  1. As far as I know this is a recognized breed but not in Australia. Mistress Google tells me that the breed is recognized by the NKC, UKC, ABRA and the American Bulldog Association (ABA) and the SACBR (South Africa) They are a magnificent dog.
  2. We went from Humbug to Kajtek. He doesn't care what I call him as long as there are treats and cuddles when I use the word. My other dog is HonBun and the similarity was a bit confusing for them (or so I thought)
  3. Aidan, I don't have any huge expectations of my dogs They are loving, beautiful and do things for payment (aka treats). There is nothing more I want. PMc's methods suit us really well.
  4. I would love to parent one of those magnificent beings. Maybe in the future lilly can find me one that's broken and can cope with suburban life.
  5. My name is Anna and one of my dogs is leash reactive  I have followed instructions in Patricia's McConnell's "Fiesty Fido" that involve looking at the owner when a new dog is spotted. It w o r k s! I can now walk both monsters without the hassle of HonBun trying to meet the new dog. The minute they see another dog they look at me. (HonBun even offers a beautiful sit.... to show how confused she is about the dog and the situation) We will keep practising Edited to say that HonBun is not agressive. She is just a bully who forgets her manners because things are Ahhhh so exciting.
  6. I have not read all responses ***blush*** Here is what I'd do (had done) to make my lazy bunch sound alert: Practice by someone coming into the yard and getting the dog a bit excited. We usually ask "Who's this?" in a rather concerned tone. The dog will pick up your question and bark. If she happens to do it on her own initiative... reward, reward, reward like there is no tomorrow. Good luck
  7. I am not going to comment about the non-human who "looked after" these 2. That would get me banned from DOL for 100 years! Oh, the things I want to say.... indigirl can I still donate on 15th? That's when I get my pay and can make the donation a bit more meaningful.
  8. Does not make any sense. I think people who are not suited to fostering (but full of good intentions ) usually stop after the first attempt. My first foster dog became a ff. Great outcome but I know that I cannot foster.
  9. I am so stealing your idea. Extra cuddle from me too please
  10. I certainly did not call them any of the things you have. My apology Tralee. You did not. I have now corrected my post
  11. Do they all have similar traits like a pedigree? If so what are they? I am curious to know more. I am a sucker for anything boofy and pudgy faced. :) Mine do. They have different ancestry and come from the same breeder. I will send you a few pics :)
  12. Tralee, you make such sweeping statements. What do you know about the‘politics’ of these clubs? How can you possibly judge their specific strategies, plans and politics without having the full picture? IMO, it is far better for these clubs to strive for the ANKC recognition. Having a new breed registered is an arduous path - that’s a good thing! ANKC should be commended for foreseeing that new breeds will be created and kindly providing a path for those who wish to become recognized. I am proud to parent 3 Australian Bulldogs and they came from an exemplary breeder. I really do not care if one calls them mutts, cross-breeds, abominations or fiasco as long as in 5-6 years I can still buy a dog that has the looks and the temperament of the dogs I currently own.
  13. Hopefully things will be very different in 15 or so years.
  14. Awful name isn't it. I am NOT calling my lot Boss-Dogs  If I am not mistaken, the name was changed to comply with the ANKC new breed regulation - a name cannot be a combination of names of registered breeds.
  15. Happy Birthday Gorgeous Lady Many, many happy returns and have a great day
  16. Yes, I proudly parent 3 of those Australian Unmentionables. They are not recognized by the ANKC
  17. Maybe this will do? http://www.chillydogs.ca/index.php/products I looooove their coats. My lot has had their Chilly Sweaters for nearly 3 years and they look as good as new.
  18. Lovehound it is He is gorgeous and he is very lucky to have found you. Congrats
  19. .. and then there is the Perfect Apperteaser from Happy Paws training Treats (DOL member) I think my lot would eat anything as long as it's sprinkled with the Apperteaser
  20. Sorry dogmad .... I think they were imported from different countries. Probably not "just" pets.
  21. Fantastic news. Fingers very crossed for great outcome. How long will he have to be on chemo?
  22. Yes, if there is equivalent the vet can write a script. I get scripts made for the dog (not person) and there are no problems with getting the pills from the local chemist shop.
