  1. and MUCH less chance of having your dog misidentified as a pitbull with all THAT entails @Kenny here are a couple of links- just for ideas ... in case you haven't seen the hoo haa surrounding pits & mis-identification issues .. LINK LINK I am also posting a couple of DOG BREED 101 links from the dogzonline site for you one on AMSTAFFS & one on STAFFYS (STAFFORDSHIRE bull terriers ) LINK LINK
  2. Here go !! Summer & all that .. anyone have photos ? @PossumCorner ? @Boronia ? @grizabella ? Today Rudolph & I found a teeny 'beach' on a nearby billabong ... being breezy- there were little whitecaps LOL. It was a good spot to have breakfast ..a very necessary bit of time-out (click to enlarge image) Don't you love how Willy Wagtails make themselves look ferocious , with 'those' brows ?
  3. Well thought out, kenny Thank you for updating us ! So you cannot afford a papered purebred. Lots can't . A GOOD rescue will probably have a dog for you . A dog who has all its vet work done > A dog who is chipped/vaccinated/wormed/desexed. A dog who has been in foster care .. with children , so you know what you are getting ... an example ...pay 500 for a BYB pup add vet check /worming/desexing, etc etc ..... a lot of money . An ethical and reputable rescue will do home checks /yard checks to ensure you can provide well for a dog They will have all sorts of dogs , in all sorts of foster homes ...where dogs learn all sorts of things . When a dog is adopted , the foster carer can then say ... Bozo LOVES 3 year olds to sing to him ... Bozo only barks at rats ..Bozo will eat broccoli, and Bozo isn't keen on drunk men ... ( for example) SO ..you know a lot of what to expect Bullbreeds and Bullbreed crosses are everywhere in rescue .... please be guided by folks on here who have dealt with the many rescue organisations 'out there' , and who can steer you in the right direction .
  4. kenny . Welcome . Run. Now. Please, for all your sakes do NOT buy a pup whose current owners are seemingly selling with no regard to laws or health . do NOT support their bad choices. An amstaff in a houseful of kids with toys ........ the Grinch will seem like santa I think you are heading in the right direction . yes..you will lose the deposit . BUT .You will have gained a LOT of knowledge ....and , when , AFTER some good research about which dog would suit your family ..you will get support from the Dogzonline forum folks . best of luck with it all ... and I urge you to listen to, and go with, what your little voice is trying to tell you . (we may also be able to help you cope with the fallout)
  5. was wondering too @Wildcard how are things going ?

  9. @westiemum any suggestions ? Welcome bet you're having fun doing your research!! What attracts you to a Westie ?That's quite a size /temperament difference they are great little dogs ! have you read this ? CLICK HERE it has some good info/discussion . An old thread ..so avoid posting there , but some may be useful My only other suggestions are to go to shows etc , meet/watch the dogs in which you are interested ! learn heaps , speak with the breeders of ones you like the temperament/look of Oh ..and something else for you to read ( apologies if you have already completed this step ) : Getting a second Dog
  10. and a better photo .... names at present : blue eyed beast - DAGS (Danish :Dog) dark merle - Seal )muscly /lithe/short dense coat /wriggly
  11. May I introduce DOL to the two Sons Of PUDDEN names are not yet set in stone ... Mum Bo is doing so very well ..and the babies are very active, vocal and bright . Started chewing on bones today . The Boss is disappointed they weren't girls ...but is so pleased to show me how they can S I T ..and how well they respond when he picks them up/dangles them /rolls them around..... The suitcase bed proved invaluable when they were tiny..as it could be easily shifted to where it was convenient ..Bo didn't mind ...as long as she was near me/us . Not quite sure how she will re-adjust to being an outside working dog with different rules again She was such a good girl inside ( oh yes ..The Boss's babies spent their first 4 wks indoors) Bo adjusted to using puppy pads at night ...slept with The boss during thunderstorms..and became known as 'our brown cat' as she could get onto tables/desks/benches as lightly as a cat if there was food scraps to be had. So . Due to life throwing some serious shite our way at present ...this may need to be THE update for a little while (or not ;) )
  12. OH MY !!!! THat was night mare worthy indeed I am so glad everyone survived ( well ... apart from your sanity ) ;)

  15. I've not heard of using Panacur , so can't help ..sorry . perhaps phone a vet, or pup's breeder?
  16. The vet who diagnosed GIARDIA ..what treatment did they prescribe?
  17. Not sure why you are not after pain relief for this old girl ...if she were mine , I would be after a drug which was both easy to administer, fast acting , and effective . These days there are good choices , and vets who care .
  18. I agree that type /colour marking is a common one ...and littermates can look VERY different from each other - colour markings are no identifier ;)
  19. best of luck with the surgery ..thinking of you .I agree with DDD .
  20. I didn't mean to scare you APOLOGIES before you DO take up drinking full time ... we live in the middle of nowhere .. in the proper 'outback' ... and because we provide water for stock/pets , have a rodent population ( almost always wherever there is human habitation) , snakes find it a better spot than out in the blazing sand ! Our nearest town is almost 100km away ..if that helps you figure things out , OK ? losing a dog to snakebite is devastating We have multiple dogs at any one time Char, they are working sheepdogs most of them enjoy retirement into their teens We see snakes regularly here - they are part of our life ..like kangaroos, echidnas and other wildlife . Snakes out in THEIR territory are magic . in OUR territory ..well ...unwelcome... the number of dog deaths by snakebite ? probably unknown ...as many would be dogs living remotely on sheep/cattle stations, or camps etc . Yes it happens ..but so do incidents with traffic .... MOST definitely !! , Just fill their time with good stuff so they concentrate on that When I lived in the City..I was always worrying about unlocked gates/traffic/nasty neighbours... it was much more stressful .
  21. They are pretty chookies hope they do well for you . at the minute, we have wrens everywhere , so , altho we have seen the odd feral cat - perhaps bunnies are keeping them happy ! it is so lovely having wrens around to act as pest controllers Roos have demolished my roses (oh, and a certain pet goat ) there are only a couple of old climbers, and a few behind bars with any flowers.
