  1. Yes defiantly ! I have seen it with our Cavs over the years. Renae (and Joey when he was still with us) preferred to seek out their own, but young Miah loves any breed/type of dog
  2. My apologies I'm late with my birthday wish ... but Happy 6th Birthday Stan !! Hope you had a day full of love and yummy treats You are looking very handsome in your pic Love and cavvy cuddles from Renae, Miah and Me xoxoxo
  3. Joey used to always have a 6th sense about things, I was always writing in here about the different things he sensed. The night my husband's Mother passed away, he sprung up at about 3am and was howling. Half hour later we got the call from the hospital to say she had passed away at about 3am. Joey and my MIL weren't close, so i'm not sure why he would have reacted? That was just one of many incidents ! Renae's not that way inclined, but Miah has started reacting to a few things around here also. But then I'm convinced our house is haunted Its always been said that animals and young children have a six sense about things. It doesn't surprise me at all ;)
  4. Thats the thing with smaller dogs in particular. One does have to very becareful with them getting under your feet. Most Cavs are like little shadows especially at meal times. I once tripped over one of ours and fell. I only hurt myself not my Cav luckily! Whenever my elderly Mum visits i'm always watching she doesn't trip over them, id hate for to take a nasty fall. Its not the dogs fault of course, they just being right next to us humans ;)
  5. I'm so sorry Sometimes life is crappy and unfair.. we lost our 9 year old Cav last year, and there is a lot of guilt that comes with their passing especially when you have done so much to give them a good chance to survive but yet you feel it wasn't enough (Thats how we felt) . My heart goes out to you. Much Love and soft hugs for you. RIP to your beautiful boy x
  6. We call Miah's a snorkel, Skyefool Hers is longer than our other 2 cavs.. she can go underwater with hers
  7. Our Cavs would eat anything given the chance ! Altho if you put a cut up lemon or onion near their noses, they will actually turn away Miah is mostly fed a raw diet but its full of variety. Our old Cav gets some small dog dry food and 4 legs dog food :) They both get a small home baked natural dog biscuit for breakfast
  8. Britney, i do understand some people arn't into it. I wouldn't say i go silly with it :) I never put clothes on my past bigger dogs they wouldn't looked good dressed up ;-)
  9. oh you would think im creepy then , i occasionally put something nice on my cavs for special occasions . not all the time :)
  10. Ive referred to mine as furbabies on some occasions.. and i'm not offended if friends say it to me when asking about them MEH.. Yes i do over spoil them at times and get a bit antha whatever that word is from time to time. My dogs, my choice If a marketing business said it, it wouldn't bother me personally. Each to their own of course
  11. Thinking of you, i know how heartbreaking it is . *gentle hugs* x
  12. Too funny ! I can understand the swarms of insects tho, i don't like them either !
  13. Too funny ! I can understand the swarms of insects tho, i don't like them either !
  14. Miah is now 15 months old .. *touch wood* but she hasn't been through any of these fear phases i have read about .. Nothing seems to faze her at all. Might happen later down the track? Shes been outgoing and confident right the start, if anything a bit too much at times! We have people letting off illegal fireworks around here and i thought that might upset her, but if anything she wants to get outside and look for them
  15. RIP sweet Stella Thinking of you all x
  16. Very sorry to hear this. Thinking of you all. Its never easy. x
  17. When I first started looking at Cavaliers many years ago (was a life long dream to own one) My husband said he wasn't keen on them as they were too much of girly dog (not that he knew anything about them at that time). He wanted a border collie.. Anyway we went to a dog show and saw many of them and he fell in love with them that day. In fact we ended up buying a young Cavalier that was being shown that day ! The One we bought 'Joey' was quite a pretty looking male Cav. We ended up being given 'Joey's Mum (Renae) a few years later by their breeder. Now years later we have young Miah, well she has more of a tom boy look about her and acts like one ! In fact because she's so heavily marked (shes a Tri) she kind of looks like a mini border collie and acts like one too! They do have such a versatility about them can be quite active or quite laid back as you probably have experienced .. Ps.. I do get tho why he might want a more blokey type dog .
  18. ooo just realized you have a cavalier! what does your friend think about them ?
  19. Cavaliers are best as indoor dogs and do prefer the company of someone being around them or with another Cavalier mate.. Our young one is still quite active but the Renae sleeps a fait bit now (shes almost 12) For more info check out breeds 101 section :)
  20. Renae is almost 12, i havent vaccinated her for years. Shes gets flea treatment if she needs it. I worm her every so often. Miah had her puppy vaccination altho when she came here and had to have her last lot we just did C3. Shes now due for her 15 months Vaccs, which we will do. We probably wont do any more for a long time again. She gets monthly heart and flea treatment and the other regular worming tablets every few months. If you do going do training most places expect the dogs to be vaccinated or show titre testing results, and if you are in a high risk parvo area, its important. Some components of vaccinations can be treated.
  21. Gretel !!! Yes well done wesitemum
  22. ive used one of my old 12 cup muffin trays to separate food in to slow Miah down , it helps a bit ;)
