  1. Thanks OSoSwift :) Im pretty sure ive had them or something similar when i saw my own eye specialist for a test but it wore completely off within a few hours. It wasn't pleasant! To think our vet wanted us to keep putting them in her eyes for a few days, glad we didn't then if its taking this long just to wear off with the initial dose from almost a week ago. She doesn't seem to be affected by it, just her human Mummy me, and her human Daddy.. we probably just overreacting. I guess we just need to have faith in what the eye specialist has said about them.
  2. Hi Everyone :) Just a bit of a concern hence my question. Long story cut short one of our cats scratched Miahs eye a week ago arghhhhhh. Took her to the Vets and they put some drops in her eye to dilate them, Cant remember what they were called, but she said to keep putting them for a few days (it was for the trauma side of things) She also gave other drops and some AB's Anyway we ended up taking her to an aninal eye specialist later that day just to double check that her eye is going be ok (as we been there through all this before with another one of our Cavs.. which we were given the wrong drops initially for and it delayed the whole healing process ) Specialist said she dodged a bullet and luckily it was just a surface scratch, changed the drops to some other ones and told us not give her any more of the other drops to dilute her eye. Last Thurs we were concerned her pupil was still fairly dilated, so rang the specialist and he said it can take up to a week to normal to come right. (Luckily we didnt keep putting them on like the vet said then!) Its now Sunday, so not quite a week (next tues will be a week since it happened) but its still not gone back to normal The actual eye looks like its healing ok, so thats not our concern. Hubby and I are starting to stress ( we have had a very stressful few months and the slightest thing puts us on edge now) So can anyway reassure us its going go back to normal pupil size?? its looks all glossy when you look at it because its so dilated. Obviously by mid next week we will ring the eye specialist again if its not gone back to normal. Otherwise she seems to be going ok with it, and its not affected her in any other way, still fully alert and hyperactive as usual lol ps I just looked up the eye drops they are Ilium Atropine. Eye Ointment
  3. Ness you were here for me on dol while i was going through that very tough painful time with Joey. So im here if you need me too... i wish i knew what to advice you. I know you have giving it all your heart and soul to help Kenz get better. I feel for you, I really do hun *gentle hugs* x
  4. Someone i came across on fb says he swears by them for his Staffy dogs . He's from here in Australia. . I'm bit cynical about how effective they would be . I hate all the chemical crap we (in general) have been putting into our dogs at the best of time with flea/tick treatments but people are making this out to be a scam to just make money so who knows
  5. wheres the like button like on fb for times like this Marg lol Hope it all settles down :)
  6. IMO just be cautious with the Comfitis.. one of my friends with a cavalier uses it successfully.. I wont be using it again tho.
  7. We get them here (depending on the seasons and weather) because of where we live (being coastal and sandy) .. I use Revolution on Miah .. its for heartworm as well.. and inbetween i will use a very gentle natural type flea shampoo. I have been known to give ours in the past Capstar tablets when fleas have been really rampant. I did try J and R on Comfortis, which did a great job (better than any other treatments i had used) but i now have reservations about it using anymore as i think in our case it wasn't a safe choice for them to be on..
  8. We got Miah when she was 10 weeks, but she was being socialized by the breeder. Shes now almost a year old and im still waiting for that fear period to happen that i had read so much about on here and had been dreading! Touch wood, but shes still very friendly and outgoing and i'm yet see anything phase her at home or out and about.
  9. We have been talking about down the track when Renae leaves us that we might get back into fostering small dogs again. If i was into bigger dogs i would love to adopt Leema's Bandit (hes currently in the rescue section on DOL). I have been smitten with him ever since seeing a pic of him today in my fb newsfeed ! http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/253228-how-to-rehome/
  10. Well my puppy is almost no longer a puppy She will be a 1 year young in a few weeks time (already!) But of course shes still doing puppy things which is lovely to watch. I've never had a dog thats really been into toys, but Miah is. I noticed before she was playing with her fav toy, well not really a toy as such but its one of my old red sandals. She claimed it fairly early on and is still in love with that shoe to this day , altho its totally chewed up now I think shes going really miss it once its totally chewed up and i have to throw it out lol What has been your pups fav toy that they haven't lost interest in over a long period of time ( unlike other toys) ? This is Miah when she first discovered my shoe. It looks worse for wear months later lol
  11. I have no facts Pers, i guess everything is causing cancer now in animals and us humans, or we just hearing about it more due to social media
  12. My trainer has said it can cause damage to a dogs thyroid. With our Cavs we mostly use harness's.
  13. Miah wasn't too bad but I certainly wasn't used to puppy cries/noises
  14. We are here to help :) I'm not new to owning dogs, but Miah was the first puppy I've ever owned ;)
  15. I mostly use Aloveen shampoo, you can get it online or from some vets. I think I might have bought some coco and rufus puppy shampoo back then from woolworths. Don't use it too often tho.
  16. Yep good advice, thats what we did and to be able to give our other 2 dogs a rest from her sometimes And we also got some second hand baby gates so she couldnt go into rooms like our bathroom ..
  17. yeah i know what u mean lol i think this is the site i got Miahs tag from, altho their rep has gone down since i bought from them (i had no issues with them) I got the purple heart one with an angel pic on it with her name. Its been ok since we put it on her, altho its scratched up a little bit over time from her playing rough and trying to bite it (when she was younger lol)
  18. theres been a few posts in the past on dol about them i think. You might have to do a search. I just got one done from on ebay, its been fine :)
  19. Oooo you will need plenty of coffee on hand for yourself for those very early mornings you will experience for a while
  20. I hardly go in there now, but did a recent update about Miah. Her 1st birthday is later this month :) I cant even remember what we bought at the time, as she came with so many things that the breeder included in the package. Having some small cardboard boxes around to play in is handy. Miah loved destroying them I had a name tag ready for her when she arrived :)
  21. Oooo lovely ! cant wait see pics of him/her later ! :)
