Mars Coat King, Furminator Or Something Else?
Clyde replied to ~Aimee~'s topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
On especially windy days the gums outside my work area blow down birds nest made from dog hair. I'm amazed by how soft and inviting they seem, and so perfectly round! The birds obviously know they've hit the mother lode by hanging around my home. -
Mars Coat King, Furminator Or Something Else?
Clyde replied to ~Aimee~'s topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Maybe you're using the wrong Coat King blade type Ellz, as they truly do cut coat if using the appropriate Coat King for the breed. I've got quite a few Coat Kings and have found the ones which don't actually cut are the ones not specific for that coat type. I use them all correctly. It's interesting the different views between the two. I prefer the Furm as a long term result. I think the Coat King gives a better immediate result but not as gentle on the coat over time. -
I'm interested! I just need to make sure Esme can swim first.........

I'd build him up to it. Just small amounts at a time.

Roo mince has always given my dogs the trots. I find if they have it in smaller amounts more regularly (every other day) then they are fine - but once a week would give my dogs the runs. I offered it to my three Persians the other day and ended up spending half the next day washing cat butt

You need boarding kennels don't you? Daycare is where you only leave the dog there during the day and take it home at night. Your dog is better off being in a 'cell' than potentially eaten by another dog in play. If kennels aren't for you then try Don't Fret Pet. I don't use my Shih Tzu in kennels as I prefer home based care for her.

Has Anyone Done Puppy Preschool At Gladesville Vet (syd)?
Clyde replied to macka's topic in Puppy Chat
Gail O' Grady who runs the PPS there is lovely. She is a qualified trainer You can't go past Gladesville as a vet clinic, I've used a lot of clinics before and keep going back despite the distance, as they are just so good. -
I would be interested in reading it when you have time. Thanks

I agree!!

There are other ways to keep her teeth clean. If the bones don't agree with her I would be very cautious about offering them again. Esme did exactly the same as your pup and the next time around I offered a bone, she went in to clinical shock and spent a $2000 week at the Emergency Clinic. The Specialist said he has more dogs admitted with bowel damage due to eating bones than anything else. Every single vet there said to steer clear of any bones from red meat. In the past I've been in the bones brigade but after my experience I am a lot more select in what I give my dogs.

Snap On Comb Sizing For Wahl Clippers
Clyde replied to shells's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I would get the Wahl stainless steel combs from the BARF shop. They are only around $30 and will give you all the lengths you need. The plastic ones are a waste of time. I use the yellow one for a nice spring time length (which gives you 5/8"). -
If it feels like a grain of rice it could be her microchip.

Sooo cute!!!!

I recently had a new client bring in her fluffy who said 'she might snarl but she wouldn't ever dream of biting, she is all show' - the dog tried to tear Shmoo's arm off When the husband collected the dog he checked that we had muzzled as the dog likes to have a go - Um, why didn't your wife mention that?? I rarely muzzle, but don't have a problem with it. If anything most dogs calm right down and then let me do what I need to do. Better for both of us.

This trick did wonders for my Bulldog!

Sagewash - Does Anyone Use This?
Clyde replied to YappyLittleDawg's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
My vet doesn't believe bleach is the best product to use for parvo -
:p I've had quite a few dogs who do this. I believe they are claiming it as theirs. It certainly stops anything else wanting to lick it.

That's exactly how I taught Esme to Speak. She bitches and moans a lot still, but I have noticed since she has learnt the Speak command she doesn't bark at me so much.

I don't know a lot about the breed Eileen, but in this context I would be guessing that the Stafford is dependable. One thing I've noticed with Esme is that her behaviour doesn't change, she has not ever done something out of the ordinary that has taken my by surprise. So therefore I can rely on her as I trust her nature. She is my first dog that I have ever trusted so much with my daughter. Yes, yes I know people shouldn't trust their dogs with kids and so on, but I do absolutely trust Esme. I'm still aware that she has teeth and my daughter cannot be fully trusted, but I know Esme is reliable, would not ever 'turn' and I can pretty much always predict Esme's next move. Somebody else might come along and blow my theory out of the water :p But that has been my gist of it so far. Esme is broken in terms of the 'fearless' though... :p

:p I'm so sorry Anne, I know how devoted you are to the breed so I can only imagine what Beau meant to you. :p

This Is My Cute Little New Puppy, Georgea
Clyde replied to Bow Wow's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
It is spelt Georgea, TeGz with ea. It is going to take me a while to get used to spelling it like that, as i am used to ia. Why don't you just spell it 'ia' if it's an adjustment for you? To be honest I think the breeder just didn't know how to spell Georgia properly - think of it as putting your own stamp on her and ridding her off her past - (or satisfying spelling nazi's... ) Wonderful she's been give a clean bill of health I had a Cavalier foster dog (PAWS) here the other day, I was a bit tempted to keep her myself. She's already found a home with my neighbours who adore her. Such dear little dogs! -

Did they have their head buried in the sand? I find it surprising that this womans vet would not be more aware of what was going on. Pleased that is legit though Bindi -

Far out That was putrid. I am shocked that only 5 dogs were actually seized. Well, at least Georgea has a safe and loving home now. I can't believe she is still allowed to breed especially at that scale. I was disheartened by the Inspector saying you wouldn't find dogs in this condition in a pet store. Now the general public will think it's okay and 'safe' to buy from pet stores!
