  1. Gertrude runs along sniffing the ground, then circles for some time, poos, then bolts off as though she is being chased. It takes her quite a few minutes to complete her ritual. It's about the only time I see her really move.
  2. Why be on the defence at all? Nobody is 'slamming' you, they're just giving you their opinions and you're not liking the answers. That's the idea of a public forum. Did you want everyone to tell you it's a wonderful idea? Makes no difference to me or anyone else here how many pups you get. Get ten for all I care. Now if you said you were buying two blues to breed with every season and make big bucks, then you would understand the meaning of being 'slammed'.
  3. Two very well respected and experienced breeders of Staffords have already replied in this thread. Lots of breeders run on litter mates to show so I'd say they have a better insight than you would think. Owning A Stafford myself there is no way in hell I would consider two same sex litter mates. I've come home to a dead dog in my yard before, trust me it's something you won't ever forget. If you have to get two, get one male one female. I think you need to actually do more research on the breed as you don't seem to understand about their ancestry.
  4. ?? Eh? Could that prong be any thicker on the APBT? ;)
  5. That place looks and sounds really good. I'm ready to move in, they seem to know what they are talking about! The indoor runs however would send my girl in to a frenzy as you can see the dogs next to you. Don't forget we also have PAX on here who runs great kennels, small numbers so heaps of one on one loving. She is towards Windsor.
  6. As a vet nurse I find this very difficult to believe (dog dying from shock of coat being shaved). I suspect there was an underlying cause here. For what it's worth, I shave Chows and Samoyeds at owners requests. We do go through the cons first but being such a tick ravaged area owners opt for shavings. None of these dogs are emotionally damaged. It is common place to shave a dog down at the vets in tick cases, locum or not they're doing their job by finding the source of a deadly toxin. If someone puts their dogs coat before their dogs life, then maybe they need to take a good hard look at themselves. I lost 3 clients to ticks this year, an improvement on over 12 last year
  7. I can't imagine sending my baby girl away to mate/whelp, we would miss each other so much. The breeder would pay me to take her back
  8. If you head over to the Stafford thread you will see that Sandra777 has a black female. Not sure if she freights though, but she is definitely a breeder that I personally would buy from.
  9. Grooming time Slobber or no slobber Space Exercise requirements Compatibility with existing pets and children
  10. She's not the one that named them. I don't really think she was 'slagging them off', just voicing their disappointment.
  11. IMO, Epiotic causes more issues than anything else.
  12. Ah! Good point Pete. It needs to be spelled with one 'r' http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showuser=4031
  13. Click on Members, type in Lorraine and she comes up. http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showuser=9583
  14. I agree. It would be irresponsible to rehome and near impossible to find the right home for this dog anyway. Good luck. Personally, if you feel your baby will be in any danger there is no way I would keep the dog. Your baby's safety should be paramount (and obviously already is due to your concerns ).
  15. I have a grooming business in Sydney and teach people to groom their own dogs if they wish. PM me if interested.
  16. Wow, that poor rescue group. It certainly appears as though they went to blows with pond scum.
  17. What a lovely tribute, I can imagine her lovely, smiling face. I am sorry for your loss.
  18. Ooo, I was hoping we'd get a squiz at these - purely for the Saint factor of course - great shots, beautiful dogs.
  19. He sounds like a typical Dallie who has had no firm boundaries. They tend to guard what is 'theirs'. Dallies don't tend to give a clear warning before having a go. My daughter was nipped on the cheek by one a couple of years ago as she went to close to its owner. I think insecurity is a dog who has no consistent leadership (generally speaking). Sorry to hear it hasn't be a smooth transition. I love his new name, fingers crossed he settles in soon. He sounds lucky to have found you
  20. I had thought that too A lot of people with weekenders out this way use it just for holidays - I can remember calling my vet though complaining that the Proban wasn't working and they said it could take some time to take full effect It eventually did after about 3 weeks.
  21. Did they mention there was a period for the Proban to build up and start working? I think Advantix would still be your best option. Proban will still allow the tick to attach which in some cases can still be detrimental. I recently trialled a Saint Bernard who had a tick attach for only a few hours....... one week and $1500 later Dogs can have severe reactions to them. Check yourself over too - I'm allergic to them, it seems a lot of people are starting to become allergic too. Advantix will help prevent the tick from attaching, then if it gets through the Advantix repellant it then kills the attached tick such as Frontline and Proban. To me it feels as though it is a double preventative.
  22. Lovely seeing the brumbies and scenery, Thanks!! You're very lucky to have all that at your fingertips.
  23. My fave collar for my Rotti was pink and aqua with flowers. - real dogs wear flowers and pink
