  1. 3 cats (1 Exotic, 2 Persians). The Exotic was adopted from DCH, he waltzed right in here and started throwing his weight around on day one - he is now the boss. My dogs are pretty good with them but I don't leave the Staffords and the cats together when I go out. My two Persians don't defend themselves, they just flop and hope for the best. My Shih Tzu is indoors when I'm out and she enjoys the company of Wayne my Persian (from Jemappelle).
  2. Great photos . 'Cept food on a stick still makes me feel queasy after last year Dagwood Dog :D
  3. Ah, I missed the 5pm cut off time. Oh well, Good luck guys
  4. I'm in, what do I do? Can someone PM me bank details please.
  5. A lot of instructors have adolescent classes, kind of a between of puppy and adult obedience. If you google in our area something might come up.
  6. Fingers crossed she improves in the morning. Stormie, that's a classic photo
  7. You don't want him to be too big, they aren't meant to be bulky and over sized. Go to the DOL breed pages and look at the Joden dogs , yes I am totally biased as my boy is partly Joden but to me that is what they should be. Nice and compact without being 'meat head' looking. Stick to the Royal Canin plus raw chicken wings/necks. Enjoy him! :D
  8. Good luck, I'm sure she'll be fine and back to herself in no time. ;)
  9. Trust your judgement, you know how stressed they were. I completely agree!
  10. Anne, you know where I am - bring them over for a fluff, puff and cuppa, my shout (For interests sake in comparison to Blue Fox I charge $35 for a Pug.)

For those who hate links... ;) Thank you! Horrible story though
  12. So one nice looking bitch out of how many blues? Surely the blues can pull out more examples than just the one.? I'm genuinely interested in seeing them. Any chance of some photos please?
  13. I don't see how a dog can be groomed pinned down aswell. More likely one person was doing the front legs or something and someone else was holding the dog around its throat.
  14. Have you ever worked as a groomer? I can tell you that the small dogs are much more difficult to handle and control than the big dogs. Most people train their bigger dogs whereas the small dogs usually have no training at all - and they bite and wriggle more too. I would rather wrestle with an angry Rottweiler than an angry Maltese/Shih Tzu- bigger dogs are more responsive to voice whereas smaller dogs just freak out and go silly. A good example of why owners really need to do a lot of grooming training at home. It's awful that the groomers pushed so far and not necessarily talking about this instance, but owners also push too. I send a lot of dogs home these days, like yesterday a dog went home half done as he was just too stressed. Most owners get cranky when you don't finish - a groomer can't really win. Then if you send a dog home unfinished word goes around that your salon got a dog so stressed out that they couldn't finish the dog I groomed a really timid Pap yesterday, when I went to pick him up he wee'd himself a little bit. I took it very slow and he was scared the whole time, I informed the owner about everything and she looked at me and said 'he's never done that before', I'm thinking Yeh right, no groomer has ever actually told you before as they don't want your reaction! Some days you just can't win.
  15. I know a few local kennels that don't board entire dogs in peak season. Off season you pay a hefty premium if your dog is entire too. A couple of years ago I was expected to pay that hefty premium even though my girl was only 15 weeks old (I didn't end up needing her boarded thankfully).
  16. Sure you can, where did I say that I did? Although they often like to sun themselves outside of my work area. Is that okay? He couldn't see the cat at all while he was here so it's not like he was being revved up by it (plus revved isn't in his vocab!). I've been washing him every fortnight for the past 6 years and have also minded him before where he was fine with the cats. He has cats at home, which I know is of no consequence, however staying here he has always been fine. It was really off behaviour for him, his Mum is now worried about him with her cats.
  17. Omph - what crap. Sorry, not directed at you but that dog whisperer is full of it. Lovely looking boy. ;)
  18. I groom dogs who will bite other dogs given the chance. Two weeks ago I was chatting to my client with one of my cats lying on the table snoozing. Clients dog jumped up and grabbed my cat by his throat - cat gave that dog no reason to bite him so why isn't the same possible with people? Well, I suppose the only reason is that this dog doesn't like cats - perhaps this Sibe doesn't like kids?
  19. I agree re having two puppies - terribly hard work even for the experienced. Perhaps the laundry area is still quite big? A crate would keep them more confined overnight thus encouraging them to hold on. you might have to get up at say, 4am and let them out for wees/poos. Not many pups at that ages can go all the way through. Re the food, I would definitely try a better brand. As a groomer I see lots of Poodle/Cav crosses and they are prone to smelly ears - Supercoat is notorious for ear infections and the stinks. Perhaps even the Supercoat is encouraging them to poo overnight as they do tend to poo a lot on that food. If you choose to feed dry food I would opt for Eagle Pack or Royal Canin and some chicken necks/wings (raw). Good luck with your new pups PS. I would try to eradicate the paper thing now and just encourage them to take themselves outside.
  20. I would take her somewhere where they have a force dryer. The force dryer will get rid of the scabs, remove any lingering moisture and help separate the hair thus avoiding any matting.
  21. I've got about 12 Studio S bowls in varying sizes. I've had them for about 10 years and they still come up like new after a good wash. I've managed to not ever break one too, they're so sturdy! David and Sonja ROCK!
