiries now come via the website rather than PetRescue. Other groups have left completely but it's harder work and I don't know if a huge group could do it without a huge upheaval. Like I said, we work for them now. Not the other way around.
  4. That would be one of the sticky areas of IP. Say I decided to leave my own rescue and take everything I've done with me which would be website, domains, emails, graphics/images, records; the lot. As a legal entity my org has a right to claim IP and make moves to stop me damaging their interests. I could argue as founder that stuff is all mine, created and paid for by me. They could go at me for lost funds, something that is clearly measurable. On and on and on. Then the lawyers would have to fight it out. I would probably lose.
  5. They are a charity. But like a lot of charities, once you get large enough you can allow for wages and office space, expenses etc. Completely legal. ACNC has the records of all registered charities. All set out like this My link I guess the sum of legal expenses in this rush to claim exclusive rights, will be included on the EOFY report. A ridiculous waste of time and energy and donated funds which I doubt will come out of the employee pockets. It's always possible a pro-bono arrangement has been made. But it's still laughable, and a red flag in the direction PR will be taking from hereon out.
  6. Yep! It was all there long ago. Long before she quit. And you wouldn't believe the arrogance of the current lot when they are challenged. I'm surprised our account wasn't suspended when I poked them with a stick over a preachy misleading newsletter. Same as when Shel was their mouthpiece. Their response was approx; You're reading things into it that aren't there and don't understand. We work for all rescues. etc etc Oh and I just heard; all the food donations went out. I guess our email got lost.
  7. Not sure if anyone remembers my thread asking about the donation grab? Well here's the outcome. Pet Rescue no longer works for us. We work for them. Response from the last time I asked.
  8. Ingredients compare with VitaPet brand and Excelpet and generic Canine Allwormer. So don't worry at all, it's like a lot of things. Same product, different box. I'm always curious about how much profit on things actually go to the charity but in this case it's confidential information.
  9. There's already restrictions on NSW 16D i.e. the group that holds it uses it for their own rescuing. One tiny group claims to have rescued 500 animals....except they only ever had around 50. The rescue is Clause sharing. I've been waiting and waiting for any kind of change. It won't come from within the rescue/welfare/advocate system that's for sure. Using the word Rescue garners the trust & respect of the public. Calling for change or scrutiny has to come from the public otherwise it's labeled 'rescue politics'. But the public trust Rescue. It's a catch 22
  10. You get no argument from me and clearly rescue isn't as easy as many think it is - seems dogs are suffering longer at the hands of several of them and its an area that needs to be addressed however, Id rather listen to what the council and RSPCA is saying which is "hang on be patient" we are onto it than take even a single scrap of notice of reports from O.L. Yes it's hugely complicated in between RSPCA, council, owners, pounds, pound-co ords... transporters could be of help too. I'm sure donors will be after blood when they see where their hard earned money went and that a brand new group appeared with none of these dogs included. And the rescue groups who released some of these dogs and sent them there need to step up as well and take dogs back!! To their credit OL are clearly explaining the law and due process that must be followed amongst the info released but they can't control what their supporters say. No mention of whether they trespassed to get the footage or if neighbours cooperated. That would be a police matter.
  11. Sars that is a 'naming names' you'll have to edit.
  12. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/leader/south-east/oscars-law-demands-action-on-dogs-chained-at-blind-bight-property/news-story/160abf0bf118b3f00d411ad371d81e11 ETA: mmmm hope its ok the post this link http://cranbournenews.starcommunity.com.au/news/2016-04-22/shots-fired-in-blind-bight/ No identifying names. Should be ok. :)
  13. Apologies for the silly question. Breeders; if a dog is sold for breeding like this one is, it's on the mains register yes? So is it regarded as worse (or grounds for a warning from their registering body) for a wonky faulty dog to be on a main register or is it just left to the breeder's discretion and that's all?
  14. That's them. Sorry. They've been found on a property pretty much left to themselves apart from being fed, after their rescue left town. I was more interested in getting the dogs identified if anyone recognises them. Or share if you like, wherever would behelpful. You never know. There are also dogs that were sent from pounds. Thankfully they will be chipped, but once a dog is sent over the border it goes on a different registry which is how pound dogs can leave the state and kind of vanish. Chipped pound dogs are being followed up but it takes time.. If a dog has been surrendered then having no chip won't help unless the owner sees them. A couple have been identified though which is great. :) No idea if any were stolen, that would need to be confirmed by the original owners. I can't say a lot on DOL because Troy needs to not be involved and will have to take the thread down.
  15. Thought it best to put here as the rescue section is pretty much dead. But I was asked to post. So I'm talking Oscar's Law here sorry, but this needs to get more coverage. More details of the full story have been posted naming names, which you can read if you feel inclined but I'm only interested in sharing the album in case anyone can identify or has seen one of these dogs on FB groups and pages relating to pound release and transport or on FTGH / Lost/ Stolen dogs. Please don't name anyone or their rescue because the thread will have to be removed. Request mods remove if you feel this is inappropriate. No hard feelings. :) Dogs in album; (partially derailed by arguments about chaining) https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1298216046873232.1073741880.135173789844136&type=3
  16. Same. Left at 17 and owned 'my' first dog other than family dogs. Worked full time. 6 - 7 days a week. Not sure what your point is about being shot down in flames. It's as much about changing and evolving your life as it is about hours out of home. The people who contact us because they don't have time for the dog anymore. Are moving. Had kids. Neighbour complaints. Boredom/destructive. Got a new dog. Landlord orders. WTF can I do?? Pet started with good intentions but not the reality of 15yrs. BTW Everywhere I've lived has had backyard yard dogs who bark all day. All friday and saturday night. And some, all sunday. Lights out, nobody home. And I still believe small companion breeds should not be made to live outdoors. Not apologising for that.
  17. My dogs are left outside all day if i am not home. they just sleep, and enjoy the sun, Bark at the postman and resume sleeping. But report me to the rspca for their terrible lives ;) They are a companion breed, but they are also dogs. Yeh but Denali - you're in Q where your days (generally) aren't as cool as the OPs. And you have three for company and you're an experienced owner. Thank you! I'm assuming you're taking the piss denali. We've had the same thread a year ago and the OP was advised on breeds. And was given some appropriate advice for the information provided. Including from you. Although things have changed again we're still talking about a very young person just out of high school. And the new dog was going to be indoors and a 'constant companion', but that has changed to outside in VIC alone in the cold and heat ..(all night?). OP already had a pug but gave it away due to almost moving overseas. But didn't move. So; Realistically how many hours per day will the dog be in range of their owner. When will the dog be allowed inside. Will the dog be sleeping outside at night. Will the parents do backup when owner is away. How into the idea are the parents/homeowners/people who pay for everything/final say. What happens over the next 15yrs to guarantee this companion breed gets everything it needs when things change so much for a young person and already have. Shoot me. I would never ever place a dog into that story. But plenty will. This thread has much more going on than just focussing on the hours away from home.
