Love the pics Centiout! The pups look great.

Congratulations Missymoo. The pups look lovely and quite chubba. Riesenhaft, I can't see your pic for some reason Good luck with your litter Lolapalooza!

they've done a GREAT job..... easy to read, easy to navigate...... Ditto! Yah

I think so too Sandgrubber. With my bitch's first litter she had 2 pups die after implantation (I know this is not unusual) and the vet said the lining of her uterus looked a bit thickened. She was put on antibiotics for the remainder of the pregnancy and went on to deliver the remaining 4 live pups. The pups weighed around the 200 gram mark. With her latest litter of pups and a healthy uterus the pups weighed in at around double the weight of the previous litter.

Definitely calendar worthy. Truly, it's is just a great photo of the sweetest baby!

I really can't understand why the bitch isn't just taken to another vet for an ultrasound (if the current vet doesn't have a machine) to confirm whether or not she has been desexed. I have only had time to read the first page - so maybe I've missed something.

So sad and sorry for the loss of your beloved Hooley Sandy :D

"Abby" is very cute I agree. They are really starting to grow into little dogs now and loosing their little puppy look. Soon will come the 'fugglies' that you often get with beagles at around the 4-5 month mark. We have our fingers crossed!

This year we would like to finish off Macey our lemon girl "Orobay Optical Magic" for her grand title - she has around 60 points to go. Keep showing and doing well her son Riley "Baldev Enigma" Here's our new baby girl "Blondie" Baldev Platinum Blonde at 12 weeks. Litter sister to Erin's "Abby".

Congratulations! Well done to you and George.

Yes - when dogs are in prey drive the pain thresholds increase so that they feel minimal or no pain while chasing prey. They are completely focused on their prey which is why it's difficult to recall the dog during the chase. So true Westlielover! We've had one beagle take the flesh on the top of her muzzle down to the bone trying to get to something under a wooden fence. It took months to heal, layer upon layer.

Yes, her milk will come in faster the more frequently the pups feed. I don't supplement even after a c-section and the pups have never lost weight even in the first 24 hours. Wake them all up and put them on all the milk bar together at least ever hour. Honestly, this works as long as the dam is eating well and drinking heaps - I put puppy milk in her drinking water. The hormone release will help calm her down with the puppies. Edited to say - if you have more puppies than teats of course you may have to supplement to help the dam.

So glad to hear Fletcher is OK. I learnt this lesson the hard way many years ago with a GSD I had at the time. It was a horse not a bunny that my guy couldn't resist as he had never seen one before. He was hit in the side of the head which catapulted his body back into the side of car (he did a lot of damage to the car) luckily he lived, thank god! People think I am paranoid and I admit I am - due to a harsh lesson learnt!

Don't know about other breeds but I think beagles definitely recognise other beagles.

Totally agree Fifi. Despite judges that put up faces or that are just plain ignorant of your breed, a good dog will often shine! Happily there decent and honest judges out there that will put up the best dog in their opinion even with a newbie on the end of the lead. I think sometimes the problem is just plain lack of knowledge and also lack of an "eye" for a dog. I also believe, judges that may be judging your group "hounds" but their first group is "toys" is more likely (IMHO) to put up a dog that can't move to save itself, than perhaps a "gundog" judge judging the same group. A generalisation of course :D

Don't feel bad. It's really impossible to know how you are going to react in situations like this. Panic and fear take over.

Huge Congratulations Megz!!! What fabulous results for your show gang.
-
Beautiful Congratulations!!!

Yes, I would ask also. Some have very little meat content.

One of my beagles has done this since she was a puppy. Every time she has a drink she seems to choke on it and sometimes even brings up a little water. As you say it is like the fluid goes down the wrong way. She is now 6 and is fine - I have never worried about it.

Those frozen hot water bottles are such a good idea Centitout. I used them many times with the latest litter after reading about it on DOL.

Poor baby We just flew a puppy to another breeder in Sydney last week but she didn't leave until late afternoon. Airline crates, even with ventilation holes, are very hot for dogs. Unfortunately, I have seen for myself a couple of times when flying, dogs left on baggage trolleys in full sun God knows what happens when flights are delayed. We fly regularly with our dogs to shows and I often wish there was a person/s assigned to look after livestock while they are waiting and during loading onto planes, plus an airconditioned room available if required. I would be willing to pay for the service.

My girl is known as "precious paws" around the traps. She's ultra feminine and a total comfort queen so you can forget about showing her if its cold and wet. Beautiful she may be but unfortunately she's a bit of a dim wit and there's not much going on between the ears
