  1. No stress at all with the dogs. Hubby didn't do much with them but liked them. He didn't interfere at all with training or anything like that. He wasn't super keen on getting the second dog but fell in love with her the second he saw her so that was all cool. The horses caused a fair bit of angst though.
  2. It is distressing and quite a shock when you get a puppy that isn't keen on eating. Hopefully it was just the leg and he will be ok now.
  3. Do you think the inside cover is totally waterproof? If it isn't pee will just soak inside and a hose isn't going to do much. My dogs used to have blankets, am thinking about going back to that! These thick foam beds might make me feel good but are annoying to wash (especially if you have a dog with pee problems) and most of the time mine choose to not sleep on them!! They just sleep on the floorboards.
  4. Maybe foam and then quilt? That eggshell stuff or memory foam.
  5. How is the inside bit hosed down? Does it have a water proof cover? I was washing beds yesterday and cursing what a pain it is!
  6. I would have checked the coat whilst you were still there to see if it was matted. I strongly objected to clipping dogs with double coats.
  7. Pretty dodgy groomer that clips off a Spitz though. Can see a communication issue with a SWF but no way would I have accidentally clipped a JS! I would have been trying quite hard to talk the owner out of it.
  8. You could try the IBS inner health. It has different things in it apparently.
  9. @stressmagnet.....Jessie is back to her normal self....I have changed her to the Hills SD Sensitive Stomach and she seems to be doing well on it but we will have to wait for the 2-3 month mark to really see how she is doing on it.....on Sunday she went back to Rally-O and obedience training and had a ball......if anything she thinks she is starving and even had a bench surf which she has never done and grabbed a piece of roast beef off the bench  I have had a look at the link that JulesP put up but I will have to ask the vet because of Jessie's medications as I really do not know how they will react with her medications I wasn't particularly suggesting you use it. Was just joining in the probiotic talk :)
  10. This is the ants pants of probiotics - http://www.epharmacy.com.au/product.asp?id=49735 It isn't cheap!!!
  11. Do you have a dining room table that you don't use much? I used to set my crates up under a table.
  12. To be honest I am having trouble working out what the problem is. Can you describe 'going crazy' a bit more? Is he upsetting the bigger dogs? Are the owners getting shitty?
  13. Epiotic must sting a bit as Poppy used to have hysterics when I used that. She is much happier with the baby wipes.
  14. Poppy has filthy ears too. I've used been using the baby wipes which have been working well.
  15. crazy dog lady rant... Cool that he is actually listening to the rants!
  16. You could try the Calendula tea? I have some human steroid stuff that the specialists recommended for Amber as the least offensive. Think you need a script for it though. It stings a fair bit too.
  17. I lost a border collie this way. Either someone deliberately put bait in my yard and there was really no reason for anyone to do that or my dog ate a critter or a critter dropped the bait. It was very fast and very horrible I originally thought it was snail bait but then I found out that 1080 is also dyed green. It all happened too quickly to be snail bait too.
  18. Why people have open compost heaps in their yard to which they keep adding food I will never know. Surely even the most stupid of people must realise they will be feeding and boosting the local rat and mouse population. This is what causes my problem. Next door have compost heaps, grow heaps of veggies and have chooks! They really need to move to the country!! The mice eat there but live here for some reason. Maybe because they have ratting type dogs. I wouldn't have know that the chooks/compost cause these issues so will also be checking out gardens when I move again. Also having a flat roof is a pain in the arse as I can't just chuck bait up through a manhole!
  19. My bait guy said the dogs would need to eat about 20 dead rats for the bait to have any effect on them. I am more peeved that the critter are dying my roof. They haven't read the memo about exiting the premises to die.
  20. Thanks everyone. It can be stressful at times but she is worth it!
  21. Last time I tried BH my dog did start chucking and doing a lot of grass eating. A couple of us had trouble at the same time. Not really sure why as they said the formula hadn't changed.
  22. Amber is 5yo today! I've almost written a post like this a couple of times but didn't want to jinx us. I think this deserves a post though! For those that don't know Amber was diagnosed at 11 months with inoperable multiple liver shunts and was given about 6 months to a year to live. I was devastated and it was made worse by the fact I had lost another young border collie just the prior month in tragic circumstances. I researched the condition and put her on medication and a diet that I hoped would help her. And here we are at her 5th birthday. She is full of energy and enjoys life to the max. So happy birthday Amber!
  23. I think this carry on about the breeds is very odd. We have had heaps of 'what dog breed do you want to own' threads and most people have a list of breeds.
