  1. In my last house I had them underneath a dining room table. That sort of made them look like furniture.
  2. HE could also cause issues like that. With her recent liver problems I would look at that if going the antibiotic doesn't work. Amber had one fit due to HE and her legs were stiff and jerky after. Hope Mya is ok.
  3. Poppy thought herding ducks was dumb. She lives only for sheep! Amber might like ducks judging by how she plays with magpies!
  4. that video actually demonstrates pretty good why it is - IMO - a bad idea if you would use 'Treibball' as a preparation for herding: the dog gets trained to contact the ball (because he can't move it otherwise); in herding you don't want this contact as it would dramatically increase the risk of uncontrolled nipping. Now try to explain this to a dog that is trained upfront on a ball while is in the paddock with sheep ... Who said that it was a good preparation for herding.
  5. I know at our club there is a "gap" where people want to continue to socialise with other like-minded people, have some fun with their dogs doing different activities but not get right into the competition side of it. We have had some suggestions of a self-driven group, doing some basic nose work, tracking, maybe a trip to the cross country course or even a walk down the boardwalk to the pet friendly cafe as a group. It continues to go round and around - maybe one day someone will grab it and make it happen Maybe seek out some like-minded people and find someone who does private lessons in your areas of interest? Yeah agree. We have a 'social' class but dogs that aren't social tend to go in that to get more social. There are a fair few dog walking meet-up groups around but I would like to do training without being harassed about competing! I would like to train to UDX level but that training is done in our 'trial' class and you do get constantly asked when you are going to compete. Surely it isn't that weird to want to just train your dog?
  6. Here is the dock jumping FB page - Ultimate Air Dogs Australia - UADA - https://www.facebook.com/Ultimate-Air-Dogs-Australia-UADA-199213823582874/about/?entry_point=page_nav_about_item There are videos and a fair amount of photos so you can get an idea.
  7. This has really sucked for you Remidog. I really hope that you find a new doggy friend very soon.
  8. Agree. The old owners could have come on here and started a thread about this from their side and I am sure that people would have been hoping they got the dog back. Sometimes you just don't know how much something is going to hurt until you have done it.
  9. For me the issue is that you have only had her for a couple of days. If it had been 6+ months I would say keep her 100%. But I am also feeling for her old family as sometimes you do things and then realise how you will feel until after. There are a couple of horses I wish I had never sold!! Even though I was doing the best thing for the horse it hurt a lot. The first night/day without the dog would have been horrible for them too. Last time my dogs were in a kennel I was home for one night without them and it was so weird. They may start to feel better about her not being there if they aren't super doggy. I am also concerned about whether they will try and re-home her again but they seemed committed to finding her a home rather than just taking her to the pound so a future re-home would hopefully go the same way. And yes I feel bad for you too. Very sucky situation.
  10. Their soft kibble is the only kibble Amber will happily eat so I am a little bit freaked out. Don't know what is going on with their website, it has changed in the last week but quite a few things are missing. Don't know if they have also been discontinued.
  11. I have a very long memory...... Don't you work in the pet food industry anymore?
  12. I thought this deserved its own topic. It appears that Natures Gift was been sold to the Real Pet Company. A couple of their lines have been discontinued. I feel pretty sad about this as this was a small family business. They were really great to deal with and seemed to really care about their product. I spoke to them a number of times over the years and was always happy with the response. I first started using their products nearly 30 years ago! Used to get it directly from the factory before it was in supermarkets etc I had felt that the tinned food seemed a little different recently but don't know if I was imagining it. It is rarely a good thing when small companies get sucked into bigger ones.
  13. I was a little bit suss when I emailed Natures Gift and it was a different email address. It looks like the Real Pet Food company has purchased Natures Gift. And Dr B's Barf.
  14. They are still making it but it is in little bags. I wanted the Biogestion because it came in 3kg bags.
  15. I wonder if they told the kids that they were rehoming the dog? It is possible that they didn't and then had a rather dramatic reaction from the kids when their pet was gone. The kids may get over it by Sunday. If they still want her back by then I would return her.
  16. One of the Nature's Gifts dry foods has been discontinued too - Biogestion5. I haven't seen it for ages and have been trying to get hold of it for Amber. I emailed them and they said they aren't making it anymore. Buying small bags of the Nourish is annoying.
  17. Probably more chaos with a casual club! They do look like they are having lots of fun. Too much fun perhaps! The furthest away a dog is going to work in rally is at the highest level were there are some distance stations. I would look at tracking but as others have said the clubs don't tend to offer classes in it. There is dock diving too. Does she like water?
  18. Actually that is a good point. I probably wouldn't recommend it for Thistle. Lots of barking, lots of dogs running all over the place. It is pretty chaotic. If you don't like one dog running through your class than flyball is really going to freak you out.
  19. it is definitely not a probiotic...and a softer poo at night time (after a sleep the poo is mostly a little bit softer as there is less compaction due to muscle usage) is nothing that point to digestion issues in the first place. Dogs get older, metabolism can change and so the periods between poo ime... Were did I say it was a probiotic?
  20. Metronidazole is not just used as a AB. It has other uses such as treating stomach inflammation. I use it to help reduce toxins in my dog's blood. She has been on it for about 5 years now. I've also used it to treat IBD/pancreatitis in a cat.
  21. you mean 6 years?...sound like a reasonable approach to me... Why are you ok with it being done at 6 years old? Do you have a bee in your bonnet about this issue because someone has told you that you aren't a responsible dog owner because your girl is entire.
  22. I've never had a vet push me to desex a dog and I can't honestly recall much advertising etc coming from the RSPCA either. The Council might push it a bit but my Council charges the same for non-desexed dogs if you are a VCA member or it you have done obedience. I really think you are over reacting about this.
  23. Err no one here is going to find that even slightly 'special'. You do realise you are on a purebred dog forum that supports showing and breeding?
