  1. I tried to find photos of dog walkers walking heaps of dogs and it going wrong. So far no luck. Found this instead and was pretty impressed. Although it could have gone horribly wrong! http://www.fox26houston.com/news/dog-walker-lines-up-16-dogs-for-photo
  2. I stay home too. neither of my dogs are going to get super upset, Poppy gets a bit anxious. I just got into the habit of staying home when I had horses and just prefer to stay home now. I don't want to think about being out having fun when the pets are potentially distressed at home.
  3. I had the same issue recently whilst one of my girls was on pred. It wasn't a fun experience. She would walk and drip wee, add a tail wag in and you would have a wee sprinkler! I just tried to go back to puppy habits of taking her out a lot to wee. It was only for about a month but still wasn't fun.
  4. One of the guys looks like he could bench press 200kg
  5. I'm a vego. I used to get the butcher to cut up the organ meat for me None objected to that. I've had them mince liver too when I wanted to make cookies.
  6. Try and get some liquid into her. She might be dehydrated.
  7. I would give the antibiotics a chance to work then and feed a bland diet. She has had a fair amount of drugs so agree with Pers that probiotics might help after the current antibiotics.
  8. Hard to answer as it would depend on what was causing the dog issues. Did she have issues prior to the last couple of weeks? Has her poo been tested for bugs? I wouldn't feed either of the foods the vet has suggested. But that is personal preference and my dogs haven't done well on one of the foods, although that food is probably totally different from the last time I fed it! But then I haven't had much success with a lot of the 'trendier' premium foods that a lot of people on here like ie Ivory Coat, Meals for Muts etc What kibble did the last owner feed her? Was she in good condition when you got her?
  9. So who has taken Xmas snaps of their dogs this year? This is one of my out takes and shows what Amber thought of having to be a model!
  10. As i walk through my local reserve every dog that lives backing on to the reserve barks its head off. Houses backing on to reserves and sporting fields (and corner blocks) are on my 'don't buy' list as iI know barking would happen and t would drive me nuts. Which doesn't really help you! Mine do come in at dusk as well so as others have suggested maybe just do that.
  11. This thread is odd. Why are we talking about a food that isn't even available here. Plus how did the owner appear so quickly in this thread. I guess they could be using an internet alert, but all a bit odd.
  12. Missing the point a bit. A 'keto' diet is a normal dog diet. I want to know if a) dogs actually go into ketosis and if they do is it a natural state for them.
  13. My argument would be that a high protein diet would be normal for a dog therefore their bodies wouldn't go into ketosis the way a human does. Or rather ketosis doesn't apply to them. Silly marketing ploy using catch phrases to suck people in.
  14. Ketogenic is a strange word to use when talking about dog food.. You eat a ketogenic diet to go into ketosis. I guess low carb doesn't sound as sexy. Just plain silly.
  15. I've currently got a broken side fence. It got blown over in a storm on Monday. Luckily the neighbour and his sons have made it quite sturdy but it is still technically broken. Having a broken fence doesn't make you an irresponsible dog owner. If she was letting the dog escape through the broken fence that would be irresponsible but the article said she was keeping the dog in the house because of the fence.
  16. The dog might have gone over very high fences. The report did state that she was keeping the dog inside after that. The dog had attacked a person that had attacked the owner, from what I can work out. I wonder if the woman and the man had a fight and the dog went in. They might even have just been kissing or something. Another report that shows the dog with the owner http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-10-25/dog-death-canberra-watson-police/9083028 All very sad.
  17. Ok none blurred out photos in this story. Not totally eaten off but the dog had a good chew on it!! http://www.news.com.au/sport/sports-life/former-afl-star-campbell-browns-fatherinlaw-is-australias-unluckiest-pet-owner/news-story/194f1a94b61e53697e44441943c050ac
  18. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4886832/Gruesome-injuries-dad-s-toes-chewed-chihuahua.html?ito=social-facebook_Australia A Chi has eaten its owner's big toe whilst he slept! The man has diabetes so can't feel his feet. This is all very horrible BUT the same dog ate the man's other big toe 2 years ago!!! Why would you let the dog still sleep on the bed after that?
  19. This is a new problem? The dog didn't always have allergies? If yes then it is possible it is 'old age' or more to the point something else is going on. Amber had a nasty allergy when her liver was playing up. I was doing all sorts of food elimination diets that weren't doing much, actually made her condition worse as I was using super premium foods that were quite high in protein.
  20. Hi Sorry you are in this situation. The surgery is risky but if successful the dog normally lives a normal life span. I chose to have a specialist ultrasound rather than going straight to the CT. Specialist in that it was at a vet emergency place rather than a normal vets. This did show up the shunts, which were inoperable. Doing that could be a gamble as if it doesn't show up the problem you then have to get the CT and end up paying more money. There are also risks with the CT as they need to sedate the puppy which isn't good with liver issues. I treated my dog medically. She was given given 6 months to live at 11 months old. She will be turning 8 this year. It is hard work and you need to be pretty dedicated with the medicine and food. The medicine and food are also going to add up to a lot of money. You have to be careful with worming and vaccinations. If they get sick with something else then it becomes tricky to treat them with other drugs or if they need a general. Good luck with whatever you decide. If you have any other questions just ask.
  21. Is your dog a 'shy' pooper? I had this issue with my dog last year. I ended up taking her to a place that she regularly poops at (local park), putting her on a long lead and pretty much turning my back on her. She also had a nasty shaving rash and putting cream on that also helped the pooping situation. After an op you just want your dog to wee, poop and eat and I never relax until they do so I feel your pain
