  1. I can understand that , been there, done that ...and I guess if there is a plague- I will resort to some of them again...
  2. Kirty- Being 'cruel' to mice is not the objective.. or done with a desire to consciously torture them . I guess folks use what they think is effective and what is available. It IS a bit tricky tho to catch each mouse and inject the green dream ..and catch/release is just plain irresponsible! I am all for the use of good traps. the snap sort which ,9 times out of 10, deliver a death blow fairly quickly. I have tried the cement/plaster idea--- didn't really like the idea ...mice dying when the stuff expands in their stomachs, rupturing them and causing a painful death. Sticky traps? Don't start me on those! Disgusting invention. 'Humane traps" Mice are trapped and then try to chew/dig out. if there are multiple mice, often one or more will die, and then the others may cannibalise it .... stress causes all sorts of behaviours . yes, I have tried those traps too . I have dunked the traps in a bucket of (warm) water, and watched the pitiful bubbles ... give me a good strong plastic snap trap ..a compressed spine/broken neck and a realtively fast death for the poor little things...They die with a delicious smell in their little noses ... there are a lot worse ways. I apologise to each mouse.... and use the bodies for hawks/butcherbirds or the cats .
  3. Morning folks :D I do love how that cleaning fairy always has the waiting room smelling fresh and delicious .

  10. maybe a silly question... how can there be a phantom pregnancy with NO reproductive equipment left??? Do speys these days just remove ovaries, or what? ..And if there is still a uterus in there- how do we know there are not embryos as well? ...
  11. MM- your birdbath frog is indeed a litoria peronii , also known as an emerald-spotted tree frog , or maniacal cackle frog They are th eonly frog with that shaped pupil!! real characters.. and they are the ones who inhabit our outdoor loos etc. This year we must have had hundreds around the place- no joke! I counted 15 in teh toilet one day- we rescued nearly 50 out of the can recycle bin......
  12. The foggy dog is Hamlet - he was having a drink after racing round annoying everyome else
  13. indeed Older dogs can often be the perfect choice ! But do 'some people' want an unhousetrained old dog .... or one who may be aggressive towards males? (this is IF the teeth problem can be sorted...poor little man.
  14. Well, I think your dog is very lucky!!! have a read HERE an extract or two...
  15. .!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) I will happily trap mice in the grey-onesnapand you'redead-traps. I will never use those sticky things again, I did, ONCE. Can you imagine... having glue stuff all on your feet..then your skin..then most of your body.. hours spent wriggleing and screaming and trying to get free- all the while getting more stuck? They are one of the cruellest thingsI have seen (and if you haven't seen/heard the mice caught in these things- don't go out of your way to.) I am NOT a softy ... I will shoot rabbits, trap and shoot cats/foxes.. but a quick and humane death is all I will countenace these days. Stickytraps, and 'humane' traps are NOT either. :D
  16. Sorry, This OLD dog who needs a GA to have rotten teeth done-who is not housetrained, and who may well be aggressive toward males..is not a dog I would recommend for an elderly person. I would also not be keen to rehome him at all... poor old man. let him drift off peacefully without disrupting his life anymore ..... Assaid there are so many younger dogs , housetrained dogs ....
