ness Posted January 19, 2012 Share Posted January 19, 2012 Hmmm Kenz was going great until she fell of a ledge this morning because of a bloody cat. She is up to 1.65km 4 times a day and being confined (but not on crate rest) the rest of the time. This morning was her first 1.8km walk. All she is allowed are leash walks and I am allowed to increase the distance by 10%, twice a week. The specialist is using the same rehab protocol he would recommend if she had had joint surgery. ness Posted January 19, 2012 Share Posted January 19, 2012 (edited) Its not to bad - so long as its not 36+++ otherwise its then a little tricky to get 4 walks in. Just back from walk number 2 for the day . If I don't walk her then she is stir crazy - we have a few days of 36 coming up and we might just aim for 3 walks especially since we are pushing slightly longer distances now. And keepng him in a crate while he is growing is worse for puppies so crate rest is out he is a lot better after 2 days of beng quiet and just swimming so guess we will see Why is crating him worse when he is growing? I would think limping would be worse because then he is building muscles unevenly Oh to have the luxury of time for so many walks in a day Would be nice wouldn't it! Here's hoping for Powerball tonight! ness Posted January 19, 2012 Share Posted January 19, 2012 RS - not really they don't take that long about 15-20 min. I had 2 walks done yesterday before 9am and then did another 2 after 6pm. ness Posted January 19, 2012 Share Posted January 19, 2012 Even when I was doing work at a law firm and doing full days at uni Ness would still get 4-6km twice a day - until Ptolomy got her stick out and told me she didn't need that much and would work better in obedience if I walked her less :laugh:. Touch wood for all his stiffness ( its more stiffness) than a limp his muscles are not uneven, i keep getting them checked. Of course some judges don't like them but who cares :) Pups were born today :D 3 red/tan girls and a black/tan girl (plus 2 black/tan boys) So now the wait is on to see which (if any) come to WA in the middle of March :D AP, I couldn't have asked for better with the litter :D 3 in my preferred colour too so hopefully one of those is the pick dog. I don't mind black/tan but if she was bred to Banjo in the future that means I could only get black base dogs. If I got a red/tan I could get a combination of red and black, with and without markings :D I did a little jig of excitement for you Mirawee Heres hoping that one of the four is show worthy!!! and yes a red & tan would be far better for breeding prospects!!! Dont forget - we need pictures when you have them ;) Ive been taking lil Wandy to dog training this time, we started two weeks ago! She is having such a ball - although she wants to eat all the other dogs!!! I think there is only one dog that wants to be friends and play with everyone....the rest (5 girls!!) arent interested! Even Im learning new stuff!!! Its such a great little club - helps when the instructor is sooooo into it :D sorry to hear about all the sore hoppy dogs After Wandy broke a toe a few years ago, we went through months of on and off again lameness......She has 6 monthly Cartrophen jabs, and is on Glucosamine & vit c everyday and I dont think Ive seen her limp in the last 12 months!! This is fantastic news!! I was planning on giving tracking another go this year with Ari, as last year she was on motherly duties for most of the tracking season! however like RS, it's a time thing...I've committed myself to a fair bit with Lulu this year, but I'm going to try and get the tracking in with Ari. I have decided that sleeping is over rated - so will pinch an hour from that bucket and if I halved my shower and eating times - there is another few minutes - so looks like I have plenty of time I was always going to do tracking with Lara, I had a couple of training sessions many many many years ago, but I just never got back to it. Then when Strauss came along and didn't have the get up and go for an obedience dog, I thought perhaps tracking might be for him BUT I have since found his "crazy" button as his breeder calls it and he might just be my next obedience dog after all, so thinking Beans or Lexi might get a guernsey for this gig.
