That must be disappointing for you Jersey is not looking overly tubby but has gained a lot of weight. She tried to jump on my lap yesterday and didn't make it. She seemed rather surprised about that cause she is usually very nimble. Poor sausage is lying about looking not so happy with the world and not doing very much at all now.

I am hoping Jersey (Cavalier) is in whelp. If she is she's due 24th. She is acting much quieter than usual and is starting to look like she has a little belly so fingers crossed!

You can buy spaniel bowls. I prefer a stainless steel bowl for water and the only ones I have found are probably more cocker spaniel size but they are not too bad and mostly the ears don't get wet.

One of the 'selling points' some breeders use is the "there's none of that in my lines." Just cause they say it doesn't make it true...

Arcane hard to believe there are that many with problems that you see often! I used to work in a grooming salon so I met and handled quite a few Cavaliers apart from my own and I certainly didn't see all the problems you are seeing. Yes the breed does have problems and should be being bred carefully by knowledgeable breeders. Unfortunately they are very popular and the backyarders found out years ago they sell very well.

Gee I really hope they aren't too far gone or I am really wasting my time! There are health issues in every breed.

I often trim the fur while they are lying on the lounge and relaxed :)

I soak the dry food until it is mush and then mix mince through it using my hands so it is quite smooth.
