V.i.p. Natures Goodness Grainfree Dryfood

I can honestly say that the worst I have ever fed any of my dogs is Advance canned food and that, only one meal.

This is because I think ahead for feeding my dogs the same as I think ahead for feeding us humans.....and also because I particularly do not want to clean up sloppy poos after them and I want them to feel the best they can, not feel sick in the stomach as they must if they have sloppy poos. I am anal about this!!! LOL

Trialling all the different premium dogfoods to find what suits them best was interesting, some of it did cause soft poos....some only soft to begin with but with others the soft poos did not improve.

Of course ALL dogfood has fillers in it, even the grainfree ones, it's just not grain but potatoes or similar. If you don't want fillers then you feed BARF or raw or cooked food that you have prepared yourself.

LOL!! Stitch! I understand your anality!!! rofl1.gif But my guys have cast iron stomachs (they are westies after all!) and canned dog food makes their poo really voluminous and smelly!! Fish and chips are a much better option IMO! But each to their own! Its rare that I run out of everything (usually think ahead by having Home Brand mackeral and sardine cans in the cupboard as back-up) but maybe once or twice a year it all goes really pear-shaped with no thawed food or canned fish! Team that with an 8 pm finish at work and fish and chips it is!

As to fillers, the alternative to making your own here is do what Snook and me do and buy the raw mix from Adelaide Dog! We're really spoilt here having easy supply of this stuff. Best ever dog food IMO. (It's Yellowgirl's orginal mix - there was a thread a few years back on how she arrived at the formula for it).

Mine are raw eaters as well, but, if I have been slack and forgotten to defrost their minced turkey necks they get taste of the Wild, they chomp it down really fast...it is their take-away

We caught three marine cat-fish and had them for tea the other night...enormous thick fillets, grilled with bread crumbs, the dogs had one each, they thought they were a bit of ok.

Ha!! Home made fish and chips! I knew it!!! I'm not the only one!!!rofl1.gif.

Come on everyone...' fess up! Who else has been known to feed 'funny stuff' on occasions when the cupboards bare? rofl1.gif

 love the fish and chips  Stan just opens the fridge and helps himself :o they get a meat pie on their birthday :D

We occasionally share with ours. They love just about anything but favourites would be chips, ice cream and my bulldog loves coke, cordial and juice. She doesn't get much but is allowed a little taste every now and then :)

rofl1.gifrofl1.gifrofl1.gif Ahhh! They're coming out of the woodwork now! rofl1.gifrofl1.gifrofl1.gif

 yes mine have put a specialist request in and would like to know if westiemum would like to temporarily care for 2 VERY STARVED BCs .

Which reminds me I went out to brave the Easter shopping crowd today - came back with 4 lamb forequarter bits and 2 tins of sardines = 2 very well fed BCs and picked up bugger all for me so I now have to brave the shops for a second time :o.

Ness love to!!!rofl1.gifrofl1.gif I already have four here so another two will make no difference at all - they'll just have to bring their own lounge (Mine's booked out at the moment! laugh.gif ) The menu for this evening is raw meat, veg and sardines for them all - oh and there might be some sweet potato as well assuming I get around to cooking it? Would that suit your royal starvees???

Dinner is served at 6.30 pm sharp! rofl1.gifrofl1.gif

Which reminds me any interested Adelaideans - I've just bought the last bag of the 7 kg grain free from Woolies at the Arkaba - so you will need to try somewhere else!smile.gif Yep Ness I've just looked at the Woolies bill - mainly canned fish, collar and lead for Oliver, 7kg bag of VIP dog food dog food - and rice flour for me!!! Its all dog stuff!!!!

Lounge = hmmmmm the borders will just take over the bed instead  Yeah think the starved ones would be more then happy with that on the menu. They may otherwise be forced into consuming dry food here tonight . They say the only problem with your menu is the time its being served. They are use to eating at 5pm on the dot so they might be a little hungry by 6:30 .

 I could have packed a collar and lead for Oliver. Think I have a Rogz that the bord outgrew .

Urgh must go find human food and enough for the parents as well - double yikes.

Yep but if I feed the westies that early then they are demanding seconds as a bedtime snack!!! I have a spare collar here too but the spare lead got run over by the car 12 months ago sadly! But the collar swims on the poor little guy so I figured he deserves his own collar and lead - so got a rather smart collar and padded lead from Woolies - yes really! laugh.gif Very smart black matching numbers ready for the dog park this afternoon. Oliver did very very well at the dog park - very social little man who was everyones friend!! Very pleased with the little bloke. He's coping really well with so much change and new stuff in his life. smile.gif

Nawww see poor westies = you get tea at 5pm and then you get your bedtime biscuit at 8pm . Man I got into some "strange" routines with Kenz post-op.

Bad Ness!!! You don't need to encourage them. Particularly after the veritable feast they are getting tonight!! Have just cooked and mashed up a kg of sweet potato for them this evening. And the initial tasting from the TM on the slaves finger passed muster. Will of course havbe a sardine garnish when served this evening! thumbsup1.gif

 What a great thread! This has provided a much needed giggle so thank you all! :)

Fish and chips, yum! I think the worst I am guilty of for feeding as a emergency meal was cat food  That went down a treat and I figure it's only fair as Paris (cat) likes helping Molly eat her dinner!

So Westiemum it may take me a little bit longer than Ness to drop off my two. They are easy and don't get on the furniture but dinner at 6.30  Cooper would have exploded long before then  Thanks so much in advance

I bought a bag today so will see how they go tomorrow with it mixed in.
