  1. Nah, I can't make it this year. Why didn't you enter Tenties? I thought you always did Noorat weekend?? I am entering Luna in the Colac CH Shows though. She turns 3 Months on that Saturday so just sneaks in! She's getting microchipped on Wednesday and I'll pay DogsVic for priority registration and with any luck, I'll have her papers in my hand just in time to enter them both. :) Looking forward to getting her in the ring... she's an absolute stunner and getting better every day. She's also proving to be very game driven which is great, so I look forward to getting her out under the gun before long too!
  2. I only have two dogs who live with me these days: Tarni was named from her registered name, Jerojath Tarnagulla. It just sort of stuck. Luna was named by the kids, after a character in the Harry Potter novels. She gets called Luna-tic mostly. :)
  3. Beautiful. You take photos of things I would never consider taking a photo of, but then they look amazing. One must have an 'eye' for photography I think. Clearly, I do not.
  4. Busier than a one-legged kick-boxer. But I have taken some time to really enjoy this litter. So pleased with my new little girl... can't wait to introduce her to everyone. :) I haven't really caught up with anyone lately, besides bumping into in the street sort of thing. Problem is, by the time I have spare time to start getting out on walks with everyone, the weather will be shit again!!
  5. It's been very interesting reading the last few pages here. I raise litters on BH and Raw and have been pleased with results. I did notice my 3 year old bitch lost muscle on BH so put her back onto her usual and she almost immediately improved. I would like to use a 100% Grain Free kibble...... what do most recommend for grain free???
  6. There is a really nice 4-Berth Trailer in Terang (Vic) for $1000 obo.
  7. She's an absolute cracka! tlc thanks for telling me about the Black Hawk thread.... never seen it. Interesting to note that a few commented on loss of muscle-mass and loss of condition, as we pulled Tarni off it before we bred her this year as we just couldn't keep her in "great" condition. She was in good condition, but not as good as we'd like - especially prior to carrying/nursing a litter. As soon as we put her back on to her usual kibble, she improved very quickly. I did always find stools were nice and firm on the BH, pity about general condition. We raise pups on a BH and raw diet and couldn't be happier, so go figure! I'm just glad I found it for a good price at Prime.... I'd always picked it up in Melbourne before, not that Tarni was on it very long. I guess it's the same as with ANY food, including Premiums.... not everyone will get the same results. I asked in the BH thread and I'll ask here too: Those who feed grain-free, what do you use???
  8. It used to drive me nuts as a beginner. How hard is it for the judge to point "First" & "Second" or simply say "As you are, thanks!" Most do. Many don't.
  9. From the DogsVic Facebook page..... The president, management committee and staff regret the passing of Glenyse Acreman, an esteemed life member of DOGS Victoria. Our sincere condolences to her family. A funeral service will be held on Monday 4 March at the South Eastern Christian Centre, 2 Gleneagles Dve, Endeavour Hills commencing at 11am. A notice will be placed in the Herald Sun from DV after the family notice has been published.
  10. Wondering if a dog can be entered in a Ch Show which falls on the exact day he/she turns 3 months? I can't imagine it being an issue at all, but then you never know! Haven't got rules & regs handy.....
  11. Years ago, I remember a few stewards here in Vic that could spot as newbie in a crowd. They would beckon them over and quietly explain how the judge is working and what will be expected, where to run and where to set-up. I remember really appeciating this as a newbie as I had no-one showing me the ropes. So I think one thing that makes a good steward great, is being able to spot and assist those new to the ring. I sure appreciated it! :)
  12. Where is it held, WEIA??? Never mind.... just read it. Durr!
  13. I wonder who would leave 'Hash Cookies' just lying around????? More likely these dogs were fed the cookies, or 'blown' with pot smoke, then the owner panics and takes the dog to the Vet, along with a cock-n-bull story!! We saw this a LOT in one of the clinics I was working in some years ago.....
  14. Having been a Groomer for many years (now retired!) I still have a keen interest in the industry. I was shocked today to find while Googling, an image taken within an Australian Dog Grooming School, with a dog in the background unsupervised on a table with his neck in a noose. If this is considered "ok" in a Grooming School, what hope do new graduates have of developing safe practices???? It's shameful.
  15. I swung by Belmont on the way home from Melbourne on Sunday. The pigs ears were pretty shitty..... very small, very curled. I didn't like them. Maybe Tarni has been spoiled, but she only likes the great big flat ones! I have been getting Black Hawk for $89 from Prime here, and was surprised to find it was dearer than that in every shop I went in on Sunday. Most stores had it for $90+, many for around $102, and one was $119! Paying $89 right here in town sounds pretty good to me. We are very lucky! :)
  16. Not sure... you'd have to ask. I'm only interested in their 2 berth 'Hunting' Trailer as I don't have lots of dogs anymore and normally only take one on a hunting trip anyway. They are built tough, if not pretty!
  17. I don't have anything built by these guys, but I am considering a trailer by them. From what I've seen they are terrific quality.... I've done plenty of research before buying a trailer this time around. They are 'dog people' too, I believe they breed/show/shoot with Pointers, so they aren't being designed and built by someone who doesn't understand a dog owners needs. If I were you, I would certainly add them to your list. Go and check them out! :)
  18. Just thought I'd let you know, Family Pet & Aquarium in Belmont, Geelong is closing down and have heaps of stuff cheap. I normally wouldn't shop there as they are shockers for selling puppies, but seeing as they are closing..... They have Pigs Ears - X 100 $80 & X 200 $160 Boxes. If anyone is heading that way let me know as I'd love a box, or we could split a box up between us?????
  19. I would imagine so... especially those 'breeders' of "Designer Dogs" who think they are producing something special. It gives these unscrupulous people their place in the limelight for their fifteen minutes of fame. I think it will lead to greater numbers being bred with greater numbers ending-up in Pet Stores/Rescue etc with only the select few being exhibited in one of these ridiculous classes. To me, it defeats the whole purpose of Dog Shows.
