  1. They are great. Buy from them all the time and never had a problem!
  2. I did consider using them for my working Springers who get horribly cut up on their bellies when they smash through native grass. However the vests are designed to keep dogs warm in freezing water. So you would risk causing them to overheat.
  3. No, unfortunately you would need to at least know his ANKC registered name if he is actually a pedigree GSD. He may not be an ANKC registered dog. He also may have been entire yet never used at stud. My 11 year old Dalmatian is entire, ANKC registered, heavily titled in dog sports yet has never been used at stud. ETA: I think ANKC GSDs can also be identified by an ear tattoo? Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me will pop in n
  4. It's crazy. Dogs NSW are receiving support and advice from Dogs Vic as we have recently fought a similar battle. It might be worth touching base with them. United we stand and all that.
  5. Gilly, we have a Vax (pet one I think) - $189 at Good Guys. I love the idea of a Miele or Dyson but the initial layout of $ is what gets me.
  6. Yes, I have mother and daughter (plus my male Dalmatian of course!) but they are a soft breed, I manage them well and they train hard.
  7. In general a male and a female is much easier to live with. Provided they are desexed of course!
  8. I already have a waiting list for 2019! Em’s pups had only just gone to their new homes when the requests started. I have my eye on a breeder and a different breed for a pup. It will be quite some time before I’m ready for that pup but I’ve now got an established relationship with the breeder.
  9. I have been buying Sentinel Spectrum from Priceless Pets for years. Always the best price once you account for postage.
  10. My new car has just been measured up for barriers and doors - hopefully they will be getting fitted next week! I’ve had to wait a while as I had to have the custom camping drawers fitted first. I’ll post a pic of my set up if I remember. I had the X-trail set up similarly but it has gone to the great car park in the sky. The barriers were such quality that I got a very good price for them. This was our first big road trip...
  11. Also....are you sure the breeder hasn’t been suspended from their governing body rather than chosen not to renew?
  12. $2800? Wow. I’m in the wrong breed. Who is the breeder? PM if you like. But yes I agree with Rozzie.
  13. Well you certainly opened a can of confit worms with this thread @Scrappi&Monty...
  14. Mine do it ALL the time after a walk or training or dinner. It’s just a fun thing they do.
  15. But you haven’t. Where is the PEER REVIEWED research that says dogs should be eating high salt and high fat diets?
  16. Actually I am a scientist. Dog and cat and livestock behaviour and welfare. I have even done Nutrition subjects as part of my degree. I stay up to date on peer researched articles too.
  17. My pleasure. There are some dodgy ones around so worth waiting for the right pup.
  18. $10,000 for a 7 month old? I’m clearly I’m the wrong breed. That is a ridiculous amount of money. If the breeder is running ANKC shows then she is doing so on behalf of a club. I would contact the state governing body in the first instance. The breeder may face disciplinary but ANKC has no jurisdiction over getting your expenses refunded so the only way to approach that is your state’s equivalent of VCAT. Did you purchase the dog to show and/or breed? Are you a member of your state governing body? That may change whether you are required to pay a complaint fee to Dogs ACT. I would also expect that you immediately communicated the medical issues to the breeder and gave her an opportunity to take the dog back for a refund. You mention one puppy with medical issue and later “sick puppies”. So I’m assuming you have two puppies with medical issues. I don’t need clarification. But I would suggest you be very clear about the timeline in your complaint as it will only complicate issues if it’s disjointed and incomplete.
  19. From my contact: Angus McIlrath - Koobalies Minis Marelynne McLeod Woodhouse - Schondardt Over 40 years in the breed and listed on DOL
  20. I know someone who breeds in Vic. I will ask her
  21. High fat in the diet can cause pancreatitis. Not something that reflects a raw prey diet. Ever seen a fat wild rabbit? Proteins are first broken down into amino acids. Then a-keto acids which can be either used to generate energy or create amino acids (for muscle repair, growth) or fat or glucose. You can explain all you like but the fact is that 17% protein is too low for many dogs. The first sign is a rough, dull coat. 22% is what I would recommend for the average dog.
  22. I’m a huge fan of the Snooza D1000. I buy a lot of dog beds!!! Some cheap, some not so much. I have two of the D1000 and one of them is about to encounter its sixth puppy! I sometimes take pups for friends for a few months in addition to my own so it’s had a fair pounding
  23. I use bags of playground sand from Bunnings. And yes I bury treats and use praise but they still sometimes dig in the wrong spot. Makes me feel good though and my current litter just love it!
