  1. if you can get kangaroo tails .. or pig/sheep heads, or even perhaps freeze a lamb flap ?
  2. I don't know much about it, but would perhaps urge caution of using this in a young pup/dog who is still developing.A belly band is no guaranteed way to stop a dog mating a bitch
  3. she perhaps needs some meals on-the-bone ..so she has to use all her teeth in a side gnawing motion lots of gristly meaty chewing ?
  4. Yep - two weeks is NOTHING if there are long standing issues to resolve
  5. Doesn't really matter what breed she is - what DOES matter is the temperament with which she was born, her early socialisation, her age now, and the experience of the new owners. The bolded bits I think are due to her upbringing.... she has probably not ever been TAUGHT these things! What is known of her history? Had she lived all her life at the farm? Was she a happy confident dog? was she a worker? if so , was she good at it ,and happy to be penned afterwards? Did she show any of this behaviour at her previous home? The situation does need to be carefully assessed by a professional. two weeks is not enough time for a dog showing these behaviours to become a settled and affectionate dog , IMO.In fact, if she is of a sensitive and nervous type- two weeks in a new and stressful environment may do just the opposite edit to say I agree with this : I don't think it's fair on the poor dog , or the new owners.
  6. Your dog possibly never used to dig because he wasn't a teenager What walking/training does he get each day? How often do you change /rotate his toys?
  7. I don't trust 'lists' ... every dog is individual ... I think all dogs are as intelligent as they need to be to live life as a dog Sighthounds have a way of relating to the world which may differ from that of a scenthound ..and a retriever may well see things differently to a terrier - but they all have what dogs need to survive Judging a dog's intelligence by what they appear to do in the human realm ? Not sure.... That heeler sounds as though he has found a job which he enjoys and gets rewarded by - good for him!
  8. of course he has! if you offered your toddler a jam donut instead of pureed spinach and zucchini ... I wonder which he would choose? LOL as said-- STOP feeding extras . give him his food somewhere uninterrupted and do not give in!
  9. hopefully, then with age and strength, she will learn to do much more
  10. he is! R I P Oscar .. for Jack
  11. That looks better if you read the info in links provided it will help .. and keep on praticing - practicing is fun,and you have a good excuse for taking pics "learning"
  12. A constant smell van also be from a chronic yeast infection....
  13. I have no idea... the technical side of photography and I are not acquainted
  14. You probably need to feed him the same brand of pup food the breeder used ...that is all teh food he knows..and feeding something different might give him tummy upsets, too. Contact her and ask which one it was. Perhaps you can try moistening it with some warm water? Is he eating anything? if he has not eaten for 3 days.... that's a very long time for a little pup. If you can not get the breeder's advice try moistening the dry food and mixing it well with w LITTLE bit of the raw meat ...
  15. Look at them! Mozzies transmit heartworm, yes. I swear by the good outdoor mozzie coils!!
  16. less veggies, more raw , no weetbix Lucky puppies, anyhow to have someone prepared to make up good food
  17. just based on what you have posted- I would say it may be a good plan ....
  18. Being a soft dog is nothing to do with being in focus... :D She is gorgeous ..and it looks as if she is beautifully groomed!! relax.. take heaps of pics... then take heaps more ... no hurry , perfection in a day or two is not important. What is important is you get to know your camera by taking many photos on many settings...see which you like, and see which ones look best a tip. focus in on an eye .. if that eye is sharp & clear... then we are happy , to put it simply There are some good tips, & interesting angles if you CLICK HERE edit - saw you were focussing on her side. hmmm.. why ? Unless you want to count the hairs in her coat, or look for burrs ... focussing on her side is not necessary ;) Put the focus point on the bits of her that hold her personality.. the bits used for communicating ... her eyes not an ear, not the nose tip .. focus in on those lovely eyes :D
  19. ..take TIME ... do it again & again . take many shots.. using slightly different settings each time.. then go with what works .. and do some reading ... you might find some helpful bits in this series CLICK HERE
  20. It is most likely submissive urination... ? My suggestions... IGNORE her as much as possible. NO looming over her... no eye contact/baby/excited talk.... no patting unless she is sitting/standing calmly/walking nicely on lead. ..then brief and under the chin ..then immediately ignore again. You shouldn't need to touch her much.. ? Doesn't she walk/jump without help? and make sure everyone in the house follows the same rules. ;)
  21. They are probably youngsters..and grasshoppers are a great food! If no one is feeding them ,and they are timid .. I'd leave 'em be. Once there is human intervention , they will probably end up dead anyway...This way ,hopefully they will wander off when the grasshoppers die off.
  22. There is possibly a reason she was so small and disinclined to feed... the head tilt may be just a symptom. Hoping you get some answers on Monday, poor little mite.
