  1. nice big bone !! I mean BIG ..so there is no way he can swallow it A bone with meat on . YUM. if he scratches/whinges for 15 mins..and is finally let in , next time he will scratch for maybe a half hour ..as he KNOWS that eventually he'll be let in. Plenty of toys. OK .. give him two or three at a time .. a couple of days later ..a different two or three ..it helps prevent boredom! put some kibble, plus a couple pieces of smelly salami or cheese ( teeny pieces- fingernail size) in a smallish soft drink plastic bottle and let him shake/chase that !! wrap a few treats in newspaper ..place newspaper in a carton ..let him rip & tear! When you sprinkle kibble ..have him not watching . use about 15 - 20 pieces ..and place them a long way away from each other ... Does he have a sand pit? Sand pit is fun, cos you can bury toys/treats in there every so often.
  2. No idea what day it is, let alone week. anyhow , tonight's sunset .
  3. certainly wasn't small Honestly, I read it twice , cos I couldn't believe the description/cautions .
  4. it seems a lot of money to spend on baby puppy training ..what problems are you having ? So much of baby puppy education is simply a good routine, and setting things up so pup cannot easily make a 'mistake' :D You will probably find these videos & articles fun, and they will certainly help you understand more of the WHYS of puppy behaviour , and how your puppy sees the world .When you have some understanding of how puppy sees their world , then you will find communicating is so much more comfortable ! enjoy!! 7. a friend's dog is having surgery today . I am close to friend and dog ..and am probably almost as apprehensive as the owner! I have seen this done, with amazing results .. have watched it being done ..with fascination ... Do you have good recovery stories I can tell my friend ? the dog is middle aged , and , I figure, won't really be in more pain than previously ... as she couldn't use the leg much without great pain . thanks
  8. perhaps funds/time could be better spent on a dog with less likelihood of problems ? That's all ...never is a long time to avoid kids & dogs .... I didn't go into more detail .. sorry , didn't want to make it easy to identify ...
  9. browsing, as one does to look into the eyes of animals lacking permanent homes ... One dog description clearly stated that dog was never to have contact with children under 18 at home , dog was not to be taken to any public area frequented by dogs ...and dog was being worked with by a professional , ongoing - cost to be owner's , once homed. my one thought was ... why is it being offered? (no, not scumtree, or private) So sad , such a restrictive life .....
  10. @Jodipug It will be a tricky search A WONDERFUL partnership when it happens :D here are a few of my thoughts - just ideas . A smaller dog may be the more convenient option with much transporting most days . less shed fur will mean dog is more welcome/accepted in many places . smaller dog may be easier for your daughter to walk/carry / cuddle with ? Tactile contact - depends on your daughter what she finds the most grounding/comforting .. she may enjoy losing her fingers in fluff..or she may enjoy the shiny sleekness of a very short coat .. does she like dogs with sticky-up ears, or droopy ears ...as well as bonding like a second soul , she needs to be proud of her new companion , and to absolutely adore the physical presence .
  11. Think of it from a dog's point of view ;) .. no, it's not aesthetically pleasing , or especially clean and ordered ..but it smells/tastes/feels GREAT to a dog ..and is almost 'real' food ;)
  12. She has teeth and jaws which work, No? WHOLE RAW chicken wings will be fine , honest . It will take her ages to get the meat off .. and that's the chewing/gnawing which does the good work ..NOT crunching bone . Steak ? why, when then are a lot of lovely bones she can enjoy ? If she can carry /chew a pig ear she can eat bones !! if she can rip toys/clothes, she can chew on bones . by lamb rib I am talking a whole rib .. NOT a chop ..and longer than 4 inches ....longer the better really, and meaty you can also use chicken carcasses/ cut in half for a baby yes, it's big..that's the GOOD thing ..as there's lots of chewing/playing and very little risk of swallowing chunks PS I wish my cat would eat raw anything!
  13. OK .. she needs BONE for her calcium . lean mince does not have a lot in it for pups Minced chicken (with minced bone in ) is good ... but the BARF patties have good nutritious things in there .. minerals/vitamins/ some veg matter etc ... a much more complete diet for a growing body Pigs ear. Hmmm ...bit like giving a toddler a lollipop ;) lots of taste .. not much else ..except fat . try her with a frozen RAW chicken wing (WHOLE) so she can't swallow it . Lamb ribs ?
  14. @Phyl. be careful - your munchkin is on the way to training you to provide better & more delicious food on demand ;) pups rarely starve themselves ... provide one or two nutritious foods several times a day .. remove if not eaten .. do not give treats in between ..and offer a meal again later . I'm tough . ;) You might also enjoy reading/watching the following : Pick out bits which are doable ... CLICK HERE Nothing In Life Is Free CLICK HERE great youtube videos CLICK HERE Socialisation

  16. LOOOVE >>>> I wanna be back at Monarto ... NOW *stamps foot* :D I'm glad you share these wonderful images . Thank you.
  17. LOL ... teething is when they sit/lie down and gnaw on things for longer times , they do NOT grab peoples' hands ;) he sounds as if he is showing some 'teenage' stuff What training does he get each day , and what sort of games ? How do you speak with puppy ?Do you use a higher pitched , 'baby' voice ..or just normal conversation tone ?
  18. psst...you may want to check forum guidelines at the top of the page - the forum prefers mixed breed dogs be called what they are , a Beagle x , Pugx , etc ;) Has she been speyed yet ? Sometimes , approaching a season , bitches will pee a LOT more . It would also be useful to know what surfaces she used for a toilet before you got her ... a 2 hr walk!! That's a long way for a youngster .. can you take her twice a day , instead of once ? She may be more inclined to try & hold on if she thinks there's a regular walk I have never had a dog in an apartment long term, so can't really help . The only things I can suggest off the top of my head ..are to clean with a good biologically based cleaner .. 'urine-off' or similar named products AND .. teach her to associate toileting with a word you choose . Remember though, you'll be using this in public . I use 'Quick, or Quick, quick. I found this old thread for you - hope it can be of help CLICK HERE
  19. Stay well, Stella ..you are destined to make someone very very happy
  20. Poodle crosses certainly do have the smarts ..and there can be noise as well ;) They notice things ! @Caitlin888 Just so you understand why we aren't using the label ....I've pasted one of the forum guidelines .
