  1. Thanks. That is useful. There is a whippet that I meet quite often and I have been unsure of its intentions. It stresses me out a bit as it is likely to come off second best with its skin. The owner doesn't seem bothered but I have been freaking out and putting my dogs back on lead as it zooms around us barking. My dogs are very 'WTF is that' about it!
  2. Berwick dog club in Narre Warren Nth had some fenced areas. Haven't been there for ages though. Or there is KCCC park.
  3. I was told that my border collie would snap her other cruciate but she never did.
  4. Hoping for a 'muscle sprain' diagnosis today.
  5. Whenever I've felt like that it hasn't been time. That is just me though. Whenever it has been time everything has become clear and doubts have gone.
  6. I could tell you what I would do. Which is different from what other people have suggested but really it is about what you want to do. What choice you want to make. Big hugs
  7. You also don't know what the person is doing to get weight off the dog. I have a chubby border collie and it is a constant struggle with her weight. She is also quite heavily built and with a curly coat looks chubbier than she is. Is pisses me off no end when people comment. Doesn't help that she is usually with my other dog who is underweight because of her liver condition and is also a leggier skinnier build in general.
  8. I am so so sorry. Massive hugs. RIP beautiful girls.
  9. I've only had border collies since I've been an adult. Have owned 5 and they have all been of similar breeding. Thought I might have to change breeds when I get elderly but there are a couple of elderly men around here that walk their border collies every day.
  10. There are heaps of these sort of dogs around here. Most of them have a small amount of white on them. I've often wondered if they came from the same petshop. They aren't super friendly either.
  11. Yeah I don't see many real Bullmastiffs around. Can count on one hand the purebred ones I have seen. And that would include a couple of french ones. I don't see many (any) pitbulls either though. Maybe it is were I live. Just a couple of not well breed staffies.
  12. Oh has Kenzie recovered from all her physical issues? That is great news! Well done.
  13. I don't mind, I like to do my bit for positive dog interactions. Poppy loveesssss people. She squeals at them like they are her long lost best friend and then turns her bum to them so they can scratch it! So I just have to curb her enthusiasm a bit. My friend has Belgian Sheps and it does shit me the amount of people that interrupt us when we are chatting to ask what sort of dogs they are.
  14. This is pretty much why I decided to report the dog that I reported. I felt that a smaller dog would have been killed. Unfortunately the ranger left it up to me as to what happened to the dog, which I didn't think was fair. Hopefully having the ranger visit was enough for them to not let the dog out again. My dog did require a vet visit.
  15. I kept reading this title as 'dogs breeding on tribal wives'.
  16. She says he deliberately let his dog off and set it on them. She was also bitten and suffered grazes so may have been knocked over. You do not want to hear what I would be saying if someone had done that to me and killed my dog. They would have to be locking the man up for his own protection! I can not believe that anyone on here is criticizing this young girl.
  17. Umm the same press as she got here. Actually the lady that had her poodles face eaten off got more coverage and she probably would fit your description. All dog attacks are getting press. It isn't like the dog got bitten - it was killed!
  18. Sounds like he is crooked because he is anticipating the heel command. He probably has a lot of value for being in the heel position. So you need to reward the front/come position heavily and don't ask for a return to heel for a while.
  19. Most of these reports seem to have a photo of the grieving owner in them. So they shouldn't photo the owner because she is pretty? This is certainly not the first report were the owner has been photographed after the event.
  20. The only dog I know that has been debarked can still make a very loud noise and it sounds worse than a normal bark. Kind of like a pig being tortured. Horrible.
  21. Joking about this is very bad taste So is Monte Python. Huh? Humor, as a response to disgust, is a natural response. Think Dead Parrot. It's as stupid to slight people for making jokes in 'bad taste' as it is to make fun of someone for blushing. So if my friend got eaten by her dogs and someone cracked a joke about it then that would be OK? Just because people do it doesn't mean others can't be offended by it. The point is moot anyway as he said he wasn't being funny. How do you know he was joking? His dogs probably would eat him if he died and they got hungry. I was confused bu the huge grinning face and it came off as a joke. He said he wasn't so I believe that. Last thing I'm saying on the subject. :) For single persons that don't have a lot of family etc it is a very real fear that you will die and no one will notice for ages. Sometimes laughing about that is a defense mechanism.
