They are warm tones and lovely shallow depth of field and I think that tree is amazing!! Very moody and eerie, kinda spooky, I half expect to see a witch on a broomstick flying by. I love it. You can play around with the depth of field, I'm guessing you had it wide open for the doggy shots which gives a limited range of what's in focus. I like the effect but you might want it wider. Any ideas why they are so much darker on the computer screen than on my camera? Took the tree one early this morning, in the fog, and had lighter shots on the camera but they seemed over-exposed. Will take me a while to work out how to use my camera I think. On that tree photo, can you see the stone wall and bench in the pic? I can't see them on my computer screen at all, but they are quite clear on the camera. Re the greyhound, those are his scared eyes - don't point that thing at me is what he's saying . I only have very basic editing skills and only use the programs that came with my camera but you would be able to lighten that tree pic up and play around with shadows and contrast more to give more definition to it. kja Posted June 24, 2011 Share Posted June 24, 2011 Great to see you positing, gap! On your camera, make sure you have your histogram turned on. That's the little graph on the lcd screen - that will give you a better idea of how your exposure is than looking at the photo on the screen will. If you can, turn on your blinkies so that the totally black and totally blown areas of a photo will blink to alert you - sometimes you WANT those areas, but sometimes you don't. I'm pleased with them though - managed to get it all OK without resorting to the auto settings (despite being very tempted to just turn it on around to Portrait LOL!!!).
