  1. H Helen, we get the weekly times here in our office in Brisbane and I've been admiring the lovely pic of Chazer. Wonderful shots!
  2. I think the recommended vaccination protocol is now only 2 baby puppy shots - the first being at 8 weeks, second at 12 weeks and then the first annual booster. The dog may be covered for life but to be sure you can titre test. This protocol may have changed so you should check. Some choose to vaccinate their adults every 3 years to be on the safe side. Apparently, a six week vaccine is cancelled out due to the dam's antibodies still circulating in the puppies but I'm not sure about this. In that case I'd imagine your puppy may need another shot.
  3. I cover the crate at night when I have a baby. If it's hot just use a thin sheet. Only the sides and top though.
  4. We've had similar problems with puppies and chicken wings. Stools get loose and sometimes a bit bloody. I figure it's irritating the lining of their intestines. All seem fine with them once mature. I have had one beagle that has never been able to cope with raw chicken wings even as an adult. He used to vomit when given them as a puppy. When he matured we tried him again several times and every time he passes huge amounts of mucus - actually the stools were incased in it. This guy is fine with raw beef/lamb bones, etc.
  5. I agree with SBT and Sway. We show our girls until around 4 or 5 weeks if its an important show. I do try to keep them away from other dogs and keep noses off the ground but of course the judge checks the mouth so its possible that they could contract Kennel Cough or other nasties transmitted via hands.
  6. Well done BB with little Ms Berry. What a cutie!
  7. Great idea Nekhbet! I'll tell her now as the new owner works with me. Thank you Thanks for your reply Jacquilee. Glad to hear your Charlie is better now.
  8. We also never pull them along on the lead. We take ours for a walk up the street (just a short distance) with another adult dog walking in front. You need 2 people obviously LOL. That way they start out wanting to go forward. Beautiful puppy!
  9. A puppy from our current litter has gone to his new home. A fabulous home with a desexed adult female dalmation for company. He is humping not only the dalmation but also the owner's daughter and her friends. Unfortunately the dally is not telling him off, nor did "Erin's" (from DOL) 2 lovely beagle girls when he was 6 weeks old. Most of the post's I have found about this subject relate to the humping of toys which he does not do. I have had beagles that hump other dogs when young but not people. Is this a dominance issue? Should they just ignore him and walk away? Of course the kids laugh. Thank you.
  10. Congratulations - what a thrill. Wishing you many more to come Stunning!!!
  11. Best of luck with your baby boy Skyehaven. He's a darling!
  12. Congratulations to all those with litters born and those expecting Yes, pics please!
  13. Beagle Club of NSW Championship Shows (double header - Sat & Sun) held at Easter each year.
  14. Congratulations Teamsnag. What a handsome little man.
  15. No, but I too will be interested in the replies. When my 6 year old intact beagle was a youngster and I took him to dog off leash areas he would always hump the desexed males. I think the younger age the male was desexed the worse he was with them. I always imagined it must have something to do with their scent but really have no idea.
  16. I would find a veterinary chiropractor myself - a qualified vet specialising in that field. Google "Australian Veterinary Chiropractor Association" to find one in Perth. They sometimes use acupuncture as well. I have tried Bowen but found it a waste of money. Just my experience - I'm sure others won't agree!!!
  17. What divine puppies! I'll take Noelle....please. I love this shot. They all have the same expression on their little faces - butter wouldn't melt in their mouths
  18. We are having such trouble picking the show prospects that we are keeping all 4 girls at this stage. They will change so much over the next month or two. The T&W boy will be leaving at 8 weeks to an ex dally breeder/exhibitor that just want a pet but are happy for us to see how he matures before desexing OK 7 week update. Big lemon (actually not that big anymore as she is not a fantastic eater) Has the best movement! Tan & white girl Easy going Tri girl Very demanding personality My little lemon "The scamp" T&W boy "The dollop" quitely does his own thing when not fighting with his sisters
  19. Thanks Erin for updating the pics and for the wonderful record we have of our babies from birth yet again! Not to forget staying up all night with us during the labour
  20. Thanks Bub! Lemon & white is not as common as tan & white in beagles. The sire and dam must both carry the lemon gene OR they must be a lemon or white themselves to produce lemon offspring. The lemons at birth are totally white whereas tan & whites will already show colour that will darken. I also have found they look different in that they are like little white piglets when born and have pink skin. The thing I love about them is that they normally have darker pigment than the tan and whites with dark eyes and black noses whereas tan and whites can have varying shades of brown although it takes some time to come in. Having said that, our tan & whites from this litter have exceptionally dark pigment. For anyone interested, here is a link to an interesting site with a page on beagle colours. http://www.lemon-drops.de/hound_colours.htm
  21. Thanks CBL - they are just so cute and cause of the holidays I have been able to spend all my time with them. I have scars all over my hands and arms to prove it Vicious little devils.
  22. Sorry Tam, only just read the replies. Thanks for that! Hope you had a great Xmas and New Year.
