Personally I wouldn't touch it but some dogs do fine on the cheap, cereal based kibbles, especially if fed in conjunction with lots of RMB's. I wouldn't feed it to Pearl though. Actually, my two Maremmas are fed a cheap working dog food and do well in it - but the three house pets wouldn't thrive on it at all.

Yeh but if you re read her initial post, she says the dog is aggressive as it barks and growls at things near his yard. Plenty of dogs do this. My Pug is a champion of barking and growling at things outside but he doesn't have a mean bone in his body. Knowing the OP's history with breed choices/preferences I would say they don't have much experience with more protective/active breeds. The dog in question is a terrier which are reknowed for having spunk and a bit feisty.

Email Deborah from the Natural Pet Food store and see what she can do to help. She was fabulous to deal with last week when I got mine.

 I didn't either!! Until I got a Pug and he hit 7 months of age. He was angelic before that.

I really don't think he sounds that's bad She frightened the dog and it bit her, sure not great but some dogs just do that and now your friend needs to be more careful. Lots of dogs "bark, snarl and growl' at potential threats near their territory. Your friend sounds as though she is trying to be responsible and locks the dog away when there are visiting children. I have a small dog here who will bite if frightened, most of my dogs bark and growl at things 'out there'. They are all perfectly good dogs.

Who Are The Better Rescue Groups ?
Clyde replied to redangel's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
I personally recommend Denise from PAWS and DCH Animal Adoption, but I am sure there are plenty of others! -
Thanks again Andrea, so that included BYB's then? Even one off litters?
-
What about vaccinating? Is that a legal requirement? eta: The page Admin has now set her rules that only chipped pets can be advertised, which is good
-
Thanks Andrea, have relayed that on
-
My local Facebook pets page constantly has litters of pups/kittens for free. I am just about to leave the page as I'm not interested in reading about all the BYB'ing going on. Anyway, there is currently a debate about microchiping. Apparently vets wont chip pets under 12weeks of age, and it is okay to give puppies/kittens away with no chips provided they are younger than 12weeks. Now I think this is bull. I have just had a litter of kittens chipped at 8 weeks of age. Does anyone know the facts about it being okay to give a pup away unchipped because it is younger than 12 weeks?

Great news FM - I'm so excited about this food as the service from the Natural Pet Food Store is just exemplary. Service makes such a huge difference for me! I'm a bit worried the Bison will be too high in fat for my Pug, but will get the Salmon one next time anyway - the Bisons fat content will be good for my Stafford.
-
Best method is to remove without aggravating the tick further. I've read a paper on how dogs which have had the tick killed/removed by using pesticides/products have a longer recovery time than those dogs who have just had the tick pulled out.

Gave the bison to my guys tonight - not even a suspicious sniff from Miss Fussy - straight down the hatch :D

I don't know a lot about them but I understand they are a lot of dog in terms of their temp. I thought they were a flock guardian so they should be good with other animals if raised with them. I would look in to how much they bark as other LGD's bark a lot generally. Hope someone corrects me if I'm wrong!

My TOTW arrived only two days after ordering it - not bad seeing I am rural. Keen to start the dogs on it tonight.

Bendigo Man Threatens To Kill Pet Cats If They Wander Into His Yard
Clyde replied to Peace_Of_Mind's topic in In The News
I feel his pain. If I had a gun I would also 'humanely destroy' any cats which wandered in to my yard. I got to a point where I was sick to death of cats coming over and bullying my cats through the glass door. It caused my cats to urinate in the house and fight amongst each other. The wandering cats also pee'd on very expensive outdoor furniture, there was a stage where they were making my life hell. I don't have a problem with the furniture anymore as I now have dogs who sleep outside but the wandering cats still stalk my little chickens in another part of the garden and it shits me that my small animals cannot free range because of neighborhood cats! I am now at the point where I skitch my dogs on to the cat if I see it in my yard. I never thought I would do that to another animal but enough is enough. -
Vets All Natural - Perfect Puppy Nutrition
Clyde replied to Dr Bruce Syme's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Sheena you are behaving like a pouting 6 year old, very poor form. I recently got samples of VAN from Pet Barn. I think they came with some cat meat which I bought. All the pets liked it, it is a food I considered, but for now I am sticking with what is working well for them. I would have loved to have gone along to listen to Bruce's talk but alas too far from me. As a forum though, I think we are lucky to have someone in the know being transparent about their food and demonstrating strong customer service! After a disaster period with one food, I switched back to Holistic Select with great results but have now gone over to Taste Of the Wild where the service has been fabulous too. I've never been one for cheap food, but after some issues with one of my Maremmas I switched on advise from a Maremma expert to Boomer Working Dog food and I have a whole new dog plus my boy is doing brilliantly on it too! Have also been feeding RMB's. The house dogs still get a more premium diet. It's certainly proved to me that one food does not suit all dogs and it was just a matter of juggling to find which has worked for who. I have recommended VAN to a few clients though who have problem little house dogs. -
THe large bag is currently out of stock but from memory the store owner Deborah, said she was expecting more in at the end of this week. It's been a good seller so I suggest getting in early! After me, of course

I just bought some TOTW from the Natural Pet Food store. I needed to call about something and left a message, my call was returned within 5 minutes. Very helpful woman - pleased to find somewhere that actually has customer service!! They have 10% off at the moment. Have got a sample for my cats to try too.

Sorry for your loss Rozzie, too sad

Agree with all this! Our little Pug is a farm dog and has to be involved in everything I do around the property. He is the first dog to bark and growl when visitors come. He is fantastic with kids, loves going all day long and then sleeps indoors at night dead to the world. They have such a fun loving nature and get along with other animals, generally.

Does Anyone Here Do Mobile Dog Grooming?
Clyde replied to Esky the husky's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I started in a salon then went mobile. Hated it so went back to salon work (my own business). -
This is what I do with my Maremmas each week. It blows all the dirt out of them too. Don't use a Coat King. They cut the coat too much and it grows back spikey. Unfortunately it's just one of those things with some dogs. My female Maremma doesn't shed a great deal but the male sheds everywhere, constantly.
