Recommendations - Lower Protein Dry Food
JulesP replied to TashaBailey's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
You could try feeding the Hills Prescription L/D which is for dogs with liver problems. It has really helped my dog who has bad liver issues. It is about 18% protein but it is supposed to be very easy to digest as it is soy proteins etc. BTW my dog was very itchy until I put her on this diet. -
Recommendations - Lower Protein Dry Food
JulesP replied to TashaBailey's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
The only thing I can think of is Hills U/D which is for the treatment of dogs prone to bladder stones. It has 11.2% protein. -
If you go into their shop you will find some with buy now prices. Petnetwork look like they sell the grooming table and state that you should use it against a wall as it isn't super stable.

The Strangest Thing Just Happened Here
JulesP replied to Staffyluv's topic in General Dog Discussion
I'd be making Ziggy vomit. -
The Xmas cards were pretty jolly cool. It was great to receive hoards of cards every day. Lots of fun.

I'll never forget the support I received the night that Brock died and then the support I received when Amber got sick.

Teeheee. I've been waiting for ages and ages though!!! Ok that is because I crack every time I phone up and find out how long the wait is. I would have had them ummm over a year ago if I had actually put my name down. I hate ordering stuff in general. Must work on that impatience!

Damn why aren't they for an Xtrail? lol. I am just in Wandin too.

So she follows and licks them? I think if that's their only issue they need to thank their lucky stars. You say she's an airhead, to me it sounds like they just don't like her as much as the first dog and they're better off rehoming her. Poor girl just wants to be with them. Yep

This sounds fairly bonded to me

All of mine used to howl at a certain siren, not sure which one it was. It was a fairly amazing racket hearing all 3 of them do it. Brock must have been the one that started it though as the 2 girls don't do it anymore. The neighbors described it as the saddest noise they had heard!

Totally disagree with this theory. I am totally able to have kids and I don't like them. Well I assume that I could have had kids if I wanted to. My ability to have a child was never tested. My ex husband doesn't like kids either btw.
-
It is how people openly express themselves that I believe the OP was questioning. Whether someone likes or dislikes children or chooses to have children or not isn't the issue IMO I don't walk around volunteering that I don't like kids. It normally comes up when someone grills me about why I haven't got kids. Ok and it might be rather obvious if I am out somewhere and there is a naughty child! The lady on the plane might have liked kids btw but just didn't want to sit next to a baby during an international flught.

It isn't even slightly hard. They are are just little untrained people. I don't much like untrained anythings. There was a child going nuts in the shopping center yesterday. Totally understandable in that he was just using basic urges to get what he wanted. Doesn't mean to say that I appreciated his shrieking whilst I tried to eat my lunch. I have more trouble understanding parents then I do children.

I don't think how I feel about animals and children are related. Probably plenty of people that don't like either. Plenty that like both.

Agree I would have been extremely pissed off if a child disabled or not shoved me hard. Extremely pissed off. I did have a disabled child break free of the person they were with and rush at me to pat my dog. Luckily I had Brock who was fine with it. Not sure how Amber would have reacted. It isn't so much the fact it was a stranger it is the noise and way the child moved. Would have given most dogs a fright. Had a very disabled child scream in excitement at my horse once, the child was in a wheel chair too and the horse was a nervy sort. Instead of getting a fright my horse let out this amazing whinny and moved towards the child. Was very interesting.

Dogs are allowed on their beds which are in the kitchen. Rest of house is out of bounds. Red dirt and cream carpets are not a good match. They are outside during the day btw.

Dog Rescue Advice Needed Please
JulesP replied to jaybeece's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Pop her in the car and drive her to Coldsteam Animal Aid. Sure she will find a lovely doggie to love and less hassle. Take her current dog too as they like to make sure the dogs get on. Other rescue mob sound like too much trouble. -
Also agree with Erny and excessive dosing is one of the things that can cause serious liver problems in dogs.
-
Do you have the plant wandering jew? That causes havoc with mine. But not all the time, they have outbreaks of it. Don't know if it is only at certain times of the year or they just don't go in it all the time. Try washing with Quit Itch.

Static Mat Or Similar To Keep Dog Off Garden?

A ping string might work. Doggy version of an electric fence. http://www.sureguard.com.au/dog_electric_fence.html -
My Neapolitan Mastiff Bit Me (a Serious Bite)
JulesP replied to cybergenesis's topic in General Dog Discussion
Keep an eye on that bite if it was stitched up. The only bite that I had stitched got badly infected. -
All my border collies have been pretty quite. They have all bonded very well to me, even when I had 4 at the one time. With the GSP idea - my borders are not fond of GSP. They aren't fans of any of the gun dog breeds. With the cats, hard to say how it will go down. The pup might chase Jed rather than the cats. My current dogs like the Birmans and hate the moggie.

Hope Tess is feeling better today.

Yeah, mud don't stick to Cavaliers either. :D It's just the inital shock before they dry off. ;) Yep, a bit similar coat texture I would have thought. The hardest thing is to resist the urge to towel it off. Leave the mud be and the coat drys and sheds all the mud. Rub it with a towel and it's a mess! Often whem i am walking her people comment that she's just been bathed - nope, she just looks bright white all the time. Yeah. I just towel off wet feet, blot the body and legs, no rubbing and wait. :) I've even noticed that green grass stains when they go out after the lawn has just been mown seem to disappear too? Worried me the first time I saw green paws and though Oh. no I have to rewash, but they vanished during the next few hours. lol as you well know the red dirt stains beautifully! I get so many comments about my black & pink border collie! No one notices the staining on Amber's white bits though as it sort of enhances the sable!
