    X-ray

I agree with the vet, with maybe one more? ETA: Let us know how many she has!
  2. I have a carrier and a clear here, and I keep clear of the drugs for the carrier. I print this out and give it to my vets: http://miniaussierescue.org/BusterAlert/MDR1VetFactSheetLK9-8-07.doc
  3. I'm not surprised with such great judges! Mum and I considered going over with Rosie for the Delmars but its just too hard with uni and exams at the moment. Would love to see thay many Kerries and Wheatens, and have some Irish competition, but not this year.
  4. Exactly! I'm still waiting to see who we get and depending on who it is whether to go or not, organise a new handler, etc or whether I just cancel everything including the leave I've booked in for work. I'm sitting here doing the same thing. The Canadian might be an option for 2 of my 4 entries but forget an Irish Judge. I was so excited and first time I had bothered with Adeliade Royal - not meant to be it seems. I agree, there hasn't even been anything on the Dogs SA website. While it isn't their fault that the judges can't come, it would be nice if people were informed in a more official manner. I'm crossing my fingers for the Irish for our Irish Terrier, but a Canadian wouldn't be bad. At least it looks like we will have internationals and not locals.
  5. Have you seen the latest edition of All Terriers Online? It has a section on sparring in Irish Terriers and explains it better than I can. An Irish, and plenty of other terriers, never look as good as they do when they are facing off, but it has to be done in a controlled manner! Ruby is a fantastic family pet, I can bring dogs or puppies of other breeds into the yard and she accepts them immediately, and she lives with her daughter, but she will face off. I don't think that a dog that will spar is necessarily going to be a bad pet.
  6. If I lived in a palace I would still have my herding dogs, and I would still have my terriers.
  7. Happy to put some fliers up around Roseworthy Campus on Monday if Pacers would like this. My email is available through my profile if you would like to email me something to print and stick up.
  8. Homozygous merles usually have large amounts of white on them, I would doubt she is a double merle. She looks like a blue merle with muddy tan points.
  9. To enjoy the time we have together, and make sure it as long as possible. Too many dogs are taken well before their time, I want to appreciate the time I have with my girls, and make sure they are enjoying their time here too.
  10. What Rappie said! Also, many clinics perform desexings at a loss or close to it, and he may well be under GA longer for the spine x-rays than a castrate anyway.
  11. I think that depends on the chiro you see though. There is a fantastic chiro here who is a fully qualified vet. He never manipulates a dog if he thinks they don't need it. A few times I have taken one of my girls in, he's given her a thorough check and taken a good history, and then told me she needed absolutely nothing done to her (and never charged me for her either). My girls always come out moving better than they did going in (or the same if there's no injury). However, a poor chiro can certainly cause injury. This is something I've seen on friend's dogs who have been manipulated by a non-veterinarian so called "chiro".
  12. I WISH Holly would eat carrots! She will not touch them.
  13. Big hugs and good vibes heading your way. Everything crossed that it isn't anything serious.
  14. One of my girls had one of her lipomas removed and recovered fine. I have seen a very large lipoma removed from an elderly dog, it was bigger than an AFL football and the dog recovered well. By removing them now, it means you aren't giving them a chance to get too big and impact on movement and comfort. The younger he is when he undergoes surgery to better too, if you leave them he may need one taken off in a year or two anyway, and his body may no be as healthy as it is now. However, they may not grow much at all, and they may never cause an issue, but if you are sending him in to have the wart removed, I would get the other lumps removed at the same time. Better one GA now than one now and another in a few years time. I would definately go with pre-GA blood tests, and fluids in a dog of his age. They are well worth the money.
  15. A quick picture of my two rising stars. Both are multiple class in group winners, and Rosie (the Irish) is also a multiple class in show winner and top Irish Terrier rising star at not even 5 months of age. Panda has numerous reserve challenges, all bar one have been to my older girl Holly.
  16. I haven't seen any more than a couple of brief news reports in ad breaks, however I don't think we can assume the owner didn't say sorry, the media will put on what they want to put on - he could have said it and they never showed it. I'm not saying he DID say sorry, but we can't always believe what the media wants us to. And I haven't seen the full report. I work for the emergency services. I now more than anyone media will give sensational biased reporting depending how it best suits them. I also watched his interview and can tell you someone who states 'not like she died, ah well it was only a dog, takes 2 to tango as they say' did not apologise or show remorse for someones innocent pet being eviscerated. Media like to beef up stories as much as they can and the more he spoke the more they would have shown, highly doubt he apologised. Dogs that are that aggressive and dangerous should be euthanised. No questions asked. Yep, after seeing the interview I agree with you completely. Ignore my original post.

  18. So true! Or when they decide to dump in the ring even though they were taken for a toilet walk less than 15 minutes previously! Oh i have had this before my very first show twice with my first ever show dog I just about died Have showed other dogs since then that without fail no matter how often i try and toilet them they go in the ring sigh ihave learnt to take it with a grain of salt and a smile what else can i do lol I had a dog do this to me at the Adleiade Royal, one of my first royals too. Middle of the day, lots of public watching, middle of our triangle and she went. Bloody dog. :p She got extra claps from the public though. LOL
  19. Quick brag! :D Our little Rosie, our 1st home bred girl, went back to back BABY IN SHOWS this weekend! :D
  20. SA never gets numbers back (except for the Royal or Mount Gambier), let alone group or breed breakdowns. Would be good, but after being involved in running a show, its hard enough to get people to do the jobs that do need to be done, let alone the extra nice touches.
