From memory it's just the price which I found different. I find TOTW keeps the weight up on one of my dogs a bit better than Holistic Select. I feel as though my Pug did better on Holistic select by a whisker and my old girl and SBT do better on TOTW.

I would love to keep feeding this but it gets sent to the local post office who has a spaz about the size of the parcels . He insists I collect it straight away and sometimes I cant get in there until a week later due to work. It is the only food which maintains weight on my SBT really well.

What a gorgeous boy!! I'm sorry you've had a rough trot with your vet. I highly recommend Max Zuber at Gladesville Vet (they have a website). I used them for many years and can not fault him, he is terrific and seems to have a sixth sense about diagnoses. Even when I moved further away and was unhappy with a local vet diagnosis, I would go back to Max for a second opinion and he would get it right every time where other vets hadn't. Good luck :)

It's something to do with the pores contracting and making them feel itchy.

I agree, totally different breed traits. If you want something sparky and terrier-ish get a Boston, if you want something affable with a sense of humour get a Pug. FWIW my Pug doesn't shed at all. He is a black, single coat - I thnk shedding would tip me over the edge with all his other quirks

House/dogs Sitter Needed In June For 5 Days
Clyde replied to Tapua's topic in General Dog Discussion
Where are you? I posted something similar a while back and got quite a few pm's from DOL'ers offering to sit. Unfortunately most had kids which rules my place out but perhaps someone here might like a holiday? Alternatively try your vet and also house sitting web sites. -
Many thanks, off to have a squiz

Sorry, only just remembered about this thread as I saw my friends again today. They are still keen for the right dog and I have found one who sounds AWESOME on Pet Rescue. He is with AWDRI. Are they are DOL does anyone know? Your girl sounds a little young Tdierikx but thanks anyway. They really want a more mature dog. While their girl is a sooky princess she is by no means dominant so needs a soft natured companion who won't bully her. Still open to other suggestions, just quietly hoping that the ACD on Pet Rescue is still available. They aren't fussed if the dog is a cross breed but do like the working types as they've previously had ACD's. I would give them my first born, they are just such lovely people and can offer a brilliant home.

Most Cavs shed buckets loads. I would say a Shih Tzu. If in NSW Denise from PAWS rescues a lot of them and they are in foster care long enough to get a true representation of the dog. http://paws.com.au/

I have heard good and not so good but nothing outrageously negative. There are quite a few kennels in that area, if I were to choose one it would be Marendale. A lot of people like Woodcroft too. But with all the above, I have heard good and negative feedback - I guess that is the same for most kennels.

Visitors Here. Dog Not Eating Much N Growling

I disagree with this, but do agree that the dog should see a vet now just to rule anything medical out. -
Is There A Staffy Rescue?
Clyde replied to lilmisssascha83's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Any more info on him? Kids, dogs etc etc Photos? Cheers. -
It's certainly worth looking at it long term and eventually being self employed. Money can be good this way especially if you gain a good rep and have good staff.Good luck

Just as an aside :) Any vet worth their salt knows their patients must be microchipped in accordance with the law. I find it concerning that your apparent, highly esteemed veterinarian has been lax with this. You are also breaking the law by not registering your pets with local council (which imposes hefty fines). Food for thought :) -
Well you have just showed your ignorance yet again. A tick does not have to be engorged for a dog to go down. But stick around 'cos you're obviously learning a lot from this thread
-
Oh, and one of my indoor cats had to be treated for tick paralysis. Thankfully he is still with us
-
Thanks for the 'education' - I am an ex vet nurse so well aware of the symptoms. My friend who lost her dog to a tick in the anus is also a vet nurse. Sometimes the tick is just unable to be found. My Dane X boy was at the vet for 2 days until the tick was found, he was rushed there as soon as he started showing symptoms. He still died beside the best of care. Things aren't always so cut and dry Tralee. It's great that you have been lucky so far but don't always assume that what happens in your case might happen in others. That's purely ignorance on your part. After vet nursing and grooming, I have seen enough cases to be able to be more open minded. :)
-
That's really unfair. I have lost two dogs to ticks, one from the tick itself and one from complications. The first was about 18yrs ago from visiting a tick area and being unaware of them, the second was a tick inside the eye lid on a dog with problematic eyes anyway. The can lodge in a dogs gum, and a friend of mine lost her dog to a tick inside the dogs anus. The poor girl is now so paranoid that her other dog has an internal rectal feel out every day. I had a grooming business in a tick infested area for 7 years, the places these guys get are unbelievable - some dogs react a lot worse to ticks too.

It gets very very cold here - and there are ticks.
-
Do they all have similar traits like a pedigree? If so what are they? I am curious to know more. I am a sucker for anything boofy and pudgy faced. :)
-
Is there a reason why they're calling them Bosdogs? Is that to get away from the generic bulldog types?
-
So they would perish just like the animals in the pet store. So now I don't get your initial attack on the store owners?
-
I agree, I think people need to be sensible about the rules. It's one thing to simply discuss and learn more about other breeds and registries and another to come on here promoting oodly designer dogs and touting hybrid vigour. I think the fact that the AB people have a registry and are striving towards a standard is commendable. People need to move with the times.
