Wasn't there a whole family of Russian royalty -

Anastasia

Katarina

Alex (variations on that theme)

Nicky (also variations on that theme)

Natasha, Tash

Olga

Maria (lot of ordinary Christian religion names from before the revolution).

Tatiana

I'm thinking if it's one of those fast dogs - naming it after a fast russian plane.

I think some are called is "Mig" ie varieties of Mikoyan jet fighter

there's also

Sukhoi, and Tupolev

And I quite like Ilyushin

Lara was the heroine's name in the book & movie Dr Zhivago set in Russia.

Larisa was the name of a Russian skater...another, Maya.

Xenia (pronounced Zeenya) is the name of a Russian female saint.

Went thro' book of Russian stories and found:

Agafya (don't pronounce the 'y')

Sofia

Katya

Tatyana

Tamara

Daria

Sabina

Tasha (shortened Natasha)

Elena (Russian version of Helen)

Maya always sounds Aztec to me! laugh.gif

If you really like Sascha, but feel it has been overdone (which i would agree is very true), what about Tasha (being short for Natasha lol with the brother Boris!!!)?

Or Tasia, short for Anastasia?

Boris means "wolf" in Russian. A female wolf in Russian is "volchitsa" , which is a bit of a mouthful but perhaps you could shorten it to something more attractive.

Chitsa? Perhaps not.

Volcha? Ha haha sounds like a good name for most ever hungry puppies!

Here is a list of Russian female dog names, with pronunciation. Have fun!
