  7. Thankyou & Happy New Year to the kind siggy fairy who shrunk Merry for me..........much appreciated
  8. Heeeeeelllllpppp.......I can't change my sig from gi-normous ........I know I have seen the dimensions somewhere & now I can't find them!!!
  9. Yep it is very common for constipated or impacted dogs to have diarr. As peresphone said they squirt liquid around the mass. Most people start to worry when the dog starts vomitting poop smelly stuff. Yep I too am a VN had had to unblock many dogs that were "constipated"
  10. I looove my liberty I have had it for 15yrs & man it has copped it , it has travelled interstate & moved house 7 times as well as travelling backwards & forwards to work @ the vet hospital!! It has never given me any probs I can't imagine what it will cost to replace it!!
  11. It takes up to 5-6weeks for anti-anxiety meds to reach theraputic(sp?)blood levels. Is not supposed to zap them out....but relax & decrease anxiety. It sounds like you are heading in the right direction if the howling has slowed.......Keep up the good work! It can be a long process
  12. Check the suture line is not inflammed. But she is probably on AB's?
  13. Buspar has been around for ages.........it is also one of the more$$$$$ Most of the anti-anxiety meds that are used in animals are those that are used in humans. Just off label use in animals! When animals are prescibed anti-anxieties they need to be taken for 6wks MINIMUM to get to theraputic blood levels. Sometimes you notice a change before hand, but most people stop giving them to their dogs before a real change can be noticed. "Dopey" can also equal sedated, which is what some of these animals need. It can also mean they are relaxed!!!
  14. I had a weimaraner with IMPA, her immune mediated disorders started young ( when the litter was vax with live vax @ 8wks) most of the litter had reactions. 2 died, 3 recovered. The little pup we adopted ( typical VN) seem to bleed & bruise from everywhere - gut, eyes, chest & the tips of her ears become so swollen from shaking her head, that become necortic & dropped off. Molly's life (only 5yrs ) was full of ups & downs, lots of AB,s & cortisone. Specialists visit when she was a pup, who said she should not have survived. I knew Molly's health better than my own! & was able to pick a blow to her system before she really fell in a heap. She was an extremely stoic little dog ( never grew past 25kg & was always size of 6mth weim) we visited homeopathic vet in Balmain & she had drops made up for her ......sorry I forgot what they were. I gave her spurulina & slippery elm for her gut. She was regulary on lose dose cortisone & i learnt to keep stress & change to a minimum. No long runs or heaps of excercise has that woould mean swollen joints in 2 days time :D Molly spent heaps of time being well & she was gorgoeus. We just learnt to manage her. Good luck
  15. Awww poor poodlemum don't you hate that.....it gets everywhere on the fur Is it possible that they may have picked up something else & scoffed it? A bit of rubbish could cause a gut ache!! You probably have sorted it by now. But I would give their gut a rest & withhold food for 24hrs. See you in poodle thread
  16. The long dew claw is at a very wrong angle!! If there was a small bleed, chances are that the nail is partially broken & needs to come off, or may become infected. I would take him to the vet if he were mine. Good luck
  17. Good news Hopenfox. Hope it was just a one off thing They can be a pain in bum.......literally
  18. I was using Polaramine when looking after an itchy weim. Now I am using Periactin on my itchy Std Poodle.
  19. Could just be very concentrated or she has a UTI. Good luck
  20. If they are infected, yes they build up after a couple of days without draining/squeeszing or any AB's. Good Luck!.....It looks uncomfortable, but they need empting. If both you & the dog are getting anxious, ask the vet if your dog could have some sedation first If not, or you are unhappy, take you business elsewhere!
  21. Make sure you haven't got a cat hanging around, for example under the house. Cats are a like a magnet for fleas.....I know I have a house cat
  22. Big, floppy weibanana ears.........he is sooooo cute. I wouldn't take him to the vets just for that. Just make sure the flies stay away!!
