  1. I pay $65 for a small bag of k/d. I've found that by the time you add postage to the online prices that they usually aren't cheaper.
  2. You need to find out what is wrong with the dogs first. Feeding chicken frames to a dog with a liver issue may kill the dog for instance.
  3. Does sound like a stomach issue. IBD probably. (This isn't the same as IBS). IBD would be like say Crohns in a human. Especially if the Flagyl is helping. I did feed hairball food to a cat to help with IBD issues. There was something about the hairball food, I think it was the fibre, that helped with IBD. So maybe the vet is trying something like that. Saying Holistic Select is a crap food is really dumb though. Just doing bloods for the liver isn't very helpful. You need to do bile tests and you need to ultrasound the liver. My dog's severe liver problem doesn't really show up in a blood test.
  4. You have the option of RC & Hills, so you could do some rotating. I put some yogurt or cheese on top of Amber's occasionally too.
  5. Poppy would be fine without sedation for an ultrasound but Amber isn't very good with it. The vet specialists tried it and ended up having to sedate her. Think she had a bad experience with an xray at one place. Most people probably wouldn't even notice this discharge it is very light. I check her belly for fluid every night so noticed it. I think she is working herself up to a phantom as she is really hungry. Hopefully it is just a low grade infection but I would have thought the antibiotics would have kicked in by now. She continues to be very well. The best she has ever been actually.
  6. A week into the antibiotics and there is still a slight discharge Have another 5 days to go with the drugs. Her bloods were pretty good. The vet was very surprised considering her condition. So I am still freaked out. Even an ultrasound is a bit of a problem due to sedation. I also have to decide what level of intervention I am going to do with her.
  7. My horse did save me one day. I had a rather feral Dexter cow that charged me in the paddock. My horse left his dinner and got in between me and the cow and then chased him off! He gave that cow a hiding!
  8. Whilst not super heroic my dogs have alerted me to issues a number of times over the years. Like when a pony was caught in a fence. They actually came up to the house, found what room I was in and started barking, running off and coming back. It was quite a clear indication that I needed to come out. Other instances have been when my front lawn was on fire and when one of the dogs was very sick.
  9. I wouldn't be blaming the pitbulls either unless someone saw it start. I've taken a few stray dogs home since Ive lived here and the nastiest by far was a Maltese! It went for my dogs and I have no doubt that it would have bitten me! There is another lady who always scoops her Maltese up when she sees me and I was a little bit offended until she explained that the dog is really aggressive!
  10. Do you actually have any qualifications to be giving these reviews? Degrees etc or is it simply your opinion?
  11. What exactly is your agenda here? Actually, I thought the same :) , but I had a look at the pet food review site and it looked pretty good and I think a good idea to have an aussie version of dog food advisor. I would prefer a bit more detail though. I don't think there is an agenda and hope I am right. I have zero interest in a review site that doesn't give the qualifications of the person doing the reviews. I don't think much of overseas version either though.
  12. if you have heating on inside your house he might be hot too. Mine will get quite panty and restless if they are too warm. Poppy was panting away last night.
  13. Fingers crossed the AB clear it up. My options with her are a bit limited The vet is calling the specialists to discuss desexing. At the time of diagnosis they said no to operations but they also only gave her 6 months.
  14. Pretty funny really that a bunch of us have been checking in to see if Sheena's dog has pooped  Boss " what have you been doing today Jules" Me "checking DOL to see if Sheena's dog has pooped"
  15. Anyone? I'm pretty stressed out about it.
  16. Amber came into season about 7 weeks ago and still has a very light bloody discharge. She normally has quite long seasons and her discharge stays bloody throughout them. She is super well at the moment. Has even put some weight on. Went to the vets today. The discharge has a tiny bit of bacteria in it but nothing very tragic. They took bloods and put her on a course of antibiotics. It could be a very mild infection but as her temp is normal and she is really well I am a bit concerned about things like cysts or other reproductive issues. Anyone had any experience with a season that was super long? Or anything like this?
  17. Amber goes nuts :) She has been very demanding this time and has been doing the barking for food. She also gets sooky too and wraps her front legs around my legs. I still walk her though. Just not at off lead dog parks.
  18. I was not suggesting agility equipment as such, just a range of similar items that were low. As OSS puts it bridges may be a better term. Tyres lying on the ground instead of set up as a jump. I would not have thought the risk of injury was any greater than the dog jumping off the top f a pile of dirt/pipe/sane etc. Another thing I have seen give many a dog much fun but you might not be happy with is bales of straw. One think I knew but has been compounded over the last few years, no matter what you do, try to do and no much how much sffort you put in there will awlays be someone who doesn't like it. All you can do is your best and safest. Was I not supposed to give my view?
  19. Well that could have made Amber pretty sick too. Could have caused her to have a fit. Tell your class that you can't tell my looking at a dog whether it has a medical condition or allergies. I don't know why people feel the need to go around feeding other people's dogs. Drives me batty. Heaps of people want to do it at dog school and I am always having to stop them with Amber.
  20. I wouldn't want dogs going on agility equipment unsupervised and I wouldn't want kennel staff putting my dogs over agility equipment. It would probably put me off a kennel if I saw that sort of stuff in the yards.
  21. I think they would have to be pretty old - in the eastern states its been at least 20 years. They sign a COE and agree to abide by that - register all puppies. Umm I am 47yo and when I was a breeder there was no limit registry.
  22. Pet puppies were sold without papers prior to the introduction of the limit registry. Maybe the breeder is an older breeder and doesn't agree with the limit registry. They are the only ones that know why they are doing it. But apart from the fact they are breaking a ANKC rule I don't think it automatically makes them a bad breeder.
