  1. I've had my Dyson V6 for a couple of years now. I am finding I spend more time unclogging it now than actually using it to vacuum. The only thing I can think of is that the engine stops working as well, it doesn't suck as strongly so more hair gets tangled in the roller bits. It is amazing where hair actually gets into... I pulled it apart yesterday because it wasn't working again and dunno how the bit that was clogged up got clogged up. Pretty much never cleaned my Dyson barrel and I've had that for about 13 years.
  2. An overseas FB friend has a Bohemian Shepherd. I'm a bit smitten!
  3. Interesting dogs! Can we add in our own breeds we like that aren't here?
  4. What a dickhead owner. He should be charged as he quite clearly encouraged the behaviour.
  5. They have actually come up with a breed standard. It is on their FB page. I was happy to see Blue not allowed as a colour but then confused to see that they had bred blue puppies. Don't really see the point of this cross. They look like not very well bred staffies to me. I can't see any great health benefits either. Interested to see who sold them well bred foundation stock and to hear that they are happy for their well bred purebred dogs to be used to create a new breed. Or are they just using backyard bred dogs?
  6. A friend didn't like poodles either. She got a poodle cross. Then we saw some standards in a shaggy clip and she loved them. There is not guarantee what temperament they are going to have as they are mutts. I've dealt with heaps of them btw as a trainer and groomer. Some even have thin muzzles so no guarantee what face shape you are going to get.
  7. Yeah standard poodle in a shaggie cut. Show the pic first and then tell your friend it is a poodle!
  8. For me early desxing would be prior to six months. Pushing it to a year. I doubt you will get a vet to say that 1 year is too young to desex and will cause health issues. To be honest whilst I do sympathise with your predicament it is also annoying me a bit that you are trying to use health as a loophole. I have a dog that I couldn't desex for health reasons and it was not a pleasant experience. No one wants a sick pet.
  9. I think it is more that if you have more than 3 bitches you have to now register not that you have to have 3 before you can register. Most people aren't going to want to register with just one dog.
  10. They are much less annoying to use with the lack of cable. I was worried it would make my hand ache but it doesn't. But I don't feel that they cope super well with pet hair or long human hair. You will be spending quite a lot of time unclogging the brush etc. Mine scratched my wooden floor because a little wheel got jammed on the bottom and wasn't turning properly.
  11. Had a similar experience when I got a horse that had been wrapped in cotton wool and only shown in hand. He was also from a sandy area. Had no idea how to walk over a ditch, didn't get what a puddle was etc etc Never forget the day I was cracking the shits because he wouldn't walk down a little slope and over a ditch. I finally really looked at him and could see he had no idea where to put his feet. I thought he was just naughty. Learnt a lot about training an animal from that horse.
  12. There are so many different stories about what happened with this. Even different stories from family! One I read saying it was the grandmother's dog but that she had only had it 3 months and it was a rescue dog.
  13. Unless it says don't freeze on the roll I would freeze some of it. I do this with the Prime roll. Chop into daily portions and then freeze some of it. Assuming you haven't got a frozen Prime roll. Not sure if the frozen Prime rolls are cooked. I get the single protein rolls normally.
  14. Not sure I would say better but different maybe. My dog eats everything but did give me a 'are you sure?' look when I dished BARF patties up. Interestingly the same dog did not do well on Canidae or MFM! (or Blackhawk).
  15. When you say BARF do you mean those patties? If yes - make your own. Or try some other loaf. The VAN one. I use the Prime ones a fair bit. Prime do a 'BARF' mix. I nearly barfed when I used the BARF patties but can dish up the Prime ones!!
  16. Yes I had a puppy doing strange things and no it had nothing to do with vaccinations.
  17. Is this what your puppy is doing?
  18. I did ask if she was reacting differently after food and you said no. So are you now saying she is acting strange after food?
  19. Is the puppy acting like this after she has eaten? say 30 mins after? how is her appetite? Does she press her head into things? Is she small?
  20. Not to mention my pet peeve of people taking for gospel what is written on pet food review sites.
  21. I did have a Dr tell me to eat fast food Really all dry & tinned/rolls food is 'fast food'. Anyway I think you are missing the point a bit. Which is the level of angst we go through now to feed our pets. (disclaimer: I have never fed Pal, more for me because I think it stinks!)
  22. Yeah I think that the pet food companies (expensive ones) are finding this all quite hilarious. Problem is we love our pets so much that we don't dare feed the Pal, just in case. My first cat only ever got Whiskars, dry and wet. She passed in her sleep at 20+. Never a day at the vet from ill health. First 2 dogs got Super Coat and Nature's Gift. Mind you those were fancy foods back then Nature's Gift wasn't available from supermarkets and not sure about Super Coat, I'm thinking that wasn't either. Then I decided to do BARF and really it all went down hill from there
  23. I originally thought that being attached to the belt thingo would be bad but then I considered that when lunging an unruly horse I did use to put the lunge rope around my hip area which gave much better stability. I think you had horses too Sars? I can understand your initial worries. I get concerned if I see a smallish lady walking a biggish dog that looks like it could pull her over. And I don't like walking past kids walking large dogs. Had a lady wrap her dogs lead around a fence once as I approached. That was alarming but at least she knew she needed extra reinforcements to hold the very, very large dog! But as others have pointed out these pooches seemed to be trained to walk this way. Good discussion!
