Ahh those blasted ticks. I'm so sorry

Couldn't you find a groomer who could do her in one hour? I get asked that a lot and it's no problem to accommodate provided I'm given enough notice.
-
There is no way my Shih Tzu will get her fluffy, little paws wet. She pees inside when it rains so I have to watch her like a hawk.

Oh that's awful, you must feel sick to the core about it

I remember that episode. What a twit of a woman!

Thank you! It's very rare that I read these posts, I feel exactly the same way.

Agreed! My Esme was the smallest in the litter. She's still petite but that's what I loved about her. She is also still within standard for the breed. I do have trouble keeping weight on her but she is fit as a fiddle. For me, it would depend on the breed. What breed are you looking at?

Need Help! Dog Has Stomach Bowel Problem?
Clyde replied to rob78's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Deleted as I didn't finish reading the thread. -
Even my fussy dog likes this food but they're all doing really stinky farts

Dr Harry is ugly and I reserve a special dislike for him too . He obviously loves animals. You wouldn't think that if you saw him behind the scenes.....
-
I didn't like him at first, mainly from the brain washing here ;) But he's growing on me now. I don't think any vet on TV could fully satisfy DOL. My 6yr old loves him so we now watch it every week together

I think you have a good plan for coat maintenance Sounds like you look after their coats really well. Most cross breed dogs have really hard coats to look after as they matt quickly so you're obviously doing a good job!

Well .. pleased to report my itchy Shih Tzu hasn't reacted to this food. The dogs poos even seem a touch better that from when they were on a 'super premium' kibble. Will keep feeding it to my lot, even the cats are doing well!
-
Great news. I can't believe he even got away with it for as long as he did.
-
Outside definitely! Fresh air, sunlight, dirt to eat, birds to chase and interesting smells
-
That's not expensive for a Standard at all, it's about average to the lower end.

I agree. I don't think it's fair that the kids can't have friends over because of the dogs. I have been in your situation and so I can sympathise. My dog wasn't aggressive at such but if a child ran, the dog would chase and knock them over and start mouthing (very prey driven) - this included my own child. WOuld you consider an enclosure that you can padlock? I have locks on my runs as I dont trust kids not to open them, even my cat enclosure has a padlock so they can get some respite from two legged monsters. I'm very firm about rules here with the dogs and kids and explain to visitors that our pets are not toys and they are to leave them alone. If at all possible try locking the dog out in a yard during the day, then at night bring the dog in to sleep in a crate (if kids sleeping over). Either way, it's important for your children to be able to socialise at home. I have noticed my daughters friendships strengthen with the kids that play here and socially it makes it easier for the kids to establish stronger alliances.

Help! Our Puppy Just Chewed A Hole In The Leather Couch!--upda
Clyde replied to Huntia's topic in Puppy Chat
In reality 100% supervision plus kids and other dogs is really difficult. WOuld you consider a crate? One of my dogs is the most destructive dog I've ever come across and a crate has kept my sanity, although only holding on by a thread If I leave the room he either comes with me or goes in his crate. He's almost one now so I am better at reading his 'moods' and am now able to leave the room and anticipate his movements. It does get better! My boy loves Wasabi, Chilli, Bitter Bite etc - so don't always rely on these things to work. -
Same. The owners comment it's only ever on grooming days

Im not 100% clear on the above and it's difficult to ascertain without seeing the dogs. I charge $60 for a small dog to be clipped washed, ears, nails etc, and it would depend on the coat of the Bath Only dog but say JRT type I would charge about $30-35. SO I think the $146 you paid is on the money and actually a little on the cheaper side. Re. the 'off season' I guess every groomer is different. I don't ever just bathe a dog, every fluffy also has a tidy and I charge $40-45 for this. So given one of your dogs wont need a tidy (bath only) I still think you are being given a fair price. I rarely do just baths/tidies though as I do scissor styles a lot more through winter. It keeps the dog looking styled but still fluffy without getting out of control. I also think the groomer telling you every 3 months she doesn't seem like shes trying to rip you off at all. Rule of thumb is 6-8 weeks, if your dogs are light coated and the groomer knows you maintain the cats then once again, she is on the money for 3 months IMO.

I like her. She's bright and clearly passionate about her job and loves animals. It's nice to see someone 'normal' on shows like these. I wouldn't want to touch a lizard either. People expect TV identities to be perfect people but they're not so we should cut them some slack. I thought she was very brave to even touch it at all :D

These look like a copy? Yes I assume so. They're hard wearing though. I've had the same 4 brushes at work for years.

My Dogue De Bordeaux 8 Weeks Old
Clyde replied to redblazebordeaux's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
It's usually 8wks Caz but toy breeders often hang on to them a little longer -
These are terrific and a fraction of the cost: http://www.petedge.com/product/Grooming/Gr...c/276/47391.uts
