I use raincoats too. I don't walk on super windy days or in thunderstorms! So they missed out yesterday. I do expect them to not act like idiots if they don't go out. I like walking in the rain as you don't get too many other people out walking so it is nice and peaceful.

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas!

That cat is plotting your death  -
Funnily they said that it was really bad last Wednesday and I had whinged about the dogs on here in a off-topic thread on the same day!!!

Just received a noise complaint letter! Which is annoying because I work from home so obviously know what my dogs are doing. It is my neighbors dogs that bark all the time! I was whinging about them last week on here. So I have just gone and knocked on all my neighbors doors! Everyone in my court said my dogs weren't a problem. I finally found the culprit on the next road. The people were cool that it wasn't my dogs and asked me to drop the letter into the right house! This is the second time though that someone behind me has thought it was my dogs because of the way the court is situated I think so I am a bit (a lot) freaked out. Is there anything else I can do? I'm rarely out of the house for more than an hour so I am 100% sure mine aren't barking a heap.

I wouldn't be giving the dog bones. Heaps too hard for it to digest.

Genuine query : I get that IBD means the stomach is very inflamed. But isn't it still relevant and valid to work out WHY it became inflamed in the first place? And couldn't that be because of proteins that irritated the stomach in the first place and which over-time developed/progressed to IBD? ??? They don't really know what causes IBD but think it is a hereditary or immune problem. It isn't like a allergy. It is a congenital condition too, you don't develop it. I am talking about real IBD here. Say you have a dog with IBD that is currently in remission and it eats a steak, it should be ok. If it ate the steak during a flair up then it might get sick.
-
If it really is IBD then food intolerances is not a cause. Food can make it worse as the stomach etc are so inflamed that digesting food is a problem. I would be looking at feeding small, easy to digest meals. Meaty Bites are so processed that they would be easy to digest. Roughage would be bad. Think processed but not greasy/fatty. You need steroids for IBD as the stomach etc is inflamed. A friend of mine had to have a blood transfusion with Crohns so loss of blood internally is a common symptom. There are actual ulcers that are bleeding in the guts.

It is designed to mix hot and cold water so not really the right thing for you to be using. You need some sort of single connection.

The rest of the diet is veges. That doesn't make the dog a vego
-
So the dog being fed by the non-vego isn't even being fed a vego diet? Heaps of people would just feed kibble.

Score One Against Bsl: Officer Shoots Himself Trying To Kill Apbt
JulesP replied to sandgrubber's topic in In The News
The dog did run at the police man and was barking (the owner admitted this). The police man didn't know that the dog wasn't going to bite him. If he had shot and killed the dog that would have been pretty tragic but what was he supposed to have done? Dogs in front yards = bad idea. -
What Food Can Your Dog Not Resist?
JulesP replied to Loving my Oldies's topic in General Dog Discussion
HE is Hepatic Encephalopathy. Basic it is a bunch of weird symptoms that occur when the liver doesn't do its job of removing toxins from the blood. Staring into space is a common symptom. http://www.doglivershunt.com/hepatic-encephalopathy.html -

Has he had his liver checked? Bile readings? A lot of the stuff he is doing is so much like Amber. The food issue and just general weird stuff that was caused by the HE. -
The vegos that have posted on this thread do feed their dogs meat. The person is question is NOT a vego. So lets not be slagging off vegos. Even the Vegans that I know feed their dogs meat. I didn't make any reference to the vegans/vegetarians who feed their dogs meat so I'm not sure where you're getting the idea that I'm "slagging them off". I've bolded the bit so you can re-read it. The majority of my friends are vegans/vegos and all of them feed their dogs meat. You said you can't understand vegos not feeding their dogs meat but the person in question is not a vego.

Masterpet Australia is a subsidiary of Masterpet Corporation which is a NZ company. So not really accurate to say it is Australian owned. The 2 companies even have the same CEO, who interestingly is based in Australia.

How much did it cost Airedaler? Did he also polish the teeth?

Amber has been on a soy based diet for about 4 years now. Her coat is great and she has stacks of energy. Bright eyes and white teeth. I actually get random strangers commenting on how healthy the dogs look. (For people that don't know Amber is on this diet for health reasons)

You could feed a dog a vego diet and feed mainly protein still. You have eggs, soy, cottage & ricotta cheese, legumes etc. Vegan is slightly harder.

Which Breed Is Right For The First Time Dog Owner?
JulesP replied to Pretty Miss Emma's topic in General Dog Discussion
I don't agree with the whole first time owner thing. I've got friends that have had multiple dogs and I still wouldn't sell them a border collie puppy. Or any dog to be honest. -
No danger of the pup being caught up in BSL if the pound is involved? I think you need to tell the person to come and get the pup or to give it to you. If she just puts it back next door, I would then call the pound/RSPCA.

You are assuming that it is because of your dog. They might be doing it because of their dogs! -

This Footwork & Teamsmanship Is Just Amazing
JulesP replied to sheena's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Gawd my club used to have hysterics about blind crosses. I could never work out the problem as my dogs weren't the nicking off types. This lady is staying a lot closer to the dog then other handling systems I've seen. -

This is what Amber used to do. So I feel your pain as it really stressed me out. Think I went through every food available. Hard to know what to suggest as you don't have a diagnosis. I used a kids drink when Amber was really poorly and still use it now if she decides she doesn't want to eat. It is called Pediasure and is available at Chemists Warehouse. Natures Gift kibble is very smelly. Smells sort of like vegemite. Have you tried that one?
